McD is well known for its Middle School "offers" locally. Boys and girls. BL built a dorm to improve their lax program. Do you think the money there is limited to only facilities to lure laxers? Google the "One Fund" at StP. Google "Cardinal Crease Club" at CH.
Paying athletes was supposed to be a SECRET. One that's just vaguely hinted about. And only reserved for a few schools.
It's the reason so many of the old generation MIAA fans complained so much when Spalding was using MDLax money a few years ago. And when Poggi was paying for athletes unabashedly at Gilman. It was too brash. It upsets the old guard- it's only supposed to be done in quiet. And they don't like the competition.
Some of the moms on here seem bitter. Royal Blue Club at St. Mary’s is another one. It’s not secret, new, wrong or a bad thing. The poster above is right, there are probably 30-50 kids in hoco who will get courted. Some will go to private school who otherwise couldn’t afford it.
