@BackOfTheCAGE
BOTC is opening our Fall 2015 through Summer 2016 thread covering the Boys 2025-3rd Grade age group.
So to my knowledge (and please add or correct.) These are the clubs that fielded a 2025 team this past season. In no specific order. I tried to be helpful and give where I think the teams practice. This always seems to be a consideration when selecting a club to tryout for.

Bengals (Nassau)
Empire (Suffolk)
Express (Nassau and Western Suffolk)
Legacy (East Islip)
Team 91 (not sure)

Let's keep the thread informative and helpful for all.

had a team this past year?
I wonder if any of 91orange is coming back???? I hear it is going to be a mass exodus. Every parent was disappointed. It's a shame.

oh God. your third grader is here to save the team.
Coaches are very important!!

Does anyone know who is coaching each team (if there any changes to existing 2025 teams), which will be a big part of the decision on which tryouts to attend?

Bengals
Legacy
Igloo
Outlaws
Says Paul Selhorn for Igloo, not sure who that is though
That's not correct. 2025 Igloo coach is Kevin Kemp. Very good coach. Nice guy. Great with kids. He did a few winter clinics my older son was in and they were great.

No I'm fine. thanks for asking chief.
The attack on Orange 91 Never pass the ball! We played them and it was really hard to watch. Not to hard to score 3 goals a game if you Never pass the ball. Dad better wake up your boys future is limited with that play. But keep walking up and down the field with your Red Bull yelling at your son and telling everyone how good he is. Kid will be burned out by 5th grade.
You played them, its hard to watch you wrote. First you didn't play, your son did. Second [lacrosse]hole , all they do is pass, you lying lowlife. They are 8 yrs old. Hard to watch. Tell us what team your son is on, I want to see your mini paul rabil. Last you sissy, if you have a problem with a dad, confront him like a man. Lets see you talk as tough as you type. Lets see.
I live out in riverhead. Does anyone know a club team for 3rd graders that practice not too far.

Even on botc I can tell this is the bald fire hydrant looking guy! You ain't so bad!
Is the fire hydrant guy a coach with them? Or does he just walk up and down the sideline with his stick yelling at the players. I will say he is comical to watch.
Full head of hair thanks. Lol.
Tournament season over for 2 weeks. Time to get a life people. You sound pathetic.

One...it's clearly stated in their website
Heard tryouts could be 60 plus kids. A lot of kids don't make it then. My son isn't great, I was hopeful of 2 teams. Can't travel to far. Thanks

Tryouts are 8 hours for 100 bucks. Can't beat that and if he is a good kid you never know. If syosset is close, you could try Bluefish

I thought Bluefish we're going out of Hofstra? Force practice out of farmingdale. vipers out of Bethpage. Plenty of choices.
Thanks
Thanks for info, i have babysitter bringing him to practice need to fairly close. Good luck with tryouts everyone. Thanks again.
Try the Long Island sharks . 3rd grade coach this year is very good and team is going to be more instruction based then just trying to get a good tournament team out there

I hope he better then last years 3rd grade coach. That guy just rips into the kids.
I think the 10th grade coach is coming down to coach 3rd . He is a good teacher and very good dealing with kids at this age.
Sean Krieg for the bengals. Former varsity coach and Massapequa alumni. Also played at bucknell
John Foley dropping from 2018 Outlaws to coach 2025 Outlaws. He coaches at Cold Spring Harbor. tryouts in northport/huntington. practices in huntington.

Are they going to have kids play down again this year?
I thought MB was coaching outlaws team?
Teams have 2, 3 coaches
Mike Brennan is Coaching With the 2025 LI Outlaws Team, Coach Foley among others might be helping.
Chris Fiore all American at UMASS, Tewaaraton finalist, former UMass assistant and MLL all star will continue to be at the helm of the Legacy squad. Great coach and even better guy!
Who are the LI Express coaches for their 2025 teams?
Any thoughts on Millon Force for this age (2025)? Was thinking of having my guy tryout.
I saw that Bengals team play last year, it was nothing more than a glorified town team. very unorganized

Michael O'REILLY is the head coach and did a great job with the kids this summer.
Thanks for the Express answer. Good luck next week at tryouts for those who are going down.

you are such a loser. I'm so embarrassed for you. Some might say that a person that feels then need to bash someone else especially children is trying to compensate for their own inadequacy. YOU are probably an average father, an average employee, an average spouse, and if I had to guess you were a less than average athlete. Get a life. Your pathetic.

I'm laughing very hard, I would say with above average intensity.
So not true. There were kiDs from all over. They even won a tournament and finished in finals in another. Anything but disorganized. I was told no. Kids played up last year. Not down

[quote=Anonymous]So not true. There were kiDs from all over. They even won a tournament and finished in finals in another. Anything but disorganized. I was told no. Kids played up last year. Not down [quote=Anonymous]

They didn't win any tournaments last year and they didn't play up. They registered as a 2025 team in weak tournaments knowing they had 2024's on the team.. That's cheating. They did the same thing with their 2021 team. Had 2020's on the team but played in 2021 brackets.
Bengals (Nassau)
Express (Nassau and Western Suffolk)
Legacy (East )

We will be trying out for Legacy, Hurricanes, and Hitmen. Doing my research and talking to a few other parents at tournaments this is what I heard:

Bengals - not a good program only had a few practices and basically what is posted above seems to hold true from the 8 or 9 parents I've spoken too. The guy I spoke to on the phone from the team was nice but did seem a little arrogant when I asked how he compared to other teams. For a 2nd year program that didn't do much I was expecting something a little more humble. Plus I asked about the pricing since it looked cheap compared to other teams, I was told that that is only for 10-15 practices for the year and that Fall and Winter are additional. The costs for both would bring it at or above even the big name teams.

Express - formed late in the year with kids mostly from the same area as the Benglas. When it started it was great but in the end they weren't given what they were promised and the coach screamed and cursed at the team. Not something I haven't seen before unfortunately but for 3rd graders too much I want my kid to have

Legacy-another big name I heard mixed things similar to that of Express and my personal experience

These are from my hours of research. I don't have personal experience with all the teams. What I do know is that when you hear the same things over and over from different people there is a good chance at least part of it is true. That's why my son will be going to Legacy. (In no particular order)

That's my $.02

They won the summer sunset. Check it out. The 2025 team had no older kids. All second graders. Get your facts correct. Check the rosters. Amazing what people will say. My kid was on team and your telling me they never won a tournament. It's amazing what people say on here. As far as 2021. All 6th graders again check it out. The girls team had 3/4 graders on it and they played 4th grade teams all year

They beat pal teams at summer sunset no good teams were there.

Also it can be proven they had kids play down on both teams. There's a reason everyone says it.....

Yup, 100% fact they had kids play down all year. Embarrassing program.
Don't know if the Bengals had kids playing down but I do know the Hitmen had kids playing down on their 2025 team. Another embarrassing program.

those two programs should just merge and call themselves thr Play Downs
Hitmen won an 8th grade division in 2 different tournaments with all 7th graders. Their 6th grade team did lose to the bengals but that bengals team had 8th graders playing in 6th grade division so what do you expect? With their 8th graders they only beat Hitmen 6th grade team by 2 goals.

As for 2025 looks like you might need to recheck the facts. I think you confused the bengals 2025 playing down and still getting beaten by the Hitmen...it sounds like they may be trying to deflect off themselves and spread false rumors. If you're talking about shootout for soldiers which is the tournament referenced above they were all 2025 except for 2 players who were 2024 but does it matter when they played a 2023 team so everyone was playing up anyway?
You want a good program for your child then legacy is a perfect fit! Going on my third year , amazing staff ! The boys have a great time and learn the game the right way! Good luck!
Unless it is totally an issue of travel convenience, why would either of these programs be a consideration? And if you don't want the travel commitment why not just supplement PAL with a camp or clinic or two and save your cash?
You guys are hilarious who talk lies and untruths as if they know facts. For people reading this board. Do not believe everything you read. Do your own research and call these programs. The most important thing any parent should be worried about is "who is coaching their kids". Stop chasing the bumper stickers. Most of these teams have college kids coaching. They might understand the game real well. However transferring that information to a child is a whole other ball game. If somebody's reading these boards and that's what you are basing your opinion on then shame on you
Absolutely! Could not agree more with the above poster.
Is Mike Reilly the only express 25 coach? Thinking about attending the tryout but don't want to have to travel that far west to practice

yes, unless they get 50-60 kids at tryouts which is doubtful. Winter training is all in Nassau and spring/summer will be at Kellenberg, NYIT or St Anthony's.

And word is that his team is already filled with a good number of kids who played for him this summer. These are not fully open tryouts.

Bad info buddy...100% open tryouts. Half of the summer team isn't even coming back.

And also, doesn't every returning kid from any team/program have a leg up on the new kids in tryouts? Yes, they usually do.
It's THIRD grade!! If your kid has skill and shows he's an athlete and coachable, most coaches would grab him. Mike O'Reilly is excellent with developing the little ones. There is plenty of room on that team. Not many kids at 3rd grade are ready for a travel team. Make sure your KID is (not YOU). They have to WANT to play.

Correct. The team only had 15 kids. There is plenty of opportunity to make the team. And you'll get a dedicated coach for the entire year who has a lot of experience teaching kids at this age level and he makes it fun. Also, makes sure all the kids play a fair amount.

at this age you would think the 2025 tryouts would be totally open. Considering the noted loyalty of this particular coach (and his kids parents it seems), it is apparent to me that many spots are already taken. I believe that these organizations have a responsibility to tell parents (and kids) what they are in for.

Little Johnnie needs to know if he got cut because he needs to work harder or if he didn't make it because other kids have undeniable connections.

Again...open tryouts
Express summer team was open to anyone that signed up for his clinics. There was 15 kids from all over that paid an additional $500 to check it out. Most probably won't be back for this year

so are the clinics included now by Express or extra cost?
Don't know. Coach did a summer clinic and then they sent a flyer out for a summer team just to get something started. A few decent kids that I believe he already had and also some kids that were getting a taste of what it is about

Preset teams, tell the truth.
turnout was very small tonight... combined 2025/2026. All together about 21 kids. 6 of them were 2026...
Yes...some returning kids will make the team. Plenty of new kids will make the team too.

I guess they have to start somewhere, maybe if they are good enough they will have the 2026 play up to fill out the team. The parents better be happy with skill building ahead of winning, because that attendance sounds like the team will not be strong right out of the box.

Not sure what peoples expectations are for numbers at a tryout but at 2nd and 3rd grade in middle of august any club will be lucky to have enough there to fill a team. Also, too many clubs now so the pool gets diluted further. All of these clubs even the big ones will have another round of tryouts in fall or winter. At a minimum will be adding kids. Even the A teams.

