Use this thread to discuss lacrosse pertaining to 5th Grade Girls (2030 Grads) for the Fall 2022/Summer 2023 Season.
Reposting last post from previous SY:

Would definitely look at Igloo. My daughter went to the clinics and just finished tryouts and absolutely loved all the girl coaches they had. All very young and passionate about the game!
Igloo means you will be looking for another team when it folds in 2-3 years.

Do not go with new… go with ones that have a history of strong lacrosse so that your daughters team isn’t the one trying to lead the path
1. YJ Babst
2. Jesters Black
3. Flip coin between Legacy, TG
Wonder how MD United, Hero's, and M&D did with tryouts. Anybody grow? Anybody fall apart?
We shall see !!! Love what Lady Igloo is doing -
Jesters Black vs TG Black

If you had to choose for next year and beyond (ie recruiting years)
Hero's had some changes from Green to White I think.

MD United added a B team, they are very strong.

Jesters up and coming on an upward trend while top guns has been in the upper range of clubs for years but seems to be on a downward trend
TG black if you want your 5th grader to get berated by the coach.
The guy is a total embarrassment. No one in a coaching position should talk to a kid like that.Especially a girl.Maybe the apple didn’t fall to far from the tree.
Are we talking about Top Guns 2027 coach or are there more coaches at TG who behave this way?
TG has two family coaches that run around, the rest college kids. Go watch any practice or game. I would never subject my kid to that.
Lol, have you seen the list of college commits and All Americans on TG? If you’re daughter can’t take a little yelling, she’s probably too soft like you and shouldn’t be playing in college. But don’t worry, she probably wouldn’t make TG anyway
You don't know what you are talking about the 2030s are probably the other team that the Smith's don't run practice and games. They have a a coach who runs practices and games independently.
It’s one thing to have a coach that yells. It’s another thing for a coach to single out and degrade players on the field. Sure, some kids can handle it. But does that make it ok. I have watched this guy demoralize children. I have seen coaches from opposing teams come up to his players after the game to console them and let them know it’s not okay for the coach to do that. Are we, as parents, so stuck on the TG name that we would let someone do this to our kids, and pay for it? You Do yourself a favor and look into this guy’s recent issues. Might explain a little.
Again false info on TG. My daughter's 30' team played TG twice this year...both time the Smith son was coaching them. So yes, he does run that team. And yes, the way 30's were spoken to is unacceptable in my opinion.
Mental health they have numbers you can call and talk to people!
Easily Jesters unless your daughter just wants to go to Hofstra. Jesters director has tons of contacts ie relationships with colleges.

right because the only place TG girls go is Hofstra....you might want to stop making a fool of yourself and look at the schools the last two graduating teams are going to as an example.
Of course they are going places..not necessarily due to TG help though.

Where do you think the girls were recruited? Summer tournaments playing in top division. TG also had the the same amount of All Americans as YJ. No other clubs close

Doesn't matter where my daughter goes, she's the next CN
If your daughter is good it dont matter what team or club she plays for !!! Truth
What’s the deal with igloo?
How are you all talking about recruiting already … crazies
Long way to go.

From summer tournaments how does LI teams at 2030 compare to MD teams?

not many teams at this level going down to Maryland yet to play them...next summer will start to get a sense across all the big clubs

Just another reason not to join Top Guns. The mentality of the coaches and parents on the sidelines. Find another Club.

Agreed! At 5 grade, many girls just wanted to play a fun game. And many parents just want best training for their girls. Playing college lax is not everyone's goal.
27 kids on YJA team at this age....that's insanity.

How can they do that? Absurd. No way you can get PT for those kids and the gap in abilities will make practices tough.

they can do that because $$ and some parents are dense enough to pay
What Teams head to Fall Fray ?
Igloo Girls 2030 Arctic Blast were there. Beat 91 A Team and went 3-0 overall.
Thanks Igloo parent. 91a is a B team and the other two wins were B/C level teams in terms of talent.
Looking for a home for a 2030 goalie currently playing in one of the lacrosse towns in Nassau. Whats the appetite or probability? Should I just email Director/ coach? The goal is to transfer before the spring if possible

Also wondering if any of the clubs, at this age, are offering any goalie specific training or if any of the clubs have an ex female goalie on staff. Have just been doing the bi-weekly goalie clinics and working with a HS goalie for the past two years.

