Bertalone starting a travel club? True or false? Haven't heard that, but it sure would be very interesting. Why not? Seems like there's a new program announced every day now. Talent will be spread very thin on L.I., especially on the boys side, with so many programs popping up.

This is a lacrosse BULL MARKET on steroids! New clubs, clinics and teams every day. If I hear "my kid made the XYZ" one more time I might scream. Yes for about $2,000+ a year there is a place for everyone. You watch the YJ's will have 6 teams in some groups this year

Just curious why do the YJ send their 2021, 2020 teams to showcase tournaments? What are they show casing at this age? Its not what you think, showcase implies the tournament type. It means the teams play each other, hopefully equally matched, but there are no pools and brackets or playoffs or even a champion crowned.

Not all $50,000 schools are equal. Schools with huge endowments can offer much more in financial aide grants leaving a graduate with little or no debt. In addition any top school, whether it is a major university or national liberal arts school, such as an Ivy or Little Ivy, and you have a strong alumni that hires from their schools. Do not draw the conclusion that the schools in the US N&WR Top 40 (wherein many of the Ivies and "New Ivies" live) are itching to divest themselves of their endowment dollars in order to cover academic financial aid or grants. Also, your claim of graduating with little or no debt is inaccurate. Let's take you through the numbers. Be aware that once you move down the ladder (below HYPS with their $20B endowments), many of the schools have endowments significantly less than $2B. An institution that can afford a 3% payout from the endowment (which is high) will be able to make at most $60M available for all four classes of undergraduates and all graduate students. Using your $50,000 per year number, this would mean that only 1,200 students in total would be on a full grant and all others at the campus will be without funding. That comes down to 300 students per undergraduate class assuming no graduate awards. There is this uninformed view by too many parents that grants, academic awards, athletic awards, and financial aid is just dripping from the campus trees to cover your child's education bills. Be very aware what a $50,000 per year price tag really means for your family. Your math is actually right on. Taking away the larger Ivies with the huge endowments, the "Little Ivies" rarely exceed enrollments of 1800-2000 total or 450-500 per class. There are folks with income that don't need/want financial assistance. So a 1200 number receiving financial assistance in the form of scholarships/grants etc. is about right. 100% for all? Probably not. But if your child is academically successful (still hard to get in, lacrosse or not) it can be a much more successful future than choosing a school with a lesser reputation. who are these little ivies that you speak of? Amherst, Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, Colgate, Connecticut (not UCONN), Hamilton, Haverford, Middlebury, Swarthmore, Trinity, Tufts, Vassar, Wesleyan and Williams. My only point is down the road a $50,000 investment, with the availability of more aid, from these schools, will do your child well. They have very large endowments relative to the student body size. But they are small schools, some smaller than LI high schools and tough academic standards.

The first post was spot on, there's no reason for kids younger than 9th grade to play in showcase type events - NOBODY is watching, it's more PC nonsense - there are no losers, everyone's a winner and it was a great weekend of lax, blah, blah, blah... On the flip side in the championship format everyone knows who the final four in most age groups will be before the tournament starts - look at all the lopsided scores in the espn u-15 tourney this past summer as a prime example

They are speaking of that entire Mt.Sinai group, CR is not threatened by any of them, that entire Mt.Sinai group thinks they bigger than YJ itself. So if they leave YJ would fall apart. So Bert thinks he can startup his own thing with the help of "firefighter bill" and PM go for it. They are the cause for a majority of the problems in each group, hense where "family and friends" comes from and its not only on the 2019's!

Last year in the playoffs a great Mt. Sinai team beat Shoreham in the playoffs but unfortunately they did it with very little class. PM was a bull horn in the crowd coaching from the sidelines,,,,,taunting people with "whos gonna tell me to shut up to my face" and the varsity coach took a time out only to gloat and rub Shoreham's nose in it, classless. The girls on Mt.Sinai had a great year and will have a few more to come but with the likes of PM and a few other clown parents no one will cheer for a very nice group of girls. PM pulling any crap like that would be foolish but totally his MO as he recruits good lacrosse players from other school districts to come play at Comsewogue every year and every year some team with class upsets him in the playoffs and sends him and his big mouth home. Now thats something to cheer about. CR would likely show him the door just to be rid of him.

And one of the two years they did not win, they competed in Class B ball.

Sinai varsity coach fired and went on a witch hunt a season after the coach gets them to states, just because he can. He wanted his buddy as headcoach and got it. How many schools never even make it to states? Absolutely disgraceful, maybe there was a reason the current head coach at Mt.Sinai couldn't get a head coaching job in the past. Now these three clowns are trying to back door CR, running clinics, recruiting tournaments etc. CR you have a stable of excellent young female directors, regroup these young minds who are loyal and rid yourself of these weasels. You made YJ the success it is today, get back to basics keep the reigns tight, to many outsiders are ruining what you have built.

If you know the MT Sinai AD, who happens to be in the Lacrosse Hall of Fame, you would know he is more than qualified to make his own decisions. I think it worked out pretty good (especially for the girls). So for you people who love the drama, Sorry there is no drama here! Everything is just fine in YJ land an MS!

And one of the two years they did not win, they competed in Class B ball. It’s the same with the YJ 2019 Blue(Carro) team. PM is the one calling the shots on that team. Last count had 5 family members and 3 friends on the team. Most of those kids don’t belong on that team and ride on the backs of the kids that do. The parents on that team should speak up and stop being intimidated by him.

Who the heck is Fireman Bill? I believe they are referring to "PVM" Pres of Mt. Sinai youth lacrosse and the biggest [lacrosse] kisser and bs'er in all of youth lacrosse. This dirt bag got the Mt. Sinai varsity coach fired and went on a witch hunt a season after the coach gets them to states, just because he can. He wanted his buddy as headcoach and got it. How many schools never even make it to states? Absolutely disgraceful, maybe there was a reason the current head coach at Mt.Sinai couldn't get a head coaching job in the past. Now these three clowns are trying to back door CR, running clinics, recruiting tournaments etc. CR you have a stable of excellent young female directors, regroup these young minds who are loyal and rid yourself of these weasels. You made YJ the success it is today, get back to basics keep the reigns tight, to many outsiders are ruining what you have built. Lighten up Francis! Someone is stirring the pot! Bertalone an CR are great friends. NO ONE is starting their own club. It is all BS! So save the MT Sinai bashing for something valid. The Mt. Sinai AD made the coaching change not PVM. If you know the MT Sinai AD, who happens to be in the Lacrosse Hall of Fame, you would know he is more than qualified to make his own decisions. I think it worked out pretty good (especially for the girls). So for you people who love the drama, Sorry there is no drama here! Everything is just fine in YJ land an MS! Stop it "PVM" your the jackass with the big mouth boasting how "you got it done" with the replacing of the girls coach, your mouth is your own worst enemy. Be humble you do a lot of great volunteer work, just shut up! Maybe people would appreciate the fine team Mt.Sinai has had in the past couple of years. You and your loud mouth buddies need keep quiet and continue your winning ways with class. Look at Farmingdale and GC nobody is on these sites bashing them, they win on a consistent basis and just go about there business. You and your two buddies are in the minority people are tired of hearing all of you.CR is a [lacrosse] of a lot smarter than that and has her ear to the ground, starting with her directors they are not fans of BERT, PM and you. Keep Mt.Sinai business in Mt.Sinai that model may work for you and your community. If you want to coach than coach, if you want to be an administrator than be an administrator in your community, or just do just enjoy watching your children playing a wonderful game. With parents effort and a few good coaches it would be a great thing and a [lacrosse] of a lot cheaper.
