The 2024 is all that is left. 2023 season is done, 2025 and 2026 boys all left for other clubs.

I don't know how you run a club with only one team...maybe the coaches will take the boys to another program.

No tryout info on web site - which has not been updated since 2020 tryouts.

Stick a fork in it.

Steveo Really ran the program into the ground. I can’t believe parents are sending their kids to Loyola knowing he’s the coach.

Wrong. Defense wasn't their issue even after the 3 defenders left (The one who stayed - 73 - is better than 2 of the 3 who left anyway). The problem was lack of offense. Also had a ton of injuries down the stretch this season. And to whomever is advising people to leave Looneys before it folds, its too late. There is no 2026 team anymore. The coach is now at FCA and the players have scattered to other teams.

Original post was a troll post obviously and answered of course by someone who knows looneys intimately. As you can see by the response and breakdown there is a reason the team folded. Zero concept of talent.

I believe the Looneys lone LP and a few middies/ attack tried out for Crabs; did any one of them get a roster spot?

That would be a BIG NO!!

False. They all got a spot and joined Crabs.

This Spring, the future of the Looney's 2026 team began to look uncertain. A number of things led the parents to worry about the team and the club - no new uniforms, no off-season training, no position training, an AWOL director who didn't communicate with the teams/players/families, a loss of key players and a resulting decline in the performance of the team (lost players = lost games), coaches missing practices and games, etc..

In May, in an attempt to allow the boys to keep playing together, a Looney's team parent reached out to the Predators club directors to ask if the team could move over intact. The Preds directors did not approach the Looney's team, and they didn't really "negotiate" anything.

Preds held an info session for the Looney's 2026 families in June and offered to accept the team into their club. It was a kind and considerate offer, but several boys had already been looking/guest playing elsewhere, so the team began to disperse to other clubs. Although the director was made aware of the parents' concerns, nothing was done. Some of the families are now scrambling to find a roster spot for their son, unfortunately in a year with multiple other teams folding or in turmoil.

Yes, some of the boys (and parents) were concerned about moving from a formerly Elite HoCo team to a newer club that played at a lower level in HoCo. Others believe the Preds will improve and will likely join the club.

If there is anything to be learned, it is that poor leadership can doom a solid team with good players. The Looney's 2026 team went from winning the NXT Platinum Cup and HoCo Elite in the Fall of 2020 to disbanding a short 20 months later.

It is a shame, and a failure of what was supposed to be adult leadership by paid professionals. The boys deserved better.

Best breakdown after an absolutely disastrous season. Why any of these kids would go to FCA and follow the leadership is beyond me.

They go to FCA because they can’t make any other team.

Tell us you are clueless as to the current state of Baltimore area youth lacrosse without saying it outright...

Two local 2026 teams folded, and another is in turmoil. A larger than normal number of boys are looking for a club this tryout season. Over 70 boys were at FCA tryouts this week, and 76 boys were at Preds tryouts. Likely mostly the same group - lots of former Looney's and Hardshells players who were left out in the cold by adults who were derelict in their responsibility to these boys. They are all looking for a new club.

All existing clubs have full/nearly full rosters, so where do these boys go? "Can't make any other team." Right.

There are scores of boys who need a roster spot, and maybe 3-5 open spots on existing teams. This is what I mean by the "show us you are clueless" statement above. Where would you suggest they all go, Einstein? Crabs? 91?

FCA and Preds have decided to field two teams at this age group. That ought to serve about 40 of those boys looking for a new home. Some other kids will get picked up by the clubs who need to fill a spot or two. Hopefully they all will find a team.

It is easy to come on this site and dump on kids. These pages are full of Richards who put kids down, sometimes with info that identifies exactly who they are. It is shameful.

Here's a suggestion: Go help some of these kids find a new club. It is hard to stand out at a tryout with 70 kids running around.

If you know some of them, call a club director or coach and put in a good word. I did.

Maybe spend your time helping kids and grow our game instead of bashing boys who are just trying to find a team, you Richard.

All of this. Thank you to those who are actually trying to help. This is already a challenging time for these boys as they transition to high school, leaving a club that has perhaps been their 'home' for several years, leaving club friends and families made over the years, and the uncertainly of not knowing where they may land. Its all a lot for them. Appreciate this perspective.

Bashing, blaming, lying, and politics are typical qualities of the lacrosse community. Don’t act surprised. That is why lacrosse players are characterized as BadPerson! Look around, do you not see it? Have fun!!

The Looney's club director is the Director of Admissions at LB, who is (was?) also a varsity assistant coach. The Head coach of the Looney's 2026 team was also an assistant coach at LB. The assistant coaches were dads.

Right. Because Hawks has 20+ slots open.

Zip it troll. You have no idea what you’re talking about. My son was on the team and he’s not a holdback. His birthday is in November. There are four other kids on the team with birthdays in November and December. They are on age. Quit acting you know anything.

Can’t blame it on the coach if your kid isn’t coachable. But continue being the Karen parents that you are. Building quite the reputation blaming every team …only hurts your kid and his opportunities