Thanks in advance.

Jesters. Great program with great training.
Reach out to the Jester's director.
The 2030 Jesters Black team is def looking for a goalie. Reach out to Colleen

Not a jesters 30 goalie but the winter training sessions with her were awesome for our older goalie and would highly recommend her and their training. Not sure if they offer her training open to public for goalies but for our daughter it was fantastic and the only goalie training shes enjoyed

Good coaches don’t stay at programs like jesters don’t bank on one person being there look at program as a whole

91 only has 1 goalie I’m sure they would like another. Director is a goalie coach and they have their own goalie training program
Umm, where do those coaches go? The better coaches haven't gone anywhere. If anything, more are moving there.
The training you get at 91 truly is better than any other club. No comments on the rest of the program but for this age, it’s definitely a great spot to be. Former top gun parent who sees an enormous difference in the practices
I would suggest a top tier girls only program.
What level is the goalie?
Whats the deal with Igloo 2030 team? Seem to have come out of no where and are being promoted very heavily on social media...its a boys club though and they have already folded the girls side once. I'm sure YJ will absorb them within a year.
Igloo Girls is just 2 (2032&2030)teams having fun and training a ton - We have tremendous respect for Yj and what they continue to accomplish year in and year out but no plans to move to there -
We have to 2 great groups of parents and kids looking to stay together, have fun and compete. Social Media is a great way to show the fun we are having !!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to All

You'll be sold to the bee within a year but thanks for the input coach.
These girls are so young why are you talking about selling teams already. If they are happy and getting better, who cares?

This team gets a lot of extra training and the people running it seem to have good intentions. Getting a stick in kids hands frequently and getting good coaches teaching them will help them excel.
91 2030s not looking too hot this fall. Whose coaching them now?

Igloo tied them at queen of the Island also so not sure they are as solid as they should be celebrating that.

Trolls nobody at 91 is celebrating anything. Very talented team that gets great training but has been inconsistent in games. Also missing bunch of girls at every fall tourney but I’m sure that goes for all teams. Good group let’s see how they do in spring
Will either of those teams play in the big summer tournaments? Like Genesis, LLL or Lax for the Cure?

91 will be in 1 or 2 of those. and before everyone bashes no they aren’t the best team in the country but the do have some very good players and hopefully will compete

Yes we will be at LLL

might be in 1 or 2? and there'e the problem. Vast majority of clubs have known the tourneys they are registered for since September. 91 is known for putting out a schedule of tourneys extremely late.
M&D 2030 is a machine, I think they've lost maybe 1-2 games in the least year, maybe to YJ and MDU only?

MDU is right there behind them. YJ is strong as well.

Either way, playing outside NY teams in those summer tournys will be huge for development.
Igloo actually beat them 6-5 at Fall Fray but its fall who cares - 2 good teams just trying to get better.

Past and current history says otherwise... it certainly won't be Igloo or 91.

Best team in the age group is YJ, next best Jesters (based on last two years).

I’m Not sure about that? If you Look at college commits this year, Probably, YJ, Top Guns, Legacy and Liberty had the better commits.

Liberty is a mess and a half. We haven’t touched a field basically all fall or winter
if you think Liberty is bad now , wait till next year when jesters buys them and they have 50 teams and no fields !!!!! Good Luck run for your life. Maybe someone in Nassau can do it right

I thought Jesters already bought them
Is jesters definitely buying liberty? I heard that is a rumor.
Almost done - I sense a mass exodus

It has been rumored for a while. Every so often someone just have to bring it up again and again. I wonder who has to gain here by spreading the rumor.

