UNC difficult. Maryland??? not exactly a reach.
The admissions criteria for both UNC and MD are almost identical. Maryland takes more students and more out of state students.
You are way wrong:
UNC= top 30 school, most selective, accept 30%
MD= top 60, more selective, accepts 45%
You are comparing apples to oranges, very different level schools.
