FCA was requiring players to attend tryouts, but then took players that didn't come to any tryouts. Clearly deals were done behind the scenes with better players NOT getting offers. Fact of the matter is FCA took in $6k in tryout registration fees alone - with ZERO spots up for grabs. The team was set before tryouts started. The second team only enabled this to happen.

When the dust settles, the top FCA team will be half Looneys and half FCA, with both coaches on the sidelines. Sounds like a disaster. The second team will be filled with kids that will have something to prove - and might surprise some folks.

FCA has done this for years and its probably true for most clubs. Tryouts aren't really tryouts at certain age groups. The teams are already set and they know who they are cutting and adding before tryouts even begin. There are always exceptions, but I think for the most part this is accurate and yes, they seem to be money makers for the clubs, taking in $40-$60 a kid.