But I heard that Jesters doesn't even have enough field space for all the teams - 3-4 teams each grade. They put resources on the Black team, and that was it. High school/parent coaches for Blue/Pink/White
Jesters below Black is a giant money grab....4 teams at any grade level is ridiculous. No idea where they find all the sheeples to pay for that. Buying up Liberty now means 6 teams per year...good luck!!
I don’t understand why jesters would even buy liberty.what do they get out of it .

Jesters as jesters without liberty is a mess right now at the older grades. Grew too fast without the ability to handle double the girls and boys teams. Not enough fields, workers, or talent. The talent pool is so watered down now that most of their teams are not very strong- maybe 2 from the whole club out of the 3-4 per age group. I don’t have a 2030 but do have a 2029 who plans to leave at the end of the year.

Interesting viewpoint considering...26' black #4, 27' black #3, 28' black #9 in rankings...30' will be a top team too, 31's are strong...that's more than your 2 out of the whole club...their second teams at those respective age groups are rapidly improving too, especially 27' and 26' ones...the easy thing to do is leave...27's were similar to 29's a couple years back and have done a 180.

If you’re not happy go find another club… that’s why all these clubs exist. But the grass isn’t always greener.
Why a parent would subject their girl to the attitude, arrogance mean spiritedness of the top guns makes no sense. Their top players would have been top players on other teams. If you are looking for development then tons of options. In fact your daughter is going to develop further if she loves the experience, which she will not do at top guns. If she develops into a top player- plenty of other local options. Also here is a little secret.. go to the college coaches camp. Have the coach see her first hand, and stay in touch with follow up email. Good luck to all hope you enjoy your summers if not find another team. - you only get to raise your daughter once and it goes fast.

How many games did M&D 2030 lose last year? I know they went undefeated in fall, based on their social media account. LOL.

YJ parent posing as M&D parent...did you really think people would believe that a 5th grade parent from Maryland is reading LI lax forum...ha. YJ is very good, but their defense was far from being the toughest.

I actually am a Maryland parent 😀 was just paying a compliment to yellow jackets
I mean I am also a MD Parent, its not fool to click on another forum, especially since this one gets about 3 X the traffic.

Isn't this forum for more areas than just LI....just seems posts are monopolized by this area but it isn't exclusive.

Jesters are buying liberty? The Jesters are having trouble with the teams they have other than if you play on a "Black" team , Liberty has been on a downward slide for years they are running on fumes was great for a long time kudos to Danielle but she wants out and it shows. Jesters is turning into a factory a cash factory after "Black" teams ------- YJ is still tops of tops

Interesting take...if someone is selling a product and people buy it, what does that tell you...clearly there is a demand (yes, parent demand) for club lacrosse. No one is forced to play anything.

MD mom homer pick - M&D is #1, MD United is #2. Have the LI teams played ACES? Or any of the Balt, DC, VA teams?

I think lots of MD vs LI games over last summer and this fall.

Jesters I know lost in Genesis Championship to MDU.
In terms of rankings would put Tradition over Legacy given their 8-4 win over Legacy Blue this past October at the Fall Queen of the Island.

4. Legacy Blue
3. Top Guns? I have no idea haven’t seen TG play against any of the above.

Have generally seen the top 4 at the same tournaments. Not sure about TG.

That’s terrible. These are still 10 years old girls. I dont even think I’ve ever seen the coaches from top 3 teams at this age group react that way to these girls. I wouldn’t want my daughters confidence or self esteem destroyed by a D level team. Would suggest anyone considering joining to watch their games this coming summer.

Just saw the Liberty Tryout flyer….. now with Jesters purple (Liberty is black grey, red) and with Jesters 2 day format. Seems like it’s a done deal…Founder prob wanted to cash out. Once a storied program but with the rise of Jesters and GC Tradition in Nassau in recent years seems like a tough lax scene for Liberty. Think Liberty should have tried to establish something on south shore a few years ago. (On a side note Legacy established a team in Florida!!!)