Hey, are we talking about Express? In the past they would have been over run with kids! Even two years ago the tryouts were packed. They are planning two teams but don't even have enough for 1. Not a great omen for the future

I just think parents are thinking twice before getting their kid into travel sports as earlier as some are. Even in ice hockey, they have the mite division, but many kids still play house teams until 4th, 5th or 6th grade. Travel sports demand a lot of time and effort from the whole family. If you have older kids playing travel, often times families have to split up and go to tournaments separately. If it is your oldest, you may have to travel to full day tournaments or on the road with babies and toddlers in tow. I do not think this has anything to do with Express, but more about the amount of money, time and commitment that is required by travel sports. Just think about the time and money that will be spent if you start your kid this early in travel and they play through high school. I think that is what a lot of families are thinking before they sign up for the younger teams and choose to wait it out a bit.

there's also a population dip for kids around this age due to recession. plus admit it - we're all nuts for letting our kids do this in elementary school. maybe more parents are pushing baseball if the table stakes of lax is spending $1000+ and 3-4 summer weekends starting in 3rd grade
More like 2 to 3 k all in.....
Igloo had 50+ this morning for tryout
Any idea on the 2026 #'s?
30.. some were late due to diapers being changed and late feedings

There were only 10 2026's signed up the other day. $1800 for 2nd grade is a bit steep but those kids will get great training.

Population dip? Kids were born in 2007, before the crash! And if my calendar works right, most were conceived in 2006, I know my boy was ... But that was a good try for an explanation. I'm going for the too many teams argument!

Still crazy!!! Pay the PAL fee, keep your kids in town until at least 5th grade. It makes no sense paying the time and money toll on the families. My cheap 2 cents.

PAL is not good, period. Too many kids who can't catch and throw. Don't be cheap, you get what you pay for.
Clinics & PAL is a good choice too. Make sure you get a coach that clicks with your son, corrects him & makes him love the game. Those are the key ingredients at this age. If you can get that thru clinics & PAL, skip the club for now.

Agreed
PAL is a joke. To many Daddy coaches
What do you expect, people to actually coach kids , when there kid isn't playing. People have jobs and lives. I don't know any PAL team in any sport where someone just volunteers with no child on the team.
except the guy from Subway..
I do! The best PAL coaches in our town. They love the sport and enjoy coaching the kids. We are very lucky! I can count at least a dozen.
There is a difference between coaching teams the right way. If your son doesn't belong in a certain spot or deserve to start than as a coach you need to realize that and keep it fair. To many kids are out there over another kid because dad thinks he one day will step up. Not fair to the kid that works harder and deserves the spot. Everybody sees it except the dad coach and that is embarrassing and sad.
Hey at least these "daddy coaches" step up and coach, for free mind you. There wouldn't be a $100 per kid PAL team without these guys. Don't like it, don't put your kid on the team. No need to bash people who are investing time in other peoples' kids who do so on top of their own busy schedules.
Thats nice that you do that, but between work, family, my own 3 kids numerous sports. To find 3 days a week to v olunteer coaching other kids would be impossible. I don't know anybody who does that. That's one really nice town you live in.

It's usually guys who played & don't have kids yet or those who's kids are grown or those who's kids don't play lax but the dad loves the sport. I guess we are lucky because we have a bunch. I've been lucky to be on a few of those teams. My other boy got the shaft with the daddy coach who only played his son & his friends. In that situation, put them in clinics.

Don't think so...not easy to do all of those personal calls and spend time with each family. Classy way to do it, but painfully long to get done.

not to mention some kids are deciding between multiple teams so they have to give them some decide. They mentioned at tryouts that it could go on till the end of the week.
True Blue just put together a 2025 team. Looks like Gordon Purdy from Addlphi is going to be coaching them, reasonably priced @$900 for the year, I think they are doing a last call tryout in the next week or so.

It makes sense since Purdie is tight with TB director but what happened to Sharks? If he didn't have time for that program how would he make time for True Blue? Isn't he also coaching the Australian team? Just looking for some insight since we have twins at 2025...
I just heard that JS will likely be bailing on 91 Orange.

No real shock there. he put his name on the team for tryouts and bailed when he realized they weren't going to be the Bandits. Sounds like JS to me.
Yeah ok. You just heard. Well if you heard that it must be true rite. Lets be a [lacrosse] stirrer on the holiday weekend.

I could be wrong, but he and I have a mutual friend who told me. Between 2023 Bandits, 2020 Crush, Stony Brook, Lizards and 2025 Yellow Jackets he is spread too thin. His daughter will likely be playing on the YJ girls team instead.

That does sound like a lot. I didn't realize he was doing Yellow Jackets too.

if his daughter is doing YJ he is not doing Orange. Good thing he got the truyout money

I heard the same thing. It stinks for the parents that were duped into joining.
Wrong will 100% be coaching 91 orange straight from the man himself ! Wishful thinking I guess for some
He just tweeted out he is look forward to 91 2025 practice so I guess they are reading this and your checks didn't clear their banks yet

You're probably right. I can't imagine he would be there much anyway.
Count your blessings if he's not there!
Any update on this rumor??

He has a DAUGHTER people! How long do you think he's going to stay? If you are depending on an MLL coach to take your son to the next level you should wake up. Grab a stick and have a catch with your son.
One thing is not a rumor, it will be a heck of a lot better than last year.
Not with that crazy fire hydrant commack father screaming on the sidelines. You know the one with the stick in his hand.

Whatever time the team gets from Coach Spallina will be valuable time and the organization will want their team to win. Coach Rooney is no Rookie and has a proven track record. Plus, his son will be on the team. I for one am pleased with this arrangement for my boy. I would say you will be able to judge the success of the staff by the improvement of the boys skills and their level of team play.

If they play as a team and move the ball, then the results will be there for all of us to see.
What happens if a team has tryouts, charges $$, then doesn't field a team?
Do they refund the fee?

They usually don't but it's worth asking.
what are the top clubs at this age ..... I know its 3rd grade
are you kidding me?...even though you said "I know its only 3rd grade'?....you are what's wrong with kids sports, my man

Express? Getting mauled in one tourney in late July doesn't qualify as a returning team

Third grade now, so they were coming off of 1 season of competitive play. And they got "mauled"?! Seriously? Maybe there was a big birthday party the night before.

Sorry you are such a bitter man but they did beat Empire and 91 white who both played all season last year. Express started in June, kept the cost low and still played 2 summer tourneys. Let me guess, your little Johnny was 3 string attack on the Geese, or was it Orange?

That's it they didn't play a season like legacy or 91. They played one tourney with an invite only team and weren't ready. So.....would put them with all the orgs with first time teams this year.
Legacy won by one goal. Let's be realistic.

Wrong again...June Start, 2x Tourneys (Lax Clash and Lax 4 BackPax) and 1x scrimmage (Geese) and about 15 practices. All for half the price that the other teams charges. We know you hate the coach but at least get your facts straight.
Spallina is coaching 91 2025. Should be interesting, as he does not like to lose, and already practicing 2x a week!

Making their debut this weekend. No pressure on them or anything but Joey did tell the parents they would never lose a game. NX
Great game in the finals today. 91 outlasted Express 8-6 in a back and forth game. Congrats to both teams.
You realize that wasn't the finals. They took 3rd place. Behind orange and white. Orange and white were the final two teams.
Actually the express took 4th place behind Million.

What was the score when Orange played Millon and White again. I missed that..
Never is hard to believe. Legacy will beat them once again

Couldn't agree more. Fun and competitive game. These two teams will get to match up plenty. Some really good talent out there for 3rd grade.

That's why the winner of the two 2-0 teams (Express and 91 Orange) was awarded the t-shirt. And all the kids were winners yesterday.

White received shirts too. Good for the boys.
You guys have nothing better to do than talk about third grade lacrosse.
CREEPY.....same guys who walk around in David Wright jerseys and bring their gloves to games...

and that is the reputation of being a jacka$$ unsportsmanlike D-bag cheating coach who plays kids down when any of their orange teams need to win ? Yeah, sounds like the 91 reputation will continue. Great job.

Suck it!
I knew this was a good place to stop by for a laugh. Some really angry people on this board.

The Express v 91 Orange game was a great game to watch. Real nail bitter. Ended with a sick save by the '91 goalie man down in the last minute. All lacrosse games should be that exciting. I think both teams will be looking forward to a rematch.

Truth hurts doesn't it 91 daddy.
Say what you want about the unsportsmanlike that's your opinion. Having seen his older teams they nearly always play up so if playing up is cheating then Bingo Now get out back and have a catch with Junior

my third grader picks up ground balls and then hustles to open space just like he is taught, then he sees a choo choo train go by and drops the ball and runs to look at the train. he is getting there, we are very proud of the way he is still amazed by choo choo trains and firetrucks and sometimes airplanes. Hurts his goals scored stats, but I am sure his college coach will understand with a little explaining when he asks "what happened in 3rd grade?"
I'm sure there is point to that paragraph.
think the point is that folks who blog about 8 year old boys playing travel lax need to get a freakin' life...
that's funny, and if you dont get the point you are a fool.

Bandits played in the 2023 group on Saturday. They played the 91 Warriors in the finals. Crush didn't play.

You know this is the 3rd grade forum? I mean, this is the place people are supposed to talk about 8 year old boys playing travel lacrosse. That is it's purpose. You're here trolling the forum so what does that make you exactly? Since you must not have a 3rd grader. Maybe you're a pedophile who likes to read about little boys? Creepy. Sorry for out-ing you. Don't get upset, just move on to another forum and bother them. Or you can blab some more and continue to look like an idiot. Your choice of course. I don't expect you'll go away, idiots rarely make good choices. I expect you'll prove that soon enough.
spoken like a true travel team director...ok, you win...I am the creepy troll...feel better?...I wish only good things for your 8 yr old son....I hope when he realizes that has father , who never touched a lax stick in his life, and who is the guy standing on sidelines yelling at the top of his lungs during the game, is a dbag, the creeps will have the last laugh...keep writing those travel checks for little Anthony as the coach tells him that he really has what it takes to play college ....tool
I still don't know what that guy talking about choo choos and airplanes is talking about. My son is 8, I don't think he used the word choo choo since he was 3. He has for 5 years been using the word TRAIN.If your son is using the word choo choo, and he is on a 3rd geade lacrosse team, I agree he should be doing more homework. Alot more homework.

If that Choo, choo story is even close to true, his kid probably needs to go for serious occupational/speech/physical therapy. Let's hope he is just a troll.
I think the point was that they are kids playing a game and could change direction at any moment. Choice of words was probably to show they are closer to babies then to grown ups. I thought it was a funny post and can see my very smart child sitting down to play monopoly, usually lasts 15 minutes before we are on to something else.
My son is a returning player on Orange and I would just like to say that you people are pathetic.
I stumbled upon this site while searching for an upcoming tournament schedule.
The new and returning players, parents And Coaches were amazing this weekend. We stood Next to our opponents cheering both teams on enjoying watching our boys play.
I am disgusted at some of the lies written on here. Get a life people. These kids are 8 and this supposed to be fun. My husband and I are damn proud that our son is playing Along side such an amazing group of boys.
How dare you critique the way 7 year olds played last season with such animosity?!
They. Were. 7.
And as for as your rant on the "Commack Dads" one is nicer then the next.
I pity your wife and children having to live with such a pompous [lacrosse].

