College coaches have ALWAYS wanted kids who are interested in to come to their camps...this is nothing new. It is a valuable experience for PSA's to experience campus, the coaching staff and team in most cases. Likewise, it is valuable for coaches to work with kids to get to know them better as players and people and see if their work ethic and coachability squares up with their talent. I feel certain that kids have solidified their position on a coaches list by their performance at a camp and have also worked their way down or off a list as well.

What is new is kids going to 5-6-7 camps/showcase events in ADDITION to their summer club schedule. That is crazy. As someone said before, you have choices and parents can say no. Club and high school coaches should help kids and families with the decisions about camps. They should be able give you a sense of what programs are interested and which would be a good fit from an academic, personality and talent standpoint so you aren't just guessing.

One last thought. There are tons of games streamed on line. PSA's and parents should watch on-line and try to be objective about where they think their son/daughter can play. That can also help make decisions about camps/clinics, etc.