Nonetheless, tough culture clash tooo between North and south shore. Can’t see those north shore families and girls wanting to wear Jesters gear. different types of crowds. And just putting it out there… time for GC Tradition to open their doors to these North Shore families… more synergies wink
Igloo program will be make a huge move in the north Shore market!!!
I also heard that Jesters are building their own indoor training facility. If that’s true they would be the only club on Long Island who is prioritizing training and that’s all I care about for my kid.
Been the rumor for a couple years now, but I'll believe it when ground is broken

Doesn’t team 91 have their own indoor facility?
Congratulations IGLOO on doing it the right way . They will lie and make stuff up . We will be at tryouts

Going to Igloo as Girls Program Director (and coach of a few teams)...she's fantastic - good pick up by them

Agreed she has been fantastic with my daughters and more important than anything my daughters leave her confident and happy.

Great role model and I can't imagine the type of person, or their motive, in spreading detest.

m

91 facility is not very small. It’s actually very good for training/stick skills the way they utilize it. But not big enough to scrimmage go full field
As some of us are looking to switch clubs this summer, it would be great to poll

1. How many times a week and how long do you practice
2. Parent coach or trainer led practices
3. Goalie coaching during practice

Would be great to hear from the clubs that have contributed so far on this thread.. Jesters, Liberty, YJ, Top Guns, and anyone else.

Thank you.

Can't a parent be a trainer too?! I'll assume you believe that so called trainers are better than parent coaches. There are plenty of parents who know the game, can coach and are fully invested into the team.

Lacrosse has historically been selfish sport. Don’t expect a reply here as parents don’t want you taking Suzie’s spot on a team.

Crickets….lol.. you’re not wrong
91 practices 2-3 x per week based on season. Outdoors at Hills, indoors in Commack. Head coach is in HOF at stony Brook as a player and is very high energy and great w the girls. Other 3 coaches are dads who have girls on the team but all coach in high school as well. Girls director does goalie training and they have an off season goalie program. Great group of girls

Doubtful, given where interest rates are and the banks are not lending like they used to. The cost to service the debt would be more than what they are collecting in fees For all the teams ($x,xxx per player) . They could go to an alternative lender but would be more expensive than bank financing. There’s always the option that someone would pony up the cash but doubtful.

so bottom line… unlikely

you also don't need indoor space to prioritize training, you just need access to fields consistently.

This model only works if you have a partner in another sports who can committ to taking a good chunk of the field time. The rumor for a while has been the SUSA is looking to build an indoor soccer facility. I'm sure they would be more than open to having a lax club share costs with them
Jesters is renting space and calling it their own.

Standings in MD.

Accurate,

M&D, tremendous size advantage and speed. Defense attacking. Will beat you on draws.
MDU, legit speed. can score from all over as well. good defense/goalie play
Hero's, solid team, lacks dominant scorer but good all around
BLC, a few very tall girls, solid, DC is strength
Coppermine, average is accurate.
July 22nd
I agree this is accurate (and consistent with league results last two years), although I think the gap between 3-5 is narrowing.

Finally some good NY/MD match ups at Lax for the cure.
M&D/HerosGreen/BLC vs LI Top Guns (Rose Bracket)
MDU vs YJN/Pred's (Carnation Bracket)
Looking to move clubs also 2030 girls..we were looking at the jesters but got turned off by the merger..so which clubs are the best for development and training?

Tons of 2030 on LI to choose from but what turned you off about the merger?
They already have 3 teams at that level..will this affect playing time and development?