Well my kid might do that when playing monopoly (IT'S BORING DAD!) but he can lax for most of the day with focus. That tells me he is ready, maybe it is not the norm, but we believe that knowing our son is part of being a parent.
It is clear that not all are ready but those that are should absolutely be able to play. Hey look, there is travel in every sport at this age. Lacrosse is not more nuts than the other sports.

His name is Tony. Tony the Tiger. Grrrr.

As a travel team director I would have picked up a "lax stick" at some point in my life, no? And as a director writing big checks would be unnecessary since my kid could play for free. But of course, I could write big checks if I wanted to since being a big time lax director is bank yo.

You sir, come to a battle of wits armed with a toothpick. Lets see you break out the big guns now. Go ahead, we can keep this going for pages. Lets make this thread useless together, holding hands the whole way. Then you can go bother the 2nd and 4th grade thread. I'm sure they could also use your special kind of intellect and wisdom, since you're so insightful and all.

Don't let them get to you. There is actually some useful information in here. And some nice discussions and complements. You just also get the occasional weirdo overcompensating for some personal inadequacy. You don't just find them in travel lax. The head coach of my kids PAL team had his own son in tears at a practice last spring. The crazies come with the territory of youth sports.

My kid has fun playing travel and thats all I care about. Club lax is for fun, learning how to compete on a team and learning to work hard to be the best you can be. I have a 529c for college.
You know what the problem is, everybody has an iphone. Back when we were kids, a stupid comment had to be a verbal conversation. Now today, people can post stupid comments in about 5 seconds. I just don't understand how some of these people , seem to really enjoy bashing on an 8 year old website regarding a sport. I just can't grasp it. Its 8 yr old kids playing a sport, having fun. Say it slow. 8 year old kids playing a sport. I agree with the previous post . My kid is having fun, that's all I care about.
again, you win..I have seen the error of my ways and now see the light...wishing you nothing but the best for you and the little guy.....I will now, as you say, move on to those who are really lunatics, those crazy 7 year old parents!
Where's 91 2025 Orange playing this weekend? Anyone know?
They want to stay as far away from the geese as possible
But I thought Super Joe was coaching that team? Oh I guess that makes sense how he said they would never lose a game. What a shame. But they are only in 3rd grade so maybe they are going to the Pokemon tournament.
Why would they want to go to the petting zoo and play with geese. I thought they play lacrosse.

I commend you and all of the other parents that display good sportsmanship and actually cheer on the opponents when they make a good play.

But for Team 91, you are the exception. The director is a winner, yes. That cannot be denied.

He is also a bonified look at me jack@ss who I would never allow my kids to be around.

This is why people have such strong negative feelings towards 91. And I know there are some great coaches and kids in the program.

But the director, and many of the parents in the program don't have a clue when it comes to coaching/playing, winning & losing with class.
100 percent agree with above poster, and is the opinion of more people then anyone realizes....

I wouldn't want my son anywhere else. It is just sour grapes.
Good, they don't care about u or your son. Don't think for a minute that other kids can't make or be on that team. No sour grapes there not even the best team in age bracket.

Like anything else in life, some people like somethings, some people don't. Its a matter of opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. What works for your son, might be different than someone else's son.
Ill say this after 2 months, my son loves it.
Does anyone know who are the Bulldogs??? Where they from??
I heard there goalie was a girl!! Kudos to her smile

See at this age it's about playing and getting coached that's it. The teams change because as kids get older parents realize kids have to play express or 91 Those two clubs dominate EVERY grade level. Teams like legacy or smaller clubs lose their better players little by little as parents want their children best positioned. Our son plays express but if he wasn't playing there it would be 91 especially having older kids and seeing the landscape.

Okay tough guy. That's the epitome of 91 attitude that needs to be removed, from all clubs/teams.

Coach/play/cheer...with class and respect for the game and the KIDS who put it all on the line.

Enough with the chest pounding BS.
Who knows?maybe js is bringing his crush/smash kid down to play with the 2025 orange team.that will keep up his promise that they will never lose

No chest pounding at all. Just be careful what you wish for. It all looked pretty close to me last year when the team was coached indifferently by two gentlemen who are no longer there. Now with higher intensity and commitment of the coaches and some added depth across the board along with more focus on playing as a team and I would expect to see better results both in the play of the game by the kids and in the results of the games.

It's ok if they keep score of the games, isn't it? See you in the spring.

Come on, you know that just isn't true, don't be such a huge tool. It's embarrassing. I bet even your dog knows what a tool you are.
Lmao...JS = TOOLBAG......
DELETED

I am watching you.
The actual statement was "these kids are going to improve so much that they'll never lose on age" that being said my boy has improved incredibly they are having fun and we have already practiced more this year more than we did all of last year what more can ANYONE ask for ! So yes the coaches are putting time in to the players and by spring the results will speak for themselves. Hate him or love him all his teams are incredibly successful kid, pro or college, it's easy to see why the Kids practice. Coming on here and mudslinging any team screams jealously and crazy. Your child is talented and playing 3rd grade lacrosse and would probably be embarrassed if they knew you were on here doing what you would get mad at them for. Enjoy this with you kid

FYI there is no 2025 bracket at Yale. It is 2024B/25 combined bracket. There is still a 2024A that 91 Orange is not entered in. I don't think this is puffy chest playing up. This is JS having 2 teams there already and bringing his 3rd for the experience. So let's not overblow this. It's fall ball and this is a new team for JS.
It's all about what works best for your kid critiquing other teams makes people think you are not content with your situation! Kids are practicing a ton improving a ton and are exposed to top notch coaching and most importantly every kid comes off smiling ! Yes coach explained competition will be tough and all three of his teams will be at Yale which is great! Go enjoy your experience and let's keep it classy

You are funny. Chest pounding has not even remotely started. But I'll wait and then do what I can to make you happy when it is appropriate.

Only time will tell, but even someone as dumb as you can see the winning results are coming.

In the meantime, try not to be so angry and jealous. Honestly it doesn't look good on you and we can all tell who you are from that sour angry puss that you wear like a red badge of courage.

More and more teams and parody which is a good thing. I'm sure this will be a good team but not a dominant one. They will get smacked around this weekend when playing the 2024s. (as they should at this pt). Express north will beat them by 10 goals easy. This team should be playing at Mustang or lehigh in a true 2025

Orange could not play in the mustang. They have to go where ever JS goes. That's how he is able to fool every parent in to thinking hes coaching their little boy or girl. I guess by the parents seeing him there makes them feel better about themselves. Best of luck and hopes that makes you sleep better in Yale. It's Coming

Your right it is coming, time for you to pay JS and make him rich.lolol

I get plenty of rest and have already paid in full. My boy and our family have received our money's worth. If Coach gets rich, good for him! Don't be bitter about someone else just because they are successful.

The funny thing, and sad at the same time, is that the 91 dooshbaggery that has been perfected years ago has fully indoctrinated another round of chest pounding 91 fools for parents. Collectively the greatest pack of classless individuals in the game of lacrosse. Sad to see.

Actually, thats the thing. We all paid for the Summer 2016 program. Coach doesn't get paid for fall or winter. So all the coaching he's been doing, it's on him. He's not making one cent from Team 91 or us for all the time he's been giving the team. That's why the jokes on the haters.
Hate to break it to you buddy but he most certainly does get paid for the fall. Goes to show how much you really know about this business. And the winter...that will be extra out of your pocket. Learn the business buddy, learn it.
I utterly enjoy the Legacy Crazies same as the 2024 board as well as 2020. This is the point Legacy Daddy realizes his boy is on a minor league club. Here's what I know JS TR and JG are putting a large amount of time into the kids and developing them By watching JS other teams as we practice side by side we are all in. Are we the best team right this second? Probably not if we stay at this pace then the kids will be fantastic while learning the game at a high level. Enjoy the ride with your kid trying to find fault in Us Practicing a ton or playing in certain tournaments is an indictment of your character. Fall is about skill development 91 orange last year was a train wreck this year it has been world class!! And while your attacking some 91 parents have a talk w your Daddy that wears Tank on his back lololol embarrassing

Have you seen Express North 2024 play? I have at the Blatant Fall Jam. They're a solid B team. Well rounded. Nice kids. Nice parents. Don't expect a blow out either way. It will be a good game.

agree for 2024. i also saw 91 orange at HH. They are a decent 3rd grade team. They are going to get crushed. Nowhere near ready to play with solid B 2024 teams. They lose by 10 goals at least

Newsflash it's Fall ball it isn't about a T shirt or medal it's about challenging the kids While other 2025 teams are playing some 2026 teams the kids will get challenged playing 2024 and 2025. It's FALL ball !!
Ok

Both groups have very good kids and it doesn't matter who wins. The boys like the rivalry but it doesn't consume them one second after they leave the field. Legacy does have a solid group of coaches also at this age and kids enjoy playing for them because it has never been about winning. The boys play much better without the pressure and have a lot more fun. Hopefully all the parents on both sides can all learn from that.

As for Express north 24 last year they played in the b division against the 2025 teams with atleast 3 kids from the regular 2023 team. Not sure you gain much by playing up this early in the year but good luck and hopefully you win it all.

Where is LI Empire ? Would have been nice to have another 25 team at mustang

see there's where you are wrong. JS has never had a team lose a game in 3rd grade and he only cares about the t-shirt. this is not one of those same elite teams.

you don't get better getting pounded by older kids which is what is going to happen with express.

On age you are correct his other teams have not lost. this teams he's had two months Funny how the Legacy daddy's think mustang classic is a big tournament ha. Embarrassing Gonna be cold Saturday hopefully Dads w kids name and number on their back have sweatshirts SMH Remember Fall ball!! And saying the only concern is winning is wrong, if that was 91 orange only goal they'd play mustang classic against younger teams like others.
No I'm not. Nothing is free with 91. You may think it is but in reality it's not.
Good luck this weekend to all the teams
[quote=Anonymous

Actually they do. They learn a) about hubris; there is always someone bigger/stronger/faster than you, train to be better than them even if you've never met them b) you can have the best individual skills in the world but if you don't work as a team, you'll lose.

I think it will be a good learning experience. Individually the 91 boys are probably a little better skill wise than Express North from what I've seen. That will challenge Express more than you think. As a team, Express is more polished which will set a good example for 91.

Time will tell.
on an individual basis - express north has about 10 kids that could play A on most teams aside from the pack- they are not a big team in terms of size, but they are quick, They have had some goalie issues express north does not pass the ball well, it is a team filled with individuals and when u play weaker teams , you are not forced to move the ball as a team- when they played 91 national- they were exposed as that team moved the ball very well. I dont know 91 orange from anything, but if they move the ball well, shoot when the opportunity presents itself , they will have a good shot at being competitive.
Not a championship format play four games go home Called fall ball
if the #1 seed in south bracket plays #1 seed in North bracket- wouldnt the winner of hat game be the champion?
Everyone needs to sit back and relax this is 3rd grade lacrosse , it all means nothing . If your kid is having fun on whatever team they are on then it is all good. A word of advice do not use this forum as a bashing tool it only breeds hate, just sit back and enjoy watching your 8 year old develop into a lacrosse player.
You are playing at Yale because your coaches are there with their other teams. Keep sipping the Orange Kool Aid.Also make sure your kid get his JS picture signed now because Womens Lax and MLL start up soon.

