Yet Spalding has the audacity of trying to get kids from...their own county!

Good on them. It's sour grapes from those who complain.

Most public school kids will have no problem adjusting to the atmosphere at Spalding although kids from strong public schools, like Severna Park, will likely have some culture shock as they adjust to the New Cut environment.
