Top 6 2023:

Bandits - no longer way out front. In the pack with everyone else. 3-2 yesterday in the championship game against S2S. S2S dominated the first half. All of a sudden they bring in a kid who has a completely different helmet, no name on the back of his jersey, and he wins every single face-off and they control the whole 2nd half and win 7-2. This kid didn't step on the field in the first half. Seems a little fishy JS? Typical 91...

HBs - good solid team. AJ doing the right thing. This team will be better because of it and the players will become better lacrosse players. Let BM go someplace else - it won't be long before he wears out his welcome there as well. This team does not need BM.

Igloo - coaches are jerks. Some good talent though. Beat the Bandits and are definitely in the top group. 1 or 2 defections and they are done. 1 or 2 additions and they are really good.

S2S - first year program that has impressed. Only losses this season were to HBs, Laxachusetts Black and yesterday to Bandits. 100% in this group.

Laxachusetts Black - basically a 3 man team - goalie, big lefty (if he is 11 god bless him - looks like he is 14) and the lefty attackman. Good coaching and they play hard.

Crabs - won Young Guns beating Igloo by 1. Not sure what other tournaments they play in but sure seems like they are ducking the competition. Not sure why - knowing the crabs organization, I'm sure all the 2023 kids drive themselves to the tournaments...

On the cusp:

Brothery Love - brought in 2 guest players yesterday in the playoffs - different color shorts, the coaches and kids on their own team didn't know their names - comical to hear the coach call out a play and have the kids say he doesn't know it! Funny how those 2 didn't play in the consolation game - guess it didn't matter. This team is good - don't resort to cheating. Work to get better.

91 Warriors - didn't hide. Played everyone. Really challenged themselves. Results weren't great but they definitely got better because of it.

Bethesda - beat HBs, smoked by Laxachusetts, but solid. Can play with anyone.

Was the kid on the tournament roster? All had to sign up? Bringing in mercenaries for fogo duty 2nd half? How could parents let their kid do that? Or parents on that team deal with it?

Embarrassment to the sport they proclaim to love.

Pretty good assessment. But Bandits smoked S2S. 8-2. The faceoff kid was just cherry-picked off of Outlaws a few weeks ago. That pretty much outs outlaws in the B division. Also, S2S got destroyed by Laxachusettes 10-2.

Parents and kid weren't a good fit with Outlaws. He went over to the Bandits mid season but never played because JS kid is the faceoff guy for Bandits. Tough break for Outlaws.

Those two big Brotherly Love kids played all tourney. Different shorts and just way better than anyone else on the field. That's probably why no one had ever heard of that team before. I would take them off of that list.

You are either a crazy S2S parent, or care way too much about 11 yr old lax to stick around for their two games yesterday.

Crabs 2023 is a first year team. They don't want to get beat up so they are very cautious about their tourney choices. I'm guessing they'll be more visible next year.

Not S2S but news travels fast - especially when there is controversy. Maybe you are Bandits parent upset that your run is over in the 5th grade?

So many "haters" in this world...These comments have to be derived from a salty parent who's team NEVER wins. The teams that win (not that you would know so I'll spell it out), typically enjoy themselves and are not concerned with others accomplishments. With that, continue to sip on the hatorade and watch others enjoy there success while you stew in your sad lonely world. Now go and try to enjoy the rest of your summer - troll...mic drop.

Hey, JS takes his kid out of the FO spot to bring in a better player and someone here rips him for it. Funny. His kid gets replaced, the coach lives by the sword with his own son, and people on here are ripping all involved, including the coach and the parents of the kid that moves up to a better deal. Suddenly they owe the organization they paid loyalty? Nope, not for one second. You pay your fee and you do what's best for your kid.

People will rip you from all directions, so just do what is best for your kids.

Well said! We all do what's best for our kid. Can't please everyone. If JS wasn't playing the better kid people would be moaning and groaning that his kid gets special treatment. The kid who moved to Bandits works hard and deserves it. And trust me the Bandits don't just take any kid for the sake of taking him. He was seeked out. Would any of us tell JS um yea no thanks if our kid was offered a spot to play? no we wouldn't.

No ripping of JS, his son, or the kid who moved. Just the parents that moved him. It's a bad move for the kid and you'll see by the end of the summer.

They got a good one - kid was the difference in the game.

Bottom line is there is no team head & shoulders above the rest - no team way out in front. On any day one of the above teams can beat any of the others. The competition is great!

JS son is and has been top facing off midfielder (not designating fogo in 5th gr) sorry. Struggled in championship was replaced by someone else on the team but played mid instead. I have many times disagreed w JS in the past but this moved showed me he holds ALL the kids accountable which in this day and age is refreshing. Many good teams in this age

Tough to hold the kids accountable that didn't play - there were many in the championship game. Not sure why kids would want to be 13-20 on that team. If they don't play in 5th grade they are never going to play...

You know the deal when you sign up. He tells you at the tryout. You have to make that call with/for your kid.