Any tournaments run at a college can not have "champions " due to NCAA rules So no T shirts
3rd grade lacrosse. Man. You guys bashing people over 3 rd grade lacrosse. Let me ask you a question. If kids and parents are happy with a team. Why does this bother you. How do other people enjoying a sports team affect your life. Don't be that miserable guy , trying to stir s**t. Word of advice , nobody likes a guy like that.
if 91 orange wins both brackets, they will still be the champion? who gives a [lacrosse] about t shirts
Just havin fun. Wish all teams good luck and good weather this weekend .
To be honest I don't think there's anything wrong with playing a mixed bracket in the fall 2024/25 To really be honest I would rather our legacy boys be doing that than playing against 2026 teams at mt sinai
I agree with previous post. I'd rather lose to an older, better team 7-4, then beat a younger team/beginner team, 11-0..

The exact reason why this is a waste for express north
Anyone know who the Bulldogs are?

We will see, won't we?
Go on 2024 thread, call express north coach and complain to them.

Express North 14 Orange 2
superstars should be a good game as well - i believe its all 2024 kids from Ridgefield - I hope its competitive all around for all teams
It is a mixed fall ball tournament with 2024 and 2025 Fall at the youth ages is about playing and getting experience. My older son always went to the Yale tournament and it is a great day with the boys on a college campus the ferry over in the morning. Really doubt express went in saying "lets play down" or 91 being a new team said "lets play up" but we are talking 3rd and 4th graders a debate this big is embarrasing about little kids. How is Legacy 2025 playing against younger 2026 teams acceptable? I know many of the parents on our team would rather be in the Yale tournament. Lets face it 91 should have a difficult time in those games but being challenged helps kids grow! Instead of playing 2nd graders

Even with the handful of fall bdays on orange most are a lot younger than express kids. Will make a big difference

It's a shame, 91 should plan their tournaments better. They should divide up the age groups with more thought. Can't blame the teams for their poor groupings.
Can't see how legacy 2025 playing 2026 teams works well

What do you mean? How would you like the teams to be divided up?
As for 91 playing up- better up then down. As long as the kids know they have some battles ahead of them- who cares what the score is. 91 has a lot of siblings on the other older teams that are there. I bet the families appreciate being able to go to one tourney as a family, rather than be split. The kids will be fine and they'll play and learn from the competition. Nothing wrong with that- is there? Always play up, not down!
Express North 2024 6 91 Orange 2025 4. So much for your 10 goal game.

How did 91 orange do against superstars
Express North 2024 6
91 Orange 2025 4
Superstars beat express by 3.
Superstars beat 91 by 1

Im really not sure of the score but it was a loss. It was a tough game. It wasn't by 10 goals or anything silly like that. They had one boy who was clocking in at about 5 ft tall and 120lbs who was just playing football with our kids. He would literally drive up the middle just leaving 3-4 bodies in his wake. Our kids couldn't stop that but they sure tried.

Express North played lacrosse much better. Superstars weren't as good but they just overpowered the smaller kids and 91 Orange wasn't crisp enough in their plays to compensate.

Quick question... Are you the neckless psycho with the green hat that screamed at every kid on the field except for your own or the guy in all black with the earmuffs that was WAY to into your kids lax team?? Pretty sure you had a semi in the first game. Settle down guys. Settle down.

Thanks goalie daddy
Last time we played express north 2024 they had the express 23 goalie . We are from the same town .Channy asked them to come down and didn't tell them it was a younger team.
Here's the thing last year. Express north didn't have a 2024 team. It was 2023 with 24's on it
Some real big talented kids

lol. largely 2024 with 4 or 5 2025s. also 3 or 4 top players missing for soccer. Still squashed 91 little guys easily.

The future for 91 isn't bright with this group. I guess they will upgrade like always. Isn't legacy the top for this age group anyway?

Squashed- 2 goal win? Buddy, you better redefine your expectations. Most older teams would be humbled that they only won by two goals to a team a year younger. While not a parent on either of these teams, I'd have to say good job to the little guys. I was actually really surprised to see the score and could not believe that a year older team did not pull away more than they did, especially the way people were posting that they were going to win by 10+ goals. I'd say this was a very close game, where both teams played hard and strong. One won and the other had a real great showing for a team a year younger. Give credit where credit is due and stop trashing teams to make yourself feel better.
Clearly the poster above is a Legacy dad. It was 4-4 late in the game as well. I give credit to the 91 team they played hard and moved the ball well for this age and gave our boys a great game! Parents were very nice as well great day up at Yale!
Btw. Express north had all their best guys. That is fact. Congrats. 91 played well!!!
The future isn't bright, do you hear what an idiot you sound like.8 yr old kids, get a life man. They lost to 9 yr olds by a goal, and 2 goals. Great evenly matched games. I'm happy to see them playing up. That's how you get better. Winning a t shirt, or blowing a team out 14 to 2, isn't what its about. I want my son to be challenged. Challenged in sports, academics, anything. That's what its about. Not the score in an 8 yr old lax game. Kids had a great day at yale. Good tournament.
Congrats to the little guys, they played hard. I was talking to a few 91 parents on sidleines, they seemed very nice. One guy was cracking us up with jokes. Our team won, but it wasnt easy. Very good showing for 3rd grade team.

Hate to burst your bubble but starting goalie and two starting attack man and 2 starting middies not there. Little guys aren't bad but the 2025s on our team just as good.
You are misinformed. Starting goalie for express north played the 2nd game. And starting attack was there. Your information is very wrong.
2 days ago, they were losing by 10, you were wrong. Now instead of saying you are wrong, you say they are missing players. Someone like yourself has no class. Were superstars also missing players. Its ok be wrong, people make mistakes. I know its hard for you to admit.
Express dad here. Our boys were all there and does it matter kids played hard both teams very good youth lacrosse This is def NOT an express dad saying we were missing players Dont take the bait Great job yesterday those kids are fighters

Nice try 91 daddy
Good job by all the boys will be a fun group to watch with both 91 teams , Legacy and Expressb
Lots of chatter for 3rd grade lax, and it's only fall ball...be nice if we just kept it positive.
Such a great day yesterday. Amazing competition and our 2025s played well against two older top notch teams. Great job to all the boys who played yesterday. Thank you for the competition. The refinement in skills of this 91 team in such a short period of time is pretty fun to watch. Can't wait to see them continue to progress.

I agree. I also would like to add that I think Express North did a great job. I was impressed with their settled offense and how well they moved the ball. I saw them at Blatant and whoa huge improvement in teamwork in a short period of time. Not saying Blatant was bad, just that they were much more polished at Yale. Kudos. Plus one of those boys has a killer shot. Saw him wind up and before I knew it I saw the net in the back of the cage billowing out from the impact. Nice shot young man.
im not sure what game you were watching, i was standing on the sidelines with 3 -4 express parents around me, and they were screaming their heads off "Pass the ball, Pass the ball" and I remember that goal by the midfielder , that kid never passed the whole game and apparently never does based on the commenst by the parents . I can tell you this Expree North- you are not going to win games with one guy ruinning the ball up the field with no passing

Interesting. Who won that game?

Also pretty clear this is an express parent. Get junior on the wall so maybe the boys will have confidence he can catch.
this is priceless- one express parent complimenting his child on a blog- that is sad - thats great- your son scored a nice goal against a 3rd grade team and then you have another parent saying he doesnt pass- you cant make that up, that sounds like good old fashion internal fighting
It was a great day at yale. Leave it at that. Kids competed, played well. Dont be a sh** stirrer.

"Pass the ball".......Translation....."Pass the ball to my kid"
Anyone remember the score on the 91 vs Superstars 2024? I know it was a 1 goal game but don't remember the score.

Very clever genius. Right after you're finished patting yourself on the back for that heck of a zinger please do tell us what you think would be an appropriate lacrosse question on a lacrosse forum. Stock tips? BBQ recipes? If you're offended by a question about the score of a game you probably need to stop reading and HOPEFULLY stop commenting.
At this age just enjoy watching ur kid play
Don't get to caught up in wins and loses
They have 6 yrs until they are even in high school
A large number of them will not even play hs lax
The time with your young ones goes fast

See but when their coach comes out and tells the parents that they will never lose a game in their age group it is all about winning for them. Sure, they are a good team but when the coach puts that much pressure on 8 year olds he is going to take some heat.
Even better when he posts on social media HIS team went 4-0 this weekend.
And he should take heat

It takes a high level of hubris to make a statement like
Is it safe to say he runs with a short bench and som kids do not see the field
Tender age they are at - youth coaching is about more than wins
You are molding young kids and teaching them lessons far reaching what happens on the field

Some will be all in and as pointed out above and drink the kool aid
And some will be gone after this season

I like that. Put in the effort and you get to play. Don't put in the effort and you don't get to play. Like it or not, thats life. It is a good life lesson. No participation trophies. Work hard and earn it, or don't and you can sit on the sideline and [lacrosse] about it with the other people who didn't. If my kid doesn't play, we both know why. We know it's not the coaches fault. No surprises. No drama. Either work harder or don't. As parents we do the same thing with academics as well as other activities. It's not about teaching them lacrosse. Lacrosse is a sport. It is about teaching them to work hard at whatever is important to them. I could give a [lacrosse] about any sport, lacrosse included, beyond their educational value as a learning tool for life's lessons; hard work, teamwork and working towards a goal.

Best response i've ever read on this site.
I can't believe people thought it would be different. He has a reputation of coaching some excellent teams. However, those teams are already comprised of the best kids on the grade level, so it makes coaching easy. He also has a reputation for playing 15 kids, with 10 of them getting the lion's share and 5 more never seeing more than a minute or two per game and 5 more after that riding the bench. It's funny how everyone loves to say that their kid plays on the top team, but won't tell you what position or how much. I guess it makes water cooler talk a little better for them. Also, did everyone really think he was going to put his full effort into this team? His daughter plays on this team and he's registered as a 2025 Yellow Jackets coach (girls team). The writing is on the wall. He put his name on as a coach so the whole grade level wouldn't leave after last season's debacle. I wish you all luck and hope it all works out for you, but just be careful what you wish for.

So far, its awesome baby! and the rest of the staff are not slouches!
There must be about 20, 3rd grade club teams on long island. It seems that 1 team is always the topic of conversation on this site. Why is that. People should focus their energy on their own kids team. Period. To be so fixated on another 3rd grade team, that your son isn't even on, is crazy.

It is about teaching them to work hard at whatever is important to them. I could give a [lacrosse] about any sport, lacrosse included, beyond their educational value as a learning tool for life's lessons; hard work, teamwork and working towards a goal.

