Most of the teams that are not from Long Island have much older kids on the team. Lacrosse is based on grad year so if there's a 16 year old kid graduating in 2025 then it's within the rules. Until youth lacrosse cleans up their act like other sports, this will be the result. Birth year is the easiest way, get valid birth certificates, submit rosters, etc. It's not that difficult. Every other sport is run this way.

This age thing is getting ridiculous! If kid doesn’t holdback , it seems he won’t be playing D1 lacrosse! Sad… come on lacrosse, fix this issue. Go “on age”! It used to be one year, now you are seeing 2 and 3 year holdbacks by the time they reach Junior year of HS!
I totally agree that club and youth lacrosse should adopt age verification standards, although it won't change anything at the college level. Coaches will insist the kids do post grad hs and/or continue to reclass. The transfer portal has forever changed the way college coaches and recruiters put together rosters. It's only going to get worse. Sadly, hs freshman and sophs are wasting their time doing recruiting events and showcases.
