The only state that this benefits is NY. They should do the original 5/1 cutoff, but you have to be 2022 also. That is how it was the first year. Last year (5/1 and class of 2020 or younger), the second year they went to strictly age 5/1 and the grade didn't matter so they kids could have been a very young 2020 or normal 2021.

Grade base teams only let select kids play down?? When did youth lacrosse turn into letting only select group of heldback players get an advantage. Yea that goes with the spirit of YOUTH lacrosse.

WSYL just needs a age cutoff and teams can work with it. Everyone is on a level playing field with an age cutoff. Even tho the age cutoff of May 1 last year was to accommodate all the grade base teams loaded with holdbacks. Didnt work out for holdback teams when you have a level playing field of age base as WSYL showed.

Even if it is a crazy age base date of May 1, It will at least get the holdback teams to participate. Going to Sept 1 in the present holdback era of youth lacrosse will eliminate all the better Maryland/PA teams.