I agree with the 2nd half of your post. I can never agree with kids not seeing the field. That's demoralizing and has no place on youth sports, my opinion. Kids should be rewarded for working hard and that reward must be paid by praise and a few extra minutes in a game. Those small rewards are the very life lesson that should be taught. If the hard work isn't rewarded than the life lesson learned is zero. Keep in mind... I am sure every kid thinks they working hard.

If you'd ever seen JS coach you would know this isn't the case. He works harder, all the time, than all of his players. He picks apart every detail. And if you don't pay attention to those details, yes, you're on the bench.

See above. He told the kids and the parents this on the first practice. It should be no surprise to anyone.

My child worked harder and learned more in one practice with JS than the entire summer before. So yeah, I could see sticking with him even with little or no playing time. Fortunately my kid isn't in that position - at least not now - but we would consider staying if the situation is reversed just for the practices.

I wish you all luck and hope it all works out for you, but just be careful what you wish for.

He put his name on it because his daughter is playing for the team. He's been at every practice. He's run every practice. And the kids practice a lot. Whatever his other commitments are, and sure they're sizable, he's doing the right thing by 2025 Orange. By my estimation of his character, I wouldn't expect anything less. If his daughter eventually transitions to girls, 2025 Orange still has 3 additional amazing varsity coaches. Sure, JS will be missed but all the coaches work hard and the tone will already be set. They are excellent coaches in their own right and my kid really likes working for them.

Lastly, lets spend less time worrying about how 2025 Orange is coached. You're where you want to be and hopefully you're happy. Seems like the 2025 Orange parents are happy. I know Im happy, and more importantly, my child is happy. So we can all agree on different strokes for different folks. But there is really no need to talk trash about JS. He's not your kids coach, and by the sound of things, you're probably happy about that. We're happy, you're happy - lets move on and all be happy.

Agreed. Lots of heavy breathing for 3rd grade lax.
My son plays for JS on 2025 Orange. I can't speak for anyone else, but my son is very happy. He has had other coaches in the past that he loved, but this time it is different. He loves and RESPECTS JS. He works harder in practice now more than ever. He listens intently in practice and works at home to improve his skills. My son recognizes that Coach JS is different. Call it talent, call it character or call it both. JS has been a dedicated coach and a great influence on my son in a short amount of time. We can only hope that he sticks with this team, but we'll take what we can get. I recognize the importance of a year. Thanks JS.
Who really cares?

"Loves and respects"??? He's 8. Sounds like daddy has a crush on coach. Creepy.

So,true, sure the kid likes playing for the team but at 8 those are not your priorities. I know that creepy dad say his son knows JS is different. Different then what? Different then the crackpot dad he has. Different then his PAL coach? Different then Han Solo? I mean really, everything you wrote is BS.

To you it's BS. How would you know exactly? Divine inspiration? Or maybe you're the creepy person peeking in on little kids?

My kid also thinks JS is the best coach and has seen enough coaches to know the differnce. Specifically wanted to try out for 91 because he was there - and to be fair, mainly because of the NY Lizards; we go to a lot of games. So far, very happy. Even knows what days practice is on and gets ready for practice without being told. If that isn't 8 year old "love" then maybe you don't know what that is?
Your all set then. Petro outlined what he looks for in each age and for 2025 he specifically said "kid knows what day practice is on"

The only man an 8 year old should love and respect is his father. You obviously don't spend enough time with him. Did he research the 91 coaching staff prior to deciding which team he was going to try out for? And how many coaches has he seen at 8 to be able to differentiate the bad from the almighty? Ease up dad. Sounds like you're doing serious damage to your kid.

Wonder if the kid will feel the same if he doesn't perform to JS expectations and gets kicked to curb. He does not play nice nor consider anyones feelings. Even 3rd grade lax is treated as a business.
JS himself wont even be around next season.
So why is it your concern if he is around next year. You should be concerned about your son and his coach. The obsession with this team is insane.
They're jealous. Pretty sad but fun to watch though. I think their dad's didn't love them enough.
Happy thanksgiving it a rest day
If your kid really loves the he sport he plays
He will aspire to his highest ability
Coaches will come and coaches will go
But his desire is what will push him
Your kids are in third grade for god sake. Go do some finger painting with them
We finger paint with the tears of the dad's our children beat.

So you're obviously the crazy dad of the attackman. You are, hands down, the most insane lacrosse parent I've ever seen. I feel so bad for your boy. Do you realize that he will likely never be able to achieve your lofty expectations? And when they lose, as they often do, you make him feel inadequate (something I'm sure you're familiar with). Please, for the love of God, let your kid be a kid. Ease up on the pressure.
Wrong my son don't play attack. Not even in practice. Nice try though. Why don't you enjoy the holiday week with your family instead of playing psychologist on botc.

Green hat guy? Pulled down right above the eyes? Yells at other people's kids to pass? My bad. Same applies to you, though.
what kind of green hat
Does anyone know of any teams playing in santa jam for 2025 division?
My guess, probably Town teams. Was that way for their Black Friday Bash. Town teams + Hubs Gladiators
add in some supporting cast from travel teams to boost the average town team and you will be correct.
Do travel kids not play town? Or is that beneath them.....

Just because you see a few travel helmets during a game, it doesn't mean the team is full of ringers. Kids that play for a travel club do live somewhere......
My 2025 son plays travel and town though he is far from a "ringer"

Or a forums troll casting dark necromantic magic trying to rez a dead topic from the grave.

Don't feed the trolls.
Just curious, did the 2025 Fighting Ducks team ever finish filling? I remember hearing that they were at around 12-13 after tryouts. Just wondering if we're going to see them this summer.

Yes. I believe they did. The coach just likes to reject kids at tryouts hoping that better kids will want to play down the line. They are being coached by the conductor of the 91 Orange trainwreck from last season. He did the same thing last year.
Interesting. Thanks for the info!

Just not true. last year he didn't pick the team, they were handed to him. The issue now will be if its expensive daddy ball or if the best are going to get the play time.

He 100% picked the team last year. Undeniably. And yes, daddy ball is what we'll see.

91 is no better though. JS is like the queen of England, just a figurehead. The daddy's are in control there too. If your middie kid is not on the first middie line, expect about 10 minutes of playing time a tournament. Just like bandits and crush. But people will still pay the extra $800 to say they're on 91s top team. Eventually they'll realize it's been a waste of time.

True. So maybe 2025 is not much like them.
They 2025 didn't win much last year!!

Here it comes......
Anyone know what tournaments their son is playing in this summer?
It's coming ...
What's coming? What are you talking about?
Tournament schedules
Any day now....
Outlaws 2025... Any perspective? Happy parents?
I believe the team is made up mostly of the coaches town team which should be CSH.

Has recruiting process filtered down to 3rd graders yet. Thinking of sending my 3rd grader's taped highlights to local College coaches??
So witty .Outlaws like other organizations look for coaches that can bring teams with them. Their new additions to the board this year all came with them.
I heard a story about a coach that is telling everyone that he played lax for Maryland when he never did. So sad.
he played in MD
for vs. in, BIG difference.
I just went on the University of MD website and they have this tab called more. If you click on that you will find a tab that says all time roster. Guess what name is not to be found on the roster.
What organization is the imposter with?
Everyone on the team now knows what the truth is.
Ask your wife!
Hmmm, was someone playing down again?

Coach where???
Who cares don't feed into the drama. Whoever it is has played lacrosse at a level above the the one your son is at and therefore has some ability to teach your 3rd grade son.
My son is just starting out this year. What is considered the top team on the grade level? Golden Geese?

Honestly that's not what the first thought should be. We all do it reflexively. Ask people about the coaches and ask how they think their kid is enjoying it how is he and the team developing. Find the best coaching, not the best team. Now often those two are the same, but not always. Travel is a huge investment and time and money and I am just outlining there is more to consider.

I'm not trying to be nasty....but if he is just starting, don't worry about the best teams. There are high quality clubs that have teams for 2025 age groups, but it is so hard to determine at this age the "top team". But at this age, coaching & skill development are critical.

You will probably be out of luck for club teams this year....you may be able to try and squeeze into PAL for you town. Let him become familiar playing in games at PAL, understand game situations, work on his skills and hopefully he'll be ready for tryouts in the fall.

Good luck to him

PAL is the way to go right now
Yes Pal is terrific way to start. Also some town leagues offer skills clinic's.

Appreciate the words. My guys has played PAL for a few seasons now. He's on a new travel club with a bunch of his buddies. Most of the parents are very realistic about their expectations for the summer. I was just curious about how good some of these teams are.

Many towns will also pull together a summer tournament team to offer kids a more competitive season over PAL. My son is playing this year for about $400.....as compared to some clubs looking for $1000 to $1500+ commitments for 8 year olds. If he enjoys it and can hold his own, will look at tryouts in the fall for a more competitive summer team

Many of these teams are getting their pick from all over Long Island, so pretty good! Probably the top 3 in no particular order for 2025 are Express, 91 and Legacy. 91 has 2 teams at this age group so depending on which your son's team plays, your milage may vary. Express and Legacy have one team each.
picture 10 of the best kid on your pal team playing together. The top teams are Geese , Team 91 and the 2nd 91 added some players in the beginning of the year If those kids didn't get moved up to the A team then they are going to be decent. Then there is a few "town" teams will take a travel tournament on a good weekend.

Would put Express in there too. The kids have been playing together for over a year now.

Would put Express in there too. The kids have been playing together for over a year now.

A whole year? Wow! Nonstop? 3 days a week, right?
They are 8 years old. OMG.

My town group had been together since kindergarten with clinics and games all season last spring. So what....

Ok Mrs. Coach. We got it. Just like 2024, great parents, great coaches. Bias, blah, blah.
91 orange has already lost more games than bandits and crush combined. better find those '06 birthdays soon.

Just wait till next tryout! The only kids that are still on the team will be coaches kids, face off kid and two attackmen.
Just looked it up. They played a grade up in 2024 come on people let's try and keep this thread unlike the other ones
What tournaments are Coming up that some 2025 teams are playing

Igloo is putting on the Penguin Classic on May 7th. Pretty sure the Geese and Express are playing...not sure who else. Plenty of 2025's will sign up for JDRF on June 4th. That is usually a good mix of town and travel.

They lost one game this weekend, by 4 goals, to the team who won the 2024 bracket. Thats not too bad. Not great, but not bad. Offense looks pretty solid. Defense needs work.

That is a really sad thought, and unfortunately it may turn out to be true. These kids are majority 8 years old. 6 months can make a huge difference for every kid on the field, whether playing for 91 or any other club.

My son does not play 91 (truth be told, he isn't a strong enough player yet), but I hope all kids will get a fair shake.

Advice for all, even if your son is behind others physically - have him study up on lacrosse IQ and where to be on the field. It will put him head and shoulders above the "average" players

They play up and got crushed at Shamrock...why on earth would they play up already?