Top teams heading into the next tournaments

1. YJ babst
2. MS United East
3. M&D black
4. Hero’s Green 6-5 win over top guns this last weekend
5. LI Top Guns
6. Legacy
7. Jesters

I'd have to put M&D in top-2 at worst. All three of those teams (YJ, MDU and M&D) can beat each other, there's a big tier drop.
Has any club directors announced anything about lax moving to an alignment by birth year and not grade. This is similar to what soccer does. So most girls in this age group would be 2012 and anyone born before would have to move up to the 2011 which is essentially the class moving to 7th grade this upcoming fall
Anyone know who coaches 2030 legacy? Where they practice? Any other info appreciated
Originally Posted by Anonymous

I think they practice in East Islip. I've always been impressed with their coaching and how they play the game. Good club that is just too far of a drive or us from out east.
Practice in east islip 2x a week

Legacy 2030 Blue coaching staff
Bayport varsity girls assistant
East islip boys head coach
Ward Melville boys head coach
Babylon girls asst. coach
JMU current player
Anyone know who coaches Top Guns 2030. The A team seems good but always hear chirping
Congrats to YJ for an undefeated season. Think their defense is best on Long Island for this age group. Don’t see them slowing down. Also.. sheesh such a large team. may be movement going out over the summer. Think Top Guns and Jesters get better and everyone else stays the same. My final rankings on Long Island for this age group:

1. YJ Babst
2. Top Guns
3. Jesters
4. Legacy
Big drop

5. GC Tradition
6. Team 91
7. Igloo
7. YJ wilkom
8. YJ Mullen
9. Top Guns purple

Tradition and 91 not far behind those teams. Also not sure YJ defense is their strength- they don’t play a lot of D cuz midfield so strong.
Everyone is chasing Babst but the gap will close this year and next - I think some will be surprised at where some move from and go to
Saw a lotta YJ at the camps the 2 major camps this week…

Not sure this is accurate.

Top guns black crushed legacy blue this weekend.

Jesters lost to legacy multiple times, top gunsX and Babst.

Igloo tied tradition A, best 91, and lost to legacy blue by 1.

91 lost to tradition by multiple goals last weekend.

Would probably say best is easily Babst and Top Guns black followed by legacy, tradition, liberty, jesters, and igloo being fairly equal on any given day depending which fifth graders show up that day.

91, top guns purple, Mullen, Willcom, lax on, recon, elevate, shore to shore definitely all wayyyyy below the others.

I would say most of this reasonable. Only had Jesters and TG black since they tied this weekend and legacy blue lost bad 11-1 to TG this weekend. But don’t think your take is unreasonable other than would put Jesters over tradition since they beat them multiple times this year. liberty I have no idea… never see them at tournaments with the top LI teams.

Otherwise, I think TG and Jesters closes that gap this upcoming year given movement from the other teams listed after the big drop.

This is a strong age group (this was the year right before the blackout and we were 3-4 years removed from the financial crisis on the up and up) a lot of the 5th grade classes on the island are the largest ever in many districts.

Anyway, will be fun to watch this group over the next 5-6 years.
May be easier to break into the roster at 2 and 3 than it is on the 1 YJ babst roster. May have new top team next year smile

91 beat igloo 10-3 last time out, lost to jesters black 7-3 in a very close game and played horrific Vs tradition. Legacy had an equally bad game Vs Top Guns. Top guns lost handily to Babst just like everyone else. There are 5-6 decent teams who all can beat each other, Babst clearly at the top above them. Can’t interpret 10yo teams based on a game or 2. There is decent talent on all the teams but Babst clearly ahead of that group
No argument just opinion from knowing a bunch of the players that teams 2-7 very even
Sounds like another angry YJ parent..
Babst is head and shoulders above the rest today - but agreed 2-7 is a toss up - 91 lost to igloo then beat them in Fall which was meaningless- Top Gun showed well - Legecy not a great summer lost to Top Gun 11-1 and beat Igloo 6-5 - Tradition beat 91 12-7 - going to be a fun few years remember it don’t matter where you start but where you finish
There is going to be a lot of movement between teams after tryouts the next couple of weeks. It seems like a lot of people aren't happy where they are plus some new teams/programs coming online.
Disagree on Jesters from what I have seen this past year. Lame coaches, in and out, lack of communication and transperency. Practices [Censored], my daughter comes home and tells me it was boring and she is. a sponge , worker and drill lover.
We are headed to Igloo 1st look curious to see turnout. Hearing good things but want to see

