Mercy’s athletic director just announced on their website they’re moving up to the A conference, so it would appear this was not “fake news”

I just heard from a very reliable IAAM source. Mercy is not moving up. Stop the story planting. Everyone, stop replying to the wacko that is instigating the discussion. Not happening. Our A conference has been saved. Misinformation/ fake news ! You wish it was fake. The only thing that is fake is Mercy pretending to play varsity lacrosse. Looks like a bad rec. team Go Get Magic Johnson! Ha- I guess your " very reliable" source isn't reliable at all - so you stop with the false information you are the spreader of fake news! - https://www.mercyhighschool.com/news/exciting-changes-for-mercy-athletics

You will only have to do math to add up the loses.

Ok Mercy mom. We will hand out the tissues and calculators at the Inn. You will need both. You will see some real lacrosse and beat downs. We expect you moms to complain about running up the scores. Like we say in the A, “stop us from scoring, don’t complain”. My bad, you don’t need calculators to add up your scores. You can do it on one hand, and in some cases one finger! Say good bye to playoffs and definitely goodbye to championships. I can wait for your players to start quitting and dropping from the team. You will beg to go back to B.

Don’t need math when they score less than 4 per game.

It seems a cage has been rattled and the IAAM Moms don't want to share a table at the Valley Inn? I agree let Mercy fall on their own sword if need be, how will their program ever get a chance to grow if never given an opportunity. When did IAAM A conference become such a "Girls Club" ? That is the issue. It won’t grow. It will have the reverse affect. When we play the bottom tier games, the stands are almost empty. Neither side wants to see a bad game. Hopefully, this is a joke and a Mercy stays in B. Here is my thought. Mercy is one of the few catholic schools around that in comparison to other schools in northern Baltimore is somewhat affordable (17k). They are the girls version of Calvert Hall. They are also starting (at least based on basketball and soccer) to emphasize sports and if they start providing aid to lax players they could have something special. Even with aid not everyone can afford McD, STP, RPC or BM but a 5-10k package can make Mercy very attractive to a family. Especially in northern BC and Baltimore. 5k-10k at the schools mentioned still leaves the parents forking over 20K+-30k+ in tuition vs 7k-12k at Mercy. The sport of lacrosse is growing and not every player comes from a blue blood family. If Mercy builds their program the right way they could be a contender. Probably not next year, but maybe 3-4 years down the line. Make no mistake they will take their lumps next year.

Not sure how religious mercy is but the reason mds doesn’t pull in the Catonsville crew is due to the fact that they are VERY religious. Tough to market to all families when it is that extreme

Let the Mercy mommies gave their day. Next season will be different for them. No more chips and no more outrageous stats from average players. They will now be on the other end of 20-1 beatdowns.

Mercy is located perfectly to scoop up from Owings mills, Towson, Timonium, Perry hall and Hartford co. Not to mention the whole east side of the beltway. A lot of “ifs” but if they put the right people in place they could build a program across all sports. Look at archbishop spalding and the growth they have experienced. Mercy could do the same. ****disclaimer my daughter does not go to Mercy. Her team would probably score 20 before the half. So I have no special interest here.

Maybe it should be like Premier League soccer and every year the bottom 2 teams move down to B and top 2 B teams move up to A.

Look at their schedules and see how many out of conference cupcakes they picked up. Now with Mercy they might have to drop a top team from another area. The top teams are always ready to play the best.