Unfortunately, being on Orange carries with it lofty expectations. That expectation is that will 91 draw the best players to their top teams so they will play up and win. Look no further than the team a year older. Wolfpack has been playing up and winning since they were in 2nd grade. Bandits too (two years older). 91 does not like their A teams to lose and they will do what they need to to win. There will be sweeping changes if they don't win most of their summer tourneys. That's not a bad thing, either. This isn't PAL and you don't get to keep your spot just because your kid made the team in 2nd grade. The only ones that will likely be on that team by fifth grade are the coach's kids and the top middie and attackman. That's what travel lax is about. Constantly upgrading your team to compete with the best. Welcome to insanity.
Sachem team looked real good. 2025 Orange hid from them by playing up. Going to be a long year for those kids, most of which will get replaced at tryouts. Sorry dads, you got what you wished for.

Get used to them hiding. They will play up in weak 2024 B divisions all year. Everyone knows that playing up in B divisions will be easier than playing in 2025 A divisions.

Sachem beat Ducks by 4 goals. Not exactly a defining win. The Ducks, a first year team who had to scrape together players after tryouts to even field a team. Better to lose in a tougher bracket than to win in a bracket with no competition. But congrats on whooping the snot out of 2nd graders and 3rd grade B teams. You're kid did great! You're great too! Crack open the can of beer and celebrate! Everyone is great!

Hmmm, was that the snow in my eyes, or were there kids from Taz and Geese playing for "Sachem" that were not from the Town. I understand it was a travel tourney but stop being a phoney and stop being such a [lacrosse]. If you want your superstar son to play Orange so badly, grow a pair and ask the Coach to call 91 to ask for a game. I'm sure they will give you one.

See you at the game Mr. No balls.

Ummm... 91 dad. Those teams you played were not exactly considered tough teams. The Greenwich team that won it all was mostly 2025 and 7 2024's (and it was the organizations first LI win in any division ever), Hitmen are basically a Nassau town team and Empire is bottom of 2024. Your team was supposed to sweep that bracket.

Crushed is what would happen to the other teams if they played 2025, then you would complain that they were not playing up. If you watched, you would know that is a very good team. Like a lot of 91 teams, they look and are small, but from what I saw for the short time I watched, there are a lot of kids with pretty good stick skills.

Funny, do the Greenwich people know this? Maybe they don't know their own team but in speaking with them, and they're very very nice people btw, they said they were "all 4th grade except for a few hold backs."

I'm sure you're right of course and they don't actually know who's on their team.
Actually our Greenwich squad was a mix of 3rd grade (2) mostly 4th and a few 5th graders (3), YES the directors knew about it! It was a nice tournament, little cold but nice to be outdoors.
My son plays for Empire and while our team has improved dramatically. I watched the 91 team and it is a very good team. They were outsized but really moved the ball well. Where was the Legacy Goose? The 91 team would of walked through the 2025 division so kudos to them to play up with a new team.

And that Empire team plays the game the right way. They will be just fine.

As I said, nice people. Congrats on the win! Your boys played hard and earned it.

Sachem (with extras) Drizzle 2025. Shamrock Champions 2025/2026 Division. LMFAO!
You really are stupid. Whether it was sachem,Manhasset, Bayshore it was a travel division. Do all the kids from your travel team come from the same town? Doubt it.give credit to a team that put some good athletes together and had some fun.oh by the way.it didn't cost them $1500 to play this season either.

No Balls. Stop pretending its just Sachem when you pound your chest and then switch to calling it travel because it is convenient when you are caught in your Town Team lie. It is understood that its a travel tournament so you should have come up with a different name and then even had the balls to play up. Gutless no balls sissy! Go put on your kids shirt and count your teeth.

Actually, he has a point. He can call it whatever they want. That's what sachem does. They are a huge town but they still need to pull kids from all over to win. The problem is not that they do it in a travel tourney... It's that you know the same team is playing in PAL and in town tourneys. Sachem. They're all the same.

Zing! I'm not OP but you can sense the frustration/panic of this daddy crop. Frustrated bc this age group isn't following in the footsteps of bandits and pack. nervous bc they know change is likely. Reality is with so many more programs with 2nd grade teams now, 91 can't corner the market. Talent gets spread out which is a good thing. RELAX
It was just a game for the kids to have fun before the season
starts. They are only 8!! Everyone played great and had fun that's all that
matters.
They had to use The name Sachem because the best name was taken 91 Orange or should I say 2025 Blaze. Lmao Jokes keep playing up so you can hide from the truth. Whos got the balls c-mak. Town called they need their fire hydrant back.
Grow up people the season hasn't even started yet!!

And the Geese need their kids back. Cheap toothless loser. Your son will find out that you have no balls and be ashamed of you. That you were too gutless and cheap to have him challenged. He already knows deep down inside. Was wearing his shirt and thinking there was something missing. His hate for you is building just like in the past with your wife and the dog too.
OMG!! Are you kidding with these comments?
I can't believe the hatred for people. It's just a game, I don't know
who you are talking about but it is so disrespectful.
These are children and it's seriously needs to stop, bashing
Teams; Team 91, Gesse, and Sachem. Let these kids
have fun and enjoy the game.
Omg!! You sound ridiculous and you call yourself a grown up
a parent of one of these boys that played this weekend. It was a fun tournament for
a bunch of kids together to have fun. Yes. sachem was a mix of kids who cares
The kids played hard, had fun and won!! Enough already and get over it!! If you don't
Like your travel program move on!

Goodie two shoes go help your husband find his teeth
9 year old kids playing lacrosse, enjoying a day with friends. Only pathetic parents, who have nothing going on with their lives would write stuff like this. Grow up people.
Pretty sure it started with a *ahem* "Sachem" dad chest thumping about 91 hiding from them in a tougher bracket. I'd say he reaped what he sowed.

Nice way to talk about 3rd and 4th graders. My son plays on Empire 2024 and I gotta tell you Tom Rotanz is phenomenal with those kids. Team is pretty much the same as last year but they look much better already. Our boys are not gonna set the world on fire wins wise but they're getting a first rate youth lacrosse experience this season.

Why do you guys care so much about a team you never even faced? Why would a sachem parent even care about 91’s teams? The guy obvious put the team together for the kids to compete and have fun. I have read through the entire thread and I don’t recall seeing where a sachem coach or parent was beating their chest about wining anything nor the fact they are even claiming it’s a town team. End of the day it was a team of 8yrs boys playing together having fun, name of the team means nothing. It’s a travel tournament, the name of your team can be whatever you want. To me its sound like you’re not happy with the team your sons on, maybe you should start your own team and put the real fun back in the game. Just an outsider looking in.

Exactly!!
You must really hate the Sachem kids or jealous of the skill that a mixed of kids have.

Listen i don't know you, but if you think that post is a nasty exchange maybe you should read the other where you guys are bashing people you don't even know. To me that post doesn't even seem to be written by a sachem person. It just looks like a lot of jealously over certain teams. It happens some teams will always be better then others. If that bother you that bad, leave the team your on and join the other, they are always willing to take people's money. Or like I said earlier start your own team with your sons friend, it's a lot cheaper option. And it maybe a better experience.
I just looked it up. You are rite.

I hate their parents! The kids who sat behind the guest players all feel great too!
This all has to be coming from that c-mack dad. He's a little over the top. Guarantee he never played. Sure does name drop and talk a good game though, or should I say yell.
You have nothing better to do then rip apart Sachem! Enough already! If you have such an interest in them why don't you ask if your kid can be on there teams. In the end its kids sports and you people have a lot of growing up to do.
Wrong not him, I see your trying to stir the pot. AGAIN.

Everybody just hates chest thumping cheaters.
SAchem already ripped apart.. SYAG,SSC, BLAZE, can you just get along
Unbelievable these posts. "Sachem" bragging is ridiculous and they should not be stirring the pot. 8 year old lax! Also travel tournament, no cheating going on unless they were playing 10 and 11 year olds down. Commack dad - did your son get better last weekend by playing up? I assume so and it should be the only thing you care about for an 8 year old. Unfortunately everybody is insane.
No commack dad commented anything on this site. Stop stirring pot. Its getting old.
.
Uhhh, how do you know?
Are you from commack? If so, someone from commack just posted
Looks like a competitive bracket for syosett tourney..
Rvc and manhasset, very good teams.

Just curious - if a Sachem Lacrosse Mom and Dad get divorced - would they still be brother and sister?
Yes they would

Your lack of intellect is crystal clear.you have nothing intelligent to say so you must resort to nonsense. Commack dad get a life.

I hear JS and his 2025 YJ girls team dominated the 2024 division of the Stonybrook tourney. You 91 parents might want to put on your lipstick before you kiss him goodbye.

The bigger question might be...why did he abandon his own 91 brand who have girls teams at that age? Guess he must think 91 girls suck!

Valid point. It's very likely that 91 can't field a team at that age. YJ has the girls side locked up though, no doubt. It's the right play by him. Most of his SB team are YJ's. The writing is in the wall for that 91 team though. They won't see him till tryouts.
More [lacrosse] stirring. We see JS every week at practices. How he does it all I dont know but he gives the team His full focus at practice and tournaments. His daughter plays boys lax which is probably why she kills it with the girls. Same thing with the goalie. Can't see that changing any time soon. Maybe when they start putting on lipstick lol. Don't hold your breath, they don't seem like the lipstick types.

You don't even believe what you just wrote. But it's ok, no one else does either.
Do not take the bait. Coach hasn't missed a practice. Sounds like sachems dads getting worried as they should. Lol

So you're saying that dads with kids on Sachem's town team should be worried that the top 91 might be able to beat them this year? That's the angle you're going with? If I were JS and my team couldn't beat town teams I might head for the hills too.
Commack dads...yes all 3 of you. Why on earth do you give a s- what people say or think if JS is actually coaching your sons? Enjoy getting top notch coaching for your boy and stop the insanity.
Going forward, coaching is more than making your kid practice btb 3 hours a day, and then positioning them in the crease the entire game. This won't fly in HS, will be laid out!
This is 91's top team on the grade level so either the team wins or there will be changes. With that being said, my son's team played them at Shamrock and I think that they will win a lot more than they lose this year and anyone that thinks differently is nuts. Granted, they will still swap out the bottom 3rd of the team every year for the next few years until they find the right mix of players, but they will always be a good team. What I would be concerned about if I were a parent on the team is playing time. The 2024-2020 A teams have a history of riding their best player and letting the rest watch. Is that what you think is best for the development of your son (and/or daughter, in this case)? That's the call the parents have to make. It's awesome to tell people that your kid plays for 91 Orange, but is it really worth it if he rides the bench or is the number 5-8 middie?

Will be laid out- What a dumbthing to write. yea because there is so much hitting now in lacrosse. your post really has no bearing on the conversation either. Your def one of the dads thta just yell"hit him"!! the entire game. Skills will almost always prevail.
Get a grip
Not sure how to present a topic of conversation that has been discussed so many times on so many levels but call it an epiphany I finally see the light that is PAL lacrosse and how much of a joke they make of it.
Preach all you want about coaches volunteering time, blah blah blah. I know nothing about the game but I will volunteer if it means my son will play over 80% of the time at a position he is not comfortable with at this stage of his ability.
PAL rule, no child in first or second grade will be allowed to play up, false, if you are a coaches son.
Negativity surrounds the bench, parents always putting the good players down.
Don't tell me it's about the kids when it is clear as day that you have blinders on because you can't coach a practice while looking at your phone for most of it.
Lead by example or move over for someone that will.
Put your ego on hold and do the "right thing" for the kids.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS. NOT KID!!!!

