(The biggest advantage YJ have over TG is they give the girls an opportunity to play at a younger age (Hornets). The girls play in 2nd and 3rd grade make their friends there and go on to play for the YJ. TG does not have a program like that in place. YJ having the last tryout is also a great strategy.)

Finally!! Someone understands the business model!!!!!!!!!

Here is the YJ business model. Be the first girl's travel program on LI - good job. Then plug as many of your coaches as possible into the local HS programs as coaches. Then pressure the kids in those school districts to play for YJ's causing an extreme conflict of interest. Kids and parents feel they have to join out of fear of repercussions from their HS coaches. Families on lower level teams fear leaving because of those same repercussions. Then coach your kids year round which is against NYS high school rules. Then have 800 kids to tryouts and give 780 of them a spot on a team. That's elite right?

Elite should be the term reserved for the top team - or perhaps top two teams in a club such as the Yellow Jackets.

Lower level teams benefit by being part of an elite club structure and potentially gaining entrance into some showcase and tournament events from which they might be rejected. While those lower level teams themselves might not be in an elite category, they can benefit through their club association.

Whether 780 from 800 are offered team spots or 280 from 800 are offered spots, the elite teams are still the top ones within any age group. The concept of being an "elite team" does not vary with the number of spots assigned. An "elite club" is one which can consistently field "elite teams".

It is a family's call as to whether the services provided to those lower teams are worth the cost. That value judgement is done based on the family's budget, expectations, and potentially, offers from other programs.

So in the case of YJ, the top 2 teams in each group are considered elite? Can you list the top 2 teams by age group?

Call the Yellow Jackets and ask them for their top teams in their pecking order.

As for whether the top two teams can be considered elite is a question for each age group, one-by-one. Based on National Championships being held for the U/15 age group for the last two years, one can certainly conclude that the Yellow Jackets are indeed fielding two national caliber teams in these age groups.

This is not a knock on any of the girls, but how can any program in any sport call itself "Elite" when 90-95% of the athletes who try out make a team? Can you say money grab?

Because compared to the 20000 girls that don't do any club, they are elite. Why bash the weaker girls who just want to play more? Why do you care?

I could be wrong, but based on the few girls I know who play I believe the coaches are listed in A,B,C,D order here - just have to match the coach's name to the rosters page:

That is correct

How does that work out during the recruiting years? Do schools look at all teams or just the 'A' team?

It's clearly obvious how it works for the YJ organization. Look for example at there 2013 recruiting class kids from 4 different teams like 70 kids done. So all this talk about A B C D looks like it's worth it to be part of these teams they are finding a place to go to school with YJ name regardless of team.

100% done on the A team, about 60% done on the B team, 30% on the C team and maybe one girl on the D team.

Some of it is true PM is a very good coach and the team would be lucky to have him , that being said Tom Carro is also a very good coach and the team is very fortunate that he has been and still is their coach. Compare either of them to other clubs coaches in the same age group and you know why so many kids want to play YJ.The good news if you do not like either of these coaches you can go to another club and be coached by an unproven college kid. YJ 2019 Carro even has a great assistant coach so that is one team I would not worry about the coaching.

Someone posted that the 2 2019 teams coached by Bert and Costa were basically the same caliber of player and played each other and the game was close and could have gone either way. Anyone from 2019 know if this is true?

I think Berts team may have beat Carro last year as well.

You want honesty. Car has one of the best eyes for talent, and is a very good coach. She has put together a very successful provram that many envy. She has helped many get exposure and helped many girls reach college.
She is also very greedy, and charges alot of money ffor that help. The structure she uses ifs unfair if you are trying to get in later than the 6th grade . Her brand of lacrosse is almost dirty.
If your daughter puts that pinnie on she carries all of this, the good and the bad.
The parents of the Y.J. are largly a nice bunch. But many are obnoxious and nasty. You all think everyone wants to be a.jacket. and you arent very kind to others.

Good luck to your daughtersq

Those are not opinions just people from other clubs trying to start trouble. The funny thing is they make a very good point the top three teams at 2019 are very good but to be honest there top team is still considerably better then the 2 nd team which is considerably better then the 3.As to which teams are 2 and 3 ,who cares.

I'll go out on a limb and say the parents (maybe even the [players) care who is 2 and 3

What does this have to do with the prior post?
Maybe you should ask them if they can teach you how to spell and compose a basic sentence.

Lots of politics at play. Top team is very good and is hard to get on. Each year girls on 2nd team are told they will be moved to top team only to stay on 2nd team. 2nd team coach is an absolute wild man.

ok yellow jacket socks are on the web site and y do u feel it so important to put people down. As far as I can see all the yellow jacket families are just kids and parents thst love lacrosse and love spending time with each other. No matter what color team they r on. I am sure it is the same with ur club so y dont u just enjoy ur time with ur child and dont waste time hating on others. Has anyone from the program done anything to u so where does all this hostility come from. Please tell

There’s politics at every level, not just 2016. Unfortunately, this is something you have to deal with whether you play club ball or town ball, so you might as well get used to it.

Not as much politics as you may think in terms of who makes what team, several kids from high school programs that have so called connections where moved off the top team this year. The team is very solid and the kids all seem to get along with each other .They have had some issues in the past mainly with parents but all seems to be water under the bridge at this point.Overall a very good group of kids and descent parents.

Mrs. Mitchell,

Please to not let the immature, idiotic people on this site get to you. Know that you husband is a gentleman and a true teacher of the game to children.

Your children are respectful kids and tremendous lacrosse players and will be successful in whatever the choose to do.
