Breakers and Crabs are among the oldest existing youth lax clubs in the entire region. Breakers had a series of great (or infamous) coaches and a lot of success in terms of D1-D3 recruits through about 2013, leveled off through about 2019, and has been in a spiral since then. Crabs is following the same pattern, more slowly, but at a more elite level.
Breakers 2028 team started to fall apart in 2019 when the team went from 3 coaches to 1. Wasn't totally for lack of talent - the roster contained current players on Crabs, FCA Blue, 91, FCA White, Predators, Sidewinders etc. The team added coaches who were - get this - current HS players. The team folded after the HoCo 2021 season.
Crabs 2029 had a similar experience in 2020-2021....toxic coach who then cut most of the roster after the next year's tryouts, leading to the coach's firing and the rest of the kids quitting Crabs. That team has also folded. |