Don't know what Town you are in, but I am plenty happy (and more importantly my kid is happy) with our PAL. And honestly all of the kids are learning positions, so why would the be comfortable? Sounds like you need to focus on working with your kid. No disrespect intended, but if you spend 15 minutes over two or three days going over what he is uncomfortable with, it would go a long way.

If you are playing in NCPAL all you have to do is contact the President Mike Nelson mikenelson1021@gmail.com and report the coach and it will be stopped. It is a safety issue absolutely no 2nd grader boys or girls is allowed to play up in the 3rd grade division.

The above is spot on. You have been up front and said you don't know the game, which is fine. There are still ways that you can work with your son. After his next practice, approach his coach and ask for a couple of simple drills that you can do at home. There are tons that he can do in his own, or with your help. If you can't catch and throw, grab a baseball glove and throw with your arm and have your son use his stick.

For 3rd grade, don't get caught up with who coach keeps where. These are 8 year old kids....some are more advanced, physically and within the game. Puberty will hit in a few years and change everything. Work on skills right now and it will pay off.
Catch, cradle and throw both right and left
Get him used to getting low for grounders
Understanding positioning and where to be and when
Etc

Skill work now will translate to stronger play in 5th/6th grade and beyond. Coach won't be able to take your boy off the field.

Good luck to him

You must play for Sayville, right?
Sounds like a great idea however somehow I don't think that will work!
Sayville has that issue too?
That's great advice but I think the point is that there is a player in 2 nd grade playing up on a 3 rd grade team which according to Nassau county PAL rules is not allowed. He happens to be a coach's son. He plays 80% even though his ability does not warrant such play time and he shouldn't be there anyway since he's not a 3 rd grader. So if that parent volunteers does it mean his 3rd grader will now get a lot of play time. The rules also state equal play time. Unless there is only 12-13 kids on a team 80% is too much.

You can't just come on here and expect something to be done about it. Reach out to NCPAL or call your director of boys in your town and repair it. The coach will probably be suspended if it is his son and he is clearly breaking a major rule in the second grade division.

Maybe this is one of the rare instances when a child was held back academically but plays lax on age level? Kudos to him if that's the case.

He wasn't successful with the orange team or the ducks or his sayville team.maybe time to look for a better coach

He's obnoxious. There's a big difference between coaching varsity and coaching 8 year olds. He's terrible with the young kids. Terrible.

He's not that much better with varsity kids either!! He has been lucky to get a lot of good players come thru his high school. Stud players help coaching all the time.

I've heard that from a few Varsity parents.
For that Sayville coach, it's all about his son...the whole team is there to serve his son. Easy to figure out which player it is because the coach calls out his name every other word.

He's completely self-serving. 'Quot will have him gone by next season. The wheels are already in motion. This guy has no business coaching kids of any age, youth or varsity.

None of your players like you at any level. Well done. Way to be a role model.

Manhassett is a great club. For a town team to take down 91 Orange twice is impressive.

Or Orange/Blast just isn't any good. They're like 1 for 10 in tournament wins. Not exactly how the boys in orange like their top teams.

Maybe they should be able to beat town teams before they think about playing up!

Guess we'll find out on Saturday. Blast is playing Geese, Eels, Ducks and Mamas Boyz. Pretty easy schedule. If they don't win that tourney you can expect them to start recruiting/stealing kids from other teams the rest of the summer.
Eels!

The Eels are Legacy's 2026 team. Don't know how they are even playing in the 3rd grade A, when there is a B division?
Eels parent here... I was wondering the same thing. Thinking the brackets are not final. The Nine dee won 2026 team was supposed to play in this tourney also. Thinking things will change before the weekend...
Schedule will change. Always does.

So now that Eels are out of it, I guess Blast/Orange will go 0-3 instead of 0-4?? Are there any town teams they can lose to? Mamas Boys are pretty much a town team and I bet they beat Blast.
Whoever posted that could be the biggest loser of all time. Third grade lax dad!!!

True, but still kind of funny considering last weekend's results! I'm sure Blast will be in the finals, but just not a favorite to win.
Where is Igloo this weekend?

Wait, do you mean that if we don't have our kids playing in a tournament every weekend they still have a chance to be quality players? No way! JS said our kids have to play in 11 tourneys (even though he won't actually be there for any of them) and if they don't they'll never amount to anything! Have I been lied to?

Looking for some insight/advice on picking a travel team in eastern/central Suffolk for a goalie. Any info on Team LI, Empire or any others?
Thanks.
Thanks. Anyone have any insight on TLI? Never hear much about them.
Someone posted info about a bunch of terrible teams in the area you're looking at, but thankfully the moderators deleted them. I Know that BOTC looks out for us. Outlaws are a very good team. Best of luck with your son.

Teams are always in need of a goalie, so anywhere you go they will welcome him.

they have the best 4th grade goalie on the island so must be doing something right with that position. No, I am not the dad nor do i have a son in the program.

The two fire hydrant dads are losing it!
Electric Eels... love it!
Blast 6, Golden Geese 4
Blast 10 (maybe more) Mama's boyz 0
No unruly parents. Nice players and fans all around. That may sound a little boring to some of you, but it was a nice day.
91 Blast 2025 beat the Geese at laxfest today 6-4
Id love to be your bookie.
So after today, Garden City is officially the top team on the Island! Keep at it GC! Great things to come!

That seems like it will be the real matchup for the class of this division. It's crazy that they're both town teams!

Our boys beat Blast 2x last weekend. Clearly we were the better team. Blast beat Geese 2x. That would put GC over Blast and Geese. Pretty simple.

Manhasset, not GC beat Blast last weekend at Forsberg. Might want to check your facts before pumping up your town that didn't even play Blast
3rd grade lolololl
#loserDADS Talk about the teams but the "my team is better than your sons is beyond pathetic Just enjoy the years
Neither Geese or Blast parents are in here rolling in the mud with the pigs. Good to see the top teams conducting themselves with class.
I overheard someone this weekend saying that Mike Chanenchuk will be coaching the Express 2025 team next year. Can anyone confirm that to be true or not?

Sure he is. Like schwajle is coaching 2024. Ask them how that's going.
Oreilly does an awesome job with the kids. He had kept same group of kids and made them very competitive. They are a few pieces away from being up with the top Of the group. He is a very good instructor.

It's true...same deal as Schwajie. Sounds like they got some of the 32 kids to commit and some O'Reilly kids will move over. Sound familiar?

Buyer beware with Channy actually coaching your 2025. His name will look good on the tryout flyer though.

Channy has to do something because right now they are not very good and that team with the current coach will not attract the talent to win. That means less buzz and 1 team instead of 2 in the age group and less tryout $ and less tuition. It's a business decision, nothing personal.
I've seen them play a few times and they're not bad at all. Like most teams in this age group, they just need to trim the fat to be competitive. And like most teams, the club has taken more than they should because that fat is profit.
can anyone give an honest opinion of where all of the 2025 teams stand as far as talent level goes. There are so many teams out there now it's hard to know which teams are talented & which teams look good because they play weak competition.

Yes, I will.

Geese, 32 and Blast are very good

Express, Ducks and Igloo are good and compete very well.

2nd tier but but always about the coach and how much time they invest

Even that is too much. Think about the #s for a second where each kid can get adequate playing time....not equal time.

5 Attack
8 Mids (3 complete lines is too much)
5-6 Def
Very rare for a team of this age to have 2 competent goalies, if so great.

Get on a team with more than 20, be prepared for some to ride the bench nearly the whole game.
So those teams would be able to compete with teams like geese, crush, express & igloo ?
Trying to stop the exodus . Oreilly does a great job. They were telling people last year that They were going to make another Honey Badgers team for 2025

If you want equal and fair playing time for kid, fundamental development, and just an all fun experience, then Orielly is your guy. I'll say this from a having experienced it first hand and that just ended yesterday with a fitting end to the season for the team.

Seriously? They stink!

And everyone plays!!! Everyone plays to win, but if it means winning at all cost and having short bench, no thanks. It's should be fun. Just my opinion.

Here's the thing- if you know the coach, you know he plays first to develop the kids and that winning eventually comes along with development. He has a proven record over many years of starting kids off right and teaching them skill and the love of the game. He has many kids that he helped develop in their earlier years that are on D1 teams, as well as a few that are committed and also some that play for the top 2020 teams. He is not for everyone, but if you are looking for a coach that does it right at this age, he is a good choice.

This is all well and fine, but the results are not satisfactory to the folks back at the home office. They need to win to fill the pockets of MC. That is why the office is floating the name of MC as the new coach.

As a father of a 2022, 2023 and 2025, let me tell you my observations. When my older boys were young, the boys in Orange had the most dominant teams, by a lot. They were the only really good team. As each year went past, things changed. Last weekend, my 2022 guys top orange team lost and the Orange B team won the A bracket. Both teams play second fiddle to express. This was inconceivable a few years ago. Smash was the best and no one else compared. Now they are in the mix with 4 teams. When my 2023 guy started, Bandits were the only good team. They're still the best, but they lost this season and are winning 1 goal games. There are now probably 5 really great teams in 2023. Again, 2 years ago no one would have believed it. Even the 2024 teams; Wolfpack used to be untouchable even last year. This year they've lost far more tourneys than they have won. Right now in our age group, Blast is the best. But, with the dynamic on that team with coaches and kids, that's going to change as more kids start playing travel in the next two years. So my advice is not to chase the top team. Find a coach who your son responds positively to and let the team be built over the next few seasons. If your son is a midfielder and is not top 4 in playing time or a second string attackman, he'll likely be replaced soon anyway. That's just the way it works.

That's great advice. And parents this isn't a don't play A message. It's more know what you want for your kid. Every kid and coach is different and finding that match is most important, right now...
looking for advice on tryouts for next summer. My 2025 has been playing since K and I would classify him as an average player (not a superstar, but knows all the fundamentals and where to be....Good stick skills righty, needs improvement lefty). Got a taste of competition with town tourneys this year but for next season, he wants to play travel ball also.

He is not good enough right now to make a top club - I'm looking for an option that would give him some better coaching, let him continue play and improve.

Selfishly, I'm not looking to trek halfway across LI for practice. We are in southeast nassau

Starting to see tryout info for 24, bluefish, true blue that would be good options from a location standpoint. Any opinions on these or other clubs to consider? I also don't want to pay tryout fees if there is no realistic shot a club will have a team at this age group

Thanks
I agree. OReilly is a great coach. Win or lose the Kids play a great game and always have fun. It is too bad there will be 2 teams next season.

Bluefish and 24 didn't have teams at this age this year sp buyer beware. True Blue is decent but did just get destroyed 10-2 by Express O'Reilly on Sat after beating them a few hours before. Sound like wither program would be good for your son.