You keep putting HB in the 2 slot when they keep losing games. The team has lost more games this year than in the last 3 yrs combined, so how is it that the team is "humming" and in better shape under AJ??? The team roster is the same as when BM had it but he was able to win games. With the kids maturing 1 extra year, BM would probably be undefeated. You're one of the Dad's who has it out for BM probably because he was going to cut your kid. Be lucky AJ came in and saved him from the chopping block.

Thanks S2S Dad. Actually it was 8-2. And how did they dominate the first half and be losing 3-2 ? I'm sure JS doesn't have to look for a FO kid with a different helmet and jersey. He's not that stupid.

Reality is other kids are catching up. The kids that were on HBO were always the top kids. They were early developers and they were great. The landscape is changing. Other kids are increasing their skills and getting better. Some of the HB kids have remained at the same level.

Son was on other field but I kept an eye on the S2S bandit game Final score was 8-2 the game was boring as S2S held the ball and made No attempt to go to goal stalling Good strategy I guess but it is 5th grade lacrosse kids should be playing. Brotherly love tremendously over sized. Cough cough

They would have to play in the A division to find out. After getting beat 6 times in a row last season, I'm guessing that's not going to happen.

This thread was forwarded to me by one of our parents.

As the Head Coach of 2023 and Co-Founder of Brotherly Love I take umbrage with the veiled insinuations of cheating. Our club just finished their second year since inception. Accusing a club of cheating primarily because two players had different colored shorts seems a bit overreaching. Ironically, the shorts in question were Brotherly Love colors, we simply have two versions of our game shorts. In future tournaments I am confident that you will never see BL players with the same shorts, instead we marshall our resources to wage a losing battle on wearing uniforms that don't reek.

Our club was founded on different tenets. All of our tournaments are a la carte and we encourage our players to play multiple sports, value their community team over their club team, and place a premium on family vacations over lacrosse tournaments. The player that didn't know the play that was called is an elite hockey player and had just driven back from a 10 day tournament in Minnesota. The two players (BL best poles) that left before the consolation game both held up family vacation plans and I thanked their families and encouraged them to get a head start on traffic as they both had vehicles packed and loaded with siblings. The other "large" guest player who wasn't there on Saturday and sleep walked through the first half of the semifinal game but finally woke up and started to dominate had driven all day to return from a wresting camp. None of these kids were guest players and every single one is both age and grade appropriate without a single player reclassed.

As a club we literallly have had a single season to improve and we didn't even start our tournament practices until June of this year. We expect our kids to honor their committments to their community teams. As cited, we will get better and will do it playing by the rules which judging by these messages there are alot of teams cheating.

Many of the teams on this list we have beaten. We don't beat them because we are better lacrosse players, that will come, we beat them because we have superior athletes.

We may be guilty of placing a premium on family, community, and encouraging athletic diversity, but we certainly aren't guilty of cheating.

Your coaches were overheard contradicting this entire line of BS. Save it. Your club is not the first to do it and certainly won't be the last.

Sorry - this whole thing is tough to believe. The coaches didn't even know the kids names and either did the kids on the team. Again, you are a good team - no need to cheat - don't become the Rising Sons. Do it the RIGHT WAY!!!

Rookie move responding to this nonsense. Btw, kids who are older always look like superior athletes.

Let's focus on the real Brotherly Love story. S2S beat their fully loaded team with all of the guest and visiting hockey players. HB Express lost 5-1 to Brotherly Love less all of those "extra" superior athletes. MC needs to save this team from falling further.

Yet HB played the bandits to a one goal game and the Bandits crushed S2S. Gimme a break. They're all very competitive, as they should be at this age. This isn't 3rd grade anymore.

In theory your morally superior founding team tenets sound like something we should all aspire to. In reality, it sounds like you have cherry picked a bunch of talented multi sport athletes, and allowed them to be part of a team without any accountability to the team or each other. Sounds to me like everyone is a "guest" player. Doesn't that deprive these kids of the many inherent lessons of the travel lacrosse experience? i.e. team work, hard work, camaraderie, life long friendships, etc.

Get the score right Brotherly Love 4. HB 2. Btw HB has beaten StoS the last three times they played.

Because hockey is very transparent at the youth elite level (like lacrosse should be), and BL has published player names on their website (to their credit), I have identified the elite hockey player this director speaks of and I can say his story is legit. I know the tournament he was at in MN and know kids who played there against him. He is a 2005 birth year player and plays up during the regular season, but plays on age for these elite summer tournaments. Kid is at the upper echelon for 2005s in North America in hockey, so he is as elite an athlete as they come, although I have no idea what his lax skills are. I know kids who play at this level of hockey (not mine, who are not good enough, which is no embarrassment mind you) and the year round commitment is intense, and leaves little time for other sports. The only thing this coach is guilty of is letting a part time player play on his team. That is all. (And before people freak out and tell me to "get a life", I am in a position where I know the elite hockey players at this age in the region and it took me about 5 seconds on google to figure this out - typing the post took longer)
