I agree, no one player should be scoring that many goals in a blowout. It's embarrassing and downright selfish. It's so obvious these kids are padding stats so they can win whatever award it is that will make dad happy. Pathetic.

Also, just looked at the blowouts, some of them like NS & WH no one player scored more than 3 goals. SE & HF have the 1 a*hole who has to score 7 or 8 goals. Those are the dads with the small pee pees ;o

Right.... Just like last year when the AA Fogo took 98% of the face offs all year long. Real smart.....
[/

You're right...I would never have my AA Fogo play that much...you might win too many face offs!!! Brilliant coaching strategy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What about in the blow out games? Let your AA FoGo continue to take virtually every face off? How about getting some of the talented undeclassman FoGos some live HS game experience? Wouldn't a smart coach do that to prepare for the following season?
No way SE gets past WM this year. SE dropped out of the national rankings. I guess preseason rankings really are pretty meaningless.
So HHW starts 0-2 after dropping down to Class B this year? Interesting. I wonder if they will miss the playoffs again this year. That will help the Coach get his summer camp up and running quicker.
I blame the SE Head Coach. Scared of the Father, and he had to make up for the zero goals vs Commack.
SE will be fine, maybe WM should start worrying about Commack! And what's this nonsense about fogos? Coaches play their best players to win games if you didn't know. Plenty committed kids remain on the 2nd and third string throughout HS barely seeing the field. This is most apparent in the goalie and face off position where there is only one player. The others can show their skills in the summer.
I think Ward Melville worries about every team they play, that is one of the reasons they always do well. All go, very little show at WM year in and year out. Maybe this is the year but I wouldn't bet on Commack. Was Melville even ranked in the National Pre Season polls?
agree, games like this should not be scheduled.but when played should be played to honor the game.m.c. called the t.o. and pulled their starters first. s.e. scored 2 more than went to the bench and played keep away. also someone said that kind of game is no fun for anyone,wrong! tell that to the s.e. bench cheering every play like it was a championship game. you guys beat a team that has to start 4 under classmen and plays 4 more. you put up 23 against m.c, good luck at states
No coach worth his weight leaves a starter in with a commanding 10 goal lead (let alone larger). Unless the back up is hurt or did something egregious. Starters start the game hence the phrase. Back up comes in maybe second half if you split or minutes in 4th if lead is insurmountable (save a fogo - they can be sprinkled in a game). Unless you think the back up can give a run for the starting job.
This is the tricky part this can back fire, listen to the team not the parents.
Has anyone noticed that the Newsday stats are almost always wrong. How do these things get reported? I heard winning team coach reports. Are coaches (perhaps including my own son's) intentionally under/over reporting or mid-reporting stats? Does Newsday just put no effort in? I can see why Newsday doesn't really care about getting it correct, but shouldn't there be some integrity? This can effect recruiting, no?
They never get it right. Especially assists. Winning team calls in stats. So very subjective. Coaches book is most accurate. Should not affect any recruitment or awards. All based on coaches stats not Newsday.
Actually it was the MC parents screaming. They even cheered when fogo was not moving on the ground with a possible conclusion. Give me a break! It was the third string kids scoring goals after the 1st quarter. Many of those kids will barely see the field the rest of the season. They deserve a chance to play ball too, not their fault the other team couldn't match up. This is not PAL, it's varsity sports.
Middle Country, How many HS did you merge to get a team? Try dropping down to play your HS enrollment and them come on here. Maybe nthen you can get a game. Should not even be Suffolk A in the first place blame your School board.
Should a starter stay in a game you are 10 over your opponent no. But I will say kids gotta get his minutes... Did he play second half... . Did he play second part of Second qtr... at what point does a starter come out. By half definitely. An 11 point game/day maybe some of the opposing team Players year.
Middle Country is made up of two HS. Imagine if Smithtown or Sachem did that
No need to do that. Just cherry pick the best kids and have them go to SE.
Sounds like the only accolades he deserves are biggest ball hog . If you don't see an issue with some ball hog player scoring 8 goals in a game that was obviously never going to be close than you are not only a moron but an a--hole . Tell the kid to pass the ball .
This has nothing to do with the SE HS Lacrosse Player, it is a coaching failure - 100%. Same coach had his AA FoGo take virtually every draw the past 2 years no matter the score of the game. Terrible. It really doesn't matter though as after this year SE Lacrosse will become irrelevant in Suffolk A.
Why is the blame on the player? He did what he is supposed to do. If you're on the field, you play the game 100%.
The blame and the shame should be on the coach who oversaw this and didn't adjust the lineup.
If you saw the game, you would know he also got a bunch of assists. So clearly he knows how to pass the ball. He is a senior having fun playing his last year of HS ball headed to a top lacrosse school. In college (and HS) the more points you get, the more recognition you get. Not all games will be like that, so you need to get the points when you can. Yes it's opportunistic, but so is life. I think you might be mad that he passed your son on the stat board.
lacrosse player, he a great young man. Smart, hardworking, kind and will do great things in life following his outstanding college education. And, no, I am not his father. Just an avid follower of the game. Let's keep the jabs about kids to a minimum. they are sill HS kids...no one here getting paid to play the game. this young man deserves all the accolades he gets.
Sounds like the only accolades he deserves are biggest ball hog . If you don't see an issue with some ball hog player scoring 8 goals in a game that was obviously never going to be close than you are not only a moron but an a--hole . Tell the kid to pass the ball .
Why is the blame on the player? He did what he is supposed to do. If you're on the field, you play the game 100%.
The blame and the shame should be on the coach who oversaw this and didn't adjust the lineup.
Yes the coaches are at fault for not pulling these players sooner, but there's a way to set up other kids, rather than shoot the ball everytime you have it. If my kids has 5,6,7,8+ goals in a game, I'm walking out with my head down. That's embarrassing.
You my friend are a total moron...not only is the kid an incredible
I don't know town statistics, but that is one [lacrosse] of a victory for a westchester team , smithtown is stacked with big time senior recruits. Great job to the John jay coaching staff
Was at the game. Biggest problem for Smithtown East is the coaching. Not having the best players on the field playing the key positions at the right time. Thought they looked a little more pulled together in the last couple years, despite the talent they still have. But, it was a great back and fourth game, and fun to watch. If East can figure some better strategies out they will do better moving forward.
Don't believe the hype of the windbags...they come around every pre-season. Funny they never say much toward the end. Just like everything else, if you have to advertise and beat your chest, you must not be that good.