Channy needs a new boat
Express brought up a couple of kids so they could win

Is OReally getting desperate because Channy is taking away his team? He isn't the type to cheat, is he? But it is more fun to win. But going from a 6-2 loss to a 10-2 win in one day sounds funny. Maybe the pressure is getting to him. That is too bad.
It is a shame that he will be losing his team.
That's the furthest thing from the truth.
Not 1 boy played down. The whole team was the same team all season.

Ever think that maybe a TB coach or parent said that without justification or proof for the same exact reason you are trashing O'reilly?!!!! (Meaning you were desperate for the hat). Not being able to handle the outcome is the sad part .
I find it funny that TB parents can't understand that 2 games can have 2 totally different outcomes. Especially for ANY 2025 teams.

(I have 2 sons, one plays for Express, one plays for TB. )

If your a big enough lunatic that I think you might be, just compare the team pictures on Express website when they put them up and see if there are the same boys in both pictures.

I only say this because I know I will be right.

Sleep well you pequa nut job.

100% false!!! If winning was the priority he wouldn't sub. The top 10 or 12 kids on the team are as good as any. He could win every faceoff if he wanted, but he wants the kids have fun first. But say what you want, just try to be accurate.

You are entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. The first game was 3-2. It's easy to check but easier to make stuff up.

He takes the face offs? He can win but doesn't want to? Hmmmm

I also have kids in both programs and have met great people (kids and parents) at both programs. No need to disparage someone or some town like that. Most of the negative comments on this site come from people without kids on the particular teams being written about or from one person and not the whole program/team. People just want to stir the pot. Let it go.

It was 4-3 lose and no kids were added...the 2024 kids, every one of them were all at the Maverick truck getting their own championship hats during the 2025 champ game. Hate all you want but the 2025 team won fair and square.
Complete BS. OReilly did not bring up any kids. Same team all year. Everyone plays. Fact is Oreilly team gets better as the day goes on. The boys have improved so much and now play really well with each other. Wish Channy would leave things alone. This 2025 team is a force to be reckoned with and it all started with a week long clinic.

It's a bunch of hype and hyperbole. O'Reilly is not only a solid coach, he's a true gentleman. He's done a tremendous job coaching a talented group of young boys. He coaches to give kids confidence, and discipline. Imagine that?!
And the result is a winning team at the end of the season. I'd say the man deserves some measure of applause. To his assistant coaches as well.
They got rolled as a team in the fall and early spring, but never let go of the team first attitude.
As far as Channy taking over this team, I'll believe it when I see it. He's got his hands full with the upper grades.
But even if that did happen, O'Reilly and his staff can stand tall. They have done a tremendous job. Ufsc9x

Force to be reckoned with? Really? You aren't joking? Please stay out of the sun,
You must be delirious.

I think it was meant as light hearted, but this age group will be very strong for the Express.
I have never heard "Oreilly" & "true gentleman" used in the same sentence before.

I think the point is that O'Reilly rotates his lines fair and square including at the X even though he has a middie that consistently dominates at face-off. Don't intentionally make more of it.
I hear Legacy is putting out a Legacy West Program at the 2027 age group up to 2022... Any truth to this?? They have some good teams at younger levels..

Try to ask what coaches they have for your son's particular age group for that club (although that is rarely determined at tryouts) and then ask around about those guys and compare what you are hearing from reliable resources that know the game (not necessarily parents because most don't know much about lacrosse).

Then compare the best of what you hear to what your current town is offering in terms of coaches and arrive at a decision.
Please stop Mrs. O'Reilly, please, we are begging you.

Just spoke to 2 parents who are leaving the geese to go to orange. Really good middies. Let the floodgates open!

Interesting. I guess that's how it goes. Probably see about 6 new kids on blast next year.

The 2 Middies your talking about never made blast this year. They were told they could play on ICE and they refused. What makes you think JS will want them back this year?

Neither have ever even tried out for anyone but legacy. Nice try though. I'm guessing your kid is the one losing his spot?

Not quite, would just hate to see kids go some where they may not play. All kids just want to play, they could care less about the drama.
Makes no sense. Geese lost 3 games all year. Thats a good year. Blast lost to Manhasset 32 twice. Should Blast players be looking to switch to Manhasset 32? If I was the Geese coach I'd be looking to see who tried out for Blast so I'd know who to get rid of. No sense putting time into a kid who's going to leave you. Best middies? Who cares, they're 8 and 9 years old. I'd be more impressed if they can put on their cleats without help.

Plus, if you look at the number of players on Crush or Bandits, you'll see that there will be fat trimmed from Blast. Probably a lot of trimming. That's not going to leave a whole lot of room for turnover. Good news - the practice pinnie and shorts from tryouts are yours to keep regardless. Best of luck.

It's been great, I'll see you all watching the kids at lax clash and then tryouts.

There two ways to look at it. Every team wants to win and some do it with the full team and shorten the bench at crunch, which I think is fine. And some approach it to win at all cost and kids don't play. That bothers me, but the coaches are transparent about it, so you can't knock them. Point is, learn what you can before you choose a team and find the best situation.
Heard the 32 coach is leaving and those kids are trying out for Express. Guessing that is how Express would get the numbers for an A and B team.

Correct but coach and two best players moving out of state. Rest will be at express. Likely top team next year.

That's a fact. Channy will be coaching it as well.
It is physically impossible for mc to coach another team.he is just putting his name there so the Manhasset specials will stay. They need to do something. The two coaches for that team were mediocre at best.they had alot of talent on that team but no guidance. Hope some of those parents are smart enough not to fall into the express pyramid scheme

Most non Manhasset parents will stay with O'Reilly. The team progressed nicely as the year went on and the boys actually won their last two tourneys. I feel bad for anyone that gets duped into playing for the so called Channy team. Manhasset should just stay 32, express should just just focus on one team and Channy should just go away and focus on the older grades.

Lol. People will say anything and get overly concerned that an elite team is being formed that could be better than their sons team. Just makes tourneys better.

They won two tourneys? Who did that team beat? No one to brag about. Not good enough for express to sell and fill two teams. As they say, Cha Ching!

Thanks for belittling the accomplishments of 9 year olds. Can we praise them, build them up, and make sure they are having fun. If you are a parent that spends the car ride home focusing on negatives and things your child or the team could have done better... then you should really, really take a step back and view from a kids mind.

What is wrong with you, is stating a fact belittling? They need to be at the top to satisfy Channy. They aren't. They are not getting to the top by losing to igloo and getting beat badly by the geese.

Lost 10-8 to Geese last time they played and tied igloo twice last two times they played. Just a Fact!
Just a fact.the geese emptied their bench against express . could have been alot worse.thank the geese for not running it up
I bet you believe in unicorns too. Tell little johnny he is the best and keep on misleading him through life
Man you people are crazy. Can't you just enjoy the fact that your children like playing the sport. Lacrosse used to be the one sport where psycho parents were in the minority now it seems like most of the lax parents are crazy. Your talking about 9 yr old boys please... The idea of youth sports is to teach your child life lessons, like how to be part of a team& work with others, as well as being able to listen to instructions and follow them. If you think wins and losses matter @ 9 yrs old I feel for you.

This whole thing started with the concept that Channy needs the team to be better so they can add a second team. Cut the high and mighty junk. Express can't hang and their performance will not be good enough to generate the $$$.

you are reaching Joe jackass...next year it's Exoress over geese and you can go back in your hole. Remember, the Geese were the best last year now they can't beat the blast this year. Go to bed Johnny!!!
You must be a channy minion.keep believing his lies and emptying your wallet into the money pit.

You do realize that Express already runs out 2 teams in this age bracket.. LIE will run out 7 teams if there is enough at tryouts. They'll just focus on 1
Emptied their bench? If you are playing on a 3rd grade team and don't empty your bench then something is wrong. In 3rd grade they should be developing otherwise your child will suffer later. This is 3rd grade!

Or something crazy could happen and we could have a 3rd or maybe 4th competitive team in this bracket instead of just Geese and Blast. That would be wonderful. I like that some of these teams are good competition. My kids team gets better for it every time they play them. They learn from it and it motivates them to do better.

The idea of youth sports is to teach your child life lessons, like how to be part of a team& work with others, as well as being able to listen to instructions and follow them. If you think wins and losses matter @ 9 yrs old I feel for you.

Maybe 2 next year if Channy is serious about coaching a team. I will believe it when I see it though. O'Reilly is confirmed to come back.

It's done. They sent an email about pre tryout workouts. And the email was from Channy saying he is coaching. Don't know what else you need to convince you. His contact info is on the website.
John Lynott is the other coach. Channy lending his name to compete against Spallina and success of Geese. Riley is still the best of the coaches.

He is coaching the team. Why is that so hard to believe.
Word is a couple TAZ boys playing own age with geese this year
Yes. Very solid players, too. Will dominate on that team.

Good. Then Geese won't need the kids who try to go to Blast. Good team shouldn't suffer for a couple of t-shirt chasing parents.
Expect some really high quality kids to come out of nowhere at tryouts this year. 4th grade is traditionally when most kids start playing travel. There will be 4-5 very good teams next season. The teams who plan on just taking 1 or 2 kids will surely have their eyes opened at tryouts. Don't be surprised if you see 5-6 new kids on most teams.
Any other teams have pre-tryout evaluations??? They called it something else, but I think it's pretty shady that they want to see which kids they want to keep and which ones they want to get rid of the week before tryouts. Is this a common practice??

Fairly common.
How many teams does express have in 2025? What about Igloo?

Never heard of it as a formal thing, but if you want to make sure the kid gets a look, I would guess it's good for you. But only if the kid is good. Something like this will show strengths AND weaknesses!

It seems shady though, who is doing that?

I think those two are expected to be the most improved. With more kids trying out, less will bother with the top 2 (not including the Manhassett team that beat Blast, obviously they're the top club in the age group but a town team so I won't include them). That will make teams like Igloo and Express stronger.

Teams want to be sure about who they want to keep. Tryouts are a mystery. Most top teams will take anyone that makes the team better. Those practices are the last chance for kids to show they're worth keeping. Starters aside, everyone else is replaceable until about 6th or 7th grade. By then, teams are pretty set and everyone knows everyone else.
All this chasing to be on the best team and the clubs recruiting and planning to be the best is silly. The top teams will be the top teams, why? Because the best kids aren't going to worse team. Mergers and player movement means nothing, you only play 10 and teams will shorten the bench in big games and make it up in blowouts. So... if your son is not a starter encourage him to keep a positivd attitude and work hard and move up the depth chart and/or do some research and look for options. You all should be focused the best spot/club to get your son prepared for the next level. You want to settle in on a team this season and stay with that coach and team for the next several years as kids get ready for next level. Point is, get on the best team you can coupled with being a solid contributor during big games.

This my humble pre tryout advice.

Ps make sure you have a coach that is dedicated.
With all these tryouts starting this week... does anybody remember when this was mid September and August was when lax took a vacation.

Amen. Would rather it be July while the kids are still in the lax mode. Get it done and enjoy August.