You will get great training at both 91 and igloo- teams may not be there but they will be
Thanks for acknowledging my long post, much appreciated . Just telling it like it is, FACTS thats all. Im not a yeller or dad that screams from the sidelines or bleachers, I keep to myself and just watch the boys and girls play. All we want to see im sure is fairness all around, solid coaching staff, kids getting coached up, along with kids also sent to the bench if they are hurting the team, selfish, hero ball, etc.... Basically we want to watch good lacrosse, team passing, sharing, extra pass , and leadership from coaches right? i do not like to get involved in any of this travel world, but after what my 27 son went thru at S2S , and how there was such lack of leadership from ADMIN to the coaches, it was a complete disaster, and when i called them out on it, amongst other Fathers on the team as well, they pulled the old defensive ploy, claiming they had no idea what was going on with the 2nd team , sound familiar here??? Thats not how you are supposed to run a program , and the old famous line we all here at these program introductions, 'We are not a money grab organization' I felt as a Dad and Coach myself, I knew what was going on and now seeing my daughter go thru some of her own travel lax politics and shadyness of this program now, i felt I needed to step in and help her stay the course while all this outside interference with her program was going on. Thanks for all the info on the other 30 travel teams, we also researched them if we need a plan B if she does not make the Black team this go around . I honestly dont know how she would not make it, so this should be real interesting at tryouts and how this plays out. Thanks for the positive vibes for my daughter moving forward people, nice gesture there.
Have a great weekend ALL. Good luck to all your daughters at there next tryouts. Im sure i will circle back in the coming weeks.

I’m confused why you would stay for any team after your experience
Older parent here. As was told to me, and I will tell you, every team has different pros and cons. Thr grass is not always greener…and I’m not saying you should stay if you’re u happy. But I will say, you may not be happy where you go either. My daughter has friends on their 4/5/6th club team looking for thr perfect team. It doesn’t exist. The coaches you love leave, girls quit. Yes, even at recruitment time girls leave a club or quit outright. Even YJ A teams lol. Yep, they do. They are all political. They are all endless [Censored] of $. Go where you can tolerate it the most. Know at this age things will change a lot. This is not your forever team. Ask girls that are in college, 202-2026 how many they’ve played on. Many. Don’t think because you’re on an A team today “you’re good.” Girls get cut and others get moved up. It changes fast sometimes by your doing when you’re fed up enough. Others because they found girls better and you’re dropped to B or C lol. It is brutal.

Well said.

my daughter is a 2023, played for only 2 programs and move to the 2nd program occurred summer of 2018.
Any big moves at tryouts??
Regarding Jesters, went to tryouts this week. Received invite for Jesters Blue. Is that the B team? I think they just have Black and Pink this summer

4 teams?!? That's insanity.
Absolutely, people are fool
Does anyone have an update on Liberty lax for this age group? Trying out but my only concern is players leaving. met a couple liberty parents at TG, and YJ tryouts. I assume some liberty lax girls went to tryouts at jesters as well. The age group above this 2029 didn’t seem to play too many games based on US Club max rankings…

Liberty 2028 Black played a very competitive schedule and is a great team. Liberty 2028 Red is a decent B team considering a small program. I am merely providing the information as you seem to be trying to use older teams to predict what would happen to 2030....
Any teams get much better??
Observations from tryouts.

Tried out for:

YJ Suffolk
Top Guns
Liberty
Jesters

——-

YJ Suffolk- 1 day 2 hours about 90+ girls…strange setup where the A team wore blue pinnies, B team wore yello pinnies, new girls wore red pinnies. Seemed like only B team could only scrimmage and do drills with the A team. new girls were generally nudged to play with the B team and weren’t necessarily permitted to play the A team. No to much defense was played. All shots on top of the crease on top of the goalies. Not sure what they did for the goalies to tryout. Making 3 teams this year. Tryouts finished early with about 30 min left

Top Guns- 1 day 2 hours about 80-90 girls pretty transparent tryout. Speed test/ race. About 5 Small sided games. After each small sided game, girls were filtered to other fields. by the end 1 field pretty much had the A team. really had to be special player to shake and bake as defense was pretty good.

