WYSL is a U13 event much like most Rec leagues. 2022 is a graduation year totally independent of how WSYL and Rec leagues run their events.

WYSL's website says "A select group of U13 Boys lacrosse teams was invited to compete in three days of games against some of the best teams in the country".

Notice how is says "some of the best teams in the country" because the vast majority of the best teams are not there because they are 2022 teams and not U13 teams.

Most 2022 kids are U13 compliant, but many are not.

You are confusing the two. You can 2022 and still be either U13 or U14.

And since it is grade based...You also can still be a U15, and even U16, U17 technically.. Technically there is NO age limit.

That is why the largest youth sport in world did away with all grade base teams and went to strict U base teams for competitive play. Biggest problem with grade base was to much unfair looks at players that were 1-3 years older than the majority of players. Just doesnt seem right..

But in the youth lacrosse world we let only a select group of kids play down to accommodate this minority of holdbacks/prefirst/reclassed players. Just doesnt seem right.

Just on the Warrior website and there is a picture of an express player as a player of the week. 2022. Also says how that player will be competing for LI in the Warrior games. Funny how that was from November and the tryouts were last weekend!!!!!! We were all taken for our tryout $$.team was all ready picked. I wish someone would run a team that is made on merit. Not who you know.

Fortunately, now that NCAA prohibits coaches and players from talking till Junior year, the holdback thing is a non-issue since the playing field levels out by then. So please stop your crying about it.

My son"s birthday is 12th of Sept 2003 and a teammate,classmate since kindergartens bday is last week of August 2003 they play on the same team for 3 sports . Every teacher and school believe they are in the exact grade they should be in.(as was recommended from the start of school).They are both average size boys for their age and are exactly where they should be. They play every sport according to the rules provided. They have teammates born the last week of August 2004, you wouldn't know the difference. Hence some kids on some teams just miss this cut off by days and some just make it. Our kids also play u13 for every other sport and play against older kids all the time. They love it . To act like they are so much more superior or talented is a joke. 1 more year and High School gets in and you sure won't hear us complaining about playing against 17,18 and 19 year olds. Lets not act like every kid not making the cut off for one tournament is a cheater. Coaches and teams have rosters with kids that fall under the club , league and 99% of every tournaments rule book. There are intentional reclass and holdbacks out there sure but to continue to whine a cry about it on here is funny and silly. The best U13 and 2022 teams clearly are not attending the WSYL . Good luck to the teams that are going it will be a lot of fun. We are bummed about not going .

You wouldn't be so happy if your son was born in June and July 2004 and had to compete against and play constantly children the age of your child and his friend during their youth lacrosse days.. But I see you dont mind if they do. They must be moaners.

The MAJORITY of children dont get the chance like your child's friend. Somehow you apologists always dont mind certain select kids being the oldest the entire time they play YOUTH sports.

If you reclassed your kid it's all good. Just don't go around bragging about how great he is when an actuality he is older than the kids he competes against. He should be better. No brainer

Yes. Both 14 and in 7th grade. My birthday is coming up soon too.

No going because the only U13 teams in Maryland are rec teams and clubs are not wasting time and money to create a U13 team for one weak tournament when they are preparing for competitive 2022 tournaments.

Looneys beat Cannons 8-7. Rock beat VLC 11-3.

Surprisingly, Cannons and VLC are at the bottom of the B (AA) division.

Cannons was A (Elite) last year, and VLC is the Crabs Virginia club.

I would agree with you on the list of teams and the ratings ...

From what we have seen so far at the elite level that looks good.
Crabs will show more and RR has run into some bumps.
FCA who? API looks good and Hawks look great. Fun to watch today. Also the AA games were good. Nice to see great games.

You can't lose Elite/AA players to other clubs over the past two years and replace them with A/B players and expect to compete at the same level and then add in the injuries......

What was the final of Madlax and Next Level?

What happens next year in this league with the age brackets? Isn't US Lacrosse requiring all league to transition to the new age bands? What about kids entering 8th grade that will be too old? Do they set up a U16 league?

No, Dad. US Lacrosse proposes guidelines and those are only enforced at THEIR tournaments. Any league or tournament can do whatever they want.

Howard County already has a Rec league for those wishing to play with age cutoffs. You can choose to play Grade based (Club League) or age based (Rec League). Everyone wins!