Jesters- 2 days 2 hours each day about 70-80 girls…drills and small sided games. Same type of filtering where 1 field ended up with the A team players Good defenses. Players were pulled to the A team field. Felt Massapequa players favored…it is what it is…. All works out at the end.

Liberty 2 days 90 min each day..about 60-70 girls…drills small sided games. Girls filtered to A team field… too hot for tryouts back to car with AC

-Most tryouts seems pretty fair except YJ
-heard of a lot of politics involved for certain teams. Girls still on A team based on 3rd grade performance… basically legacy admission to A team bc older sister played or something similar.
- legacy admission bc favoritism towards hometown of club I.e. Massapequa
- Top guns seems to be the only one with a goalie program. Really took time with the goalies
- YJ- everyone at tryouts including the new girls could make top guns, jesters, liberty A team. Did not see a ball dropped or a passed missed.
- lax on Long Island continues to be strong. 70-90 girls at each tryout
YJ WILL BE TOPS AGAIN BASED ON SUCCESS
TOP GUNS ALWAYS GOOD
LIBERTY IS A SINKING SHIP
IGLOO NEW KIDS ON BLOCK BUT DOING IT RIGHT
JESTERS IS A MONEY GRAB UNLESS TOP
TEAM
LEGECY ALWAYS SOLID
S2S TRAIN weak
LAX ON ?
91 ANOTHER DUD
Wanted to share supplemental tryout info with families still looking for a home as 2030 is one of the bigger age groups on Long Island (5th going to 6th)

Jesters: August 9th
Shore to Shore: August 16

Feel free to add
Thoughts on S2S & Liberty Red?
New to lacrosse - is shore 2 shore an A or B team?

To both of them? For a beginner player?
In thr same boy with a child who is just starting. It doesn’t matter at this age….they will learn and catch up to thr kids who’ve been playing for years in a year give or take. Just go to all the town/PAL clinics yiu can to get her to improve. As she gets better try out for a better team. Did this with my older daughter. At this age they gain so much so fast. You don’t need to be on the best team at this point. Trust me….have your daughter practice in the backyard, enjoy it, learn and then worry about travel teams etc and what rank they are. At this point do it based off price, location, practice schedule etc. fool times are coming don’t rush it 😀

How can they do that? Absurd. No way you can get PT for those kids and the gap in abilities will make practices tough.

they can do that because $$ and some parents are dense enough to pay

especially considering only 13-15 kids will play in a majority of their game.s

Does not look like anything was corrected YJA carrying a hefty 25 players. think something happened. Saw the coaches for the 3rd team listed on the site, kids friend received an offer from the 3rd team but still only 2 Suffolk teams. not sure if there were enough players that accepted for the 3rd Suffolk team. YJB Suffolk gonna be good. Good luck to the teams

24-25 pretty standard for top teams. Not idea but that’s the number. It’s better than 27

100% false, not the standard. 21 more like it.

To be fair to YJ, they had non-YJ girls in both the A and B groups. Most if not all of them went to a few YJ practices in the spring or summer. That is how you get on YJ's radar.

To your point, if you have never worked at a YJ practice or clinic before, trying to stand out in a 2 hour tryout is difficult. If you are really serious about the club in the future you need to show interest in the spring or summer.

If you have the option of both, you choose the one where you’ll get more playing time. You can outsource training.

Other things to look for:

1. Are they playing in tier 1 tournaments love love lax, lax for the cure etc. Tournament that D1 college coaches attend

2. club directors relationship with college coaches (this is why I think Liberty will not go away.. DG connections for top 10 lax college coaches and all the Ivy coaches through the years…also think this is why Jesters made the partnership with liberty. Access to the Rolodex) by default you’ll see this by where the clubs college commits are going. Anyway think TG has the relationships here while Jesters is catching up which is why I say playing time

3. Training
