What will be your excuse next year when your son is in HS trying to compete against JRs and SRs? My son is on age and competes each week in the Elite division. Guess what he never does; complain about playing against older kids. In the end it will just make him better and to be honest the excuse is just that and excuse.

That the crabs team couldn’t compete with kids their own age in a weak HoCo league. Your kid riding the bench on FCA doesn’t mean he’s “elite”.

Interesting post. Correct, Kids will have to compete against older kids at some point. Most of those kids do not fair well against them. A select few will succeed as a Sophmore and far less as a freshman.

If your elite son son dropped to 2027, he more than likely would have far greater success than at 2026. These kids that are one year or even two year holdbacks have a huge advantage. No matter how you you want to look at it.

The ones complaining the most about the 'holdback' issues in lacrosse are the ones who have sons struggling to get PT. Unfortunately these are the cards the boys have been dealt; so you have two options.....work harder or complain constantly here.

holdback dad, Thanks for your input. Maybe, you should have taken your own advice and had your son work harder at 2025.

Exactly.

“No I held him back for uh…Developmental issues…he was immature…”

Or he stunk at sports against kids his own age…

The ones complaining about the "holdback" complainers are the ones that held their kid back to steal PT from "on age" kids. The holdback kids are the ones that should have stayed in their grade and worked harder. Keep complaining about the complainers that have a legit issue.

Again detest to disappoint the whiners but my son is on age; played in the WSYL and is on one of the top 3 teams in HOCO. He works hard and competes and that will go a long way when he is in HS. No excuses just hard work. Try instilling those same values when you look in the mirror and talk to your sons.

Here is my take for this weekend:
Crabs 8 - True 4
91 7 - madlax 6 (assuming ML uses their official HOCO team)
DCE 6 - VLC 5
Hawks 18 - FCA 17. (Neither team plays D)

If you didnt hold your son back, that is on you. If you want him to play at top level, holdback is required in the modern lacrosse age. Look at MD lefty from BL...Whats he 25 and still slinging them in the goal.

Then if you really wanted him to compete, hold him back. The extra year will work wonders. Frankly any top on age kid is really hurting himself by not being held back. Sorry folks that is what it is.

That’s great and I applaud your decision. We made the same one. But what sense does it make constantly complaining about others who made a different choice. At some point you have to move on.

The Big lefty at Maryland was not a holdback at BL....He was on age at BL.... He is 24 now .....Normal College senior is usually 22~23... He is 24 because of Covid year and redshirt status as a Freshman..... Don't spread lies bro

Cut it out again about JR & SR. Most kids on the 8th grade Elite teams land on JV teams. Yes some do make Varsity and most of them do not even play significant minutes against the better teams. So in the end they are playing against sophomores & other freshman. One more year of development from now until next spring is huge. Main reason for holdback is King Crab & the BL complex encouraged it years ago for rising 8th graders to gain an edge. What he lacks in coaching ability was made up with bigger, faster & stronger kids. Others followed.

Hearing from reliable sources that MadLax brought in non-rostered players for their game against Hawks. Sounds par for the course for that shady club and their history. The team this summer won't even be recognizable. Just watch. This is their pattern.

Lets stop that non-sense of trolling and posting rumors. We have watched Madlax play prior to our game and they didnt have any kids come in just to play us. Same kids the week before are the same kids that played us on Saturday

If this is true then pretty pathetic that they scored 9 goals against your defense. LOL.

Sorry holdback dad, 22 is on age graduation age, 23 holdback, 24 Double holdback, and 25 LOL...... Lefty is a BL holdback, Syracuse Redshirt , Extra year due to covid , Three years older than a normal on age senior... Rob Pannell was similar age at college but without extra covid year. Not like that many top players are on age. But lets say what it is. Frankly you are not very smart at this time if you dont hold your son back to play in D1 lacrosse.

Hard pill to swallow, but if you want your son to compete at the D1 level one day, hold him back. And if he is a very good on age, the more reason to hold him back. Better do it before it is to late and he is in HS .

We all have to complain to stop this BS. If we all remain silent, it will continue forever. It wont help my son but it may help someones in the future.

Let's stop that non-sense of trolling and posting rumors. We have watched Madlax play prior to our game and they didn't have any kids come in just to play us. Same kids the week before are the same kids that played us on Saturday

Agree, just because some don't play week to week doesn't mean they are not rostered. The team is pretty much the same with a few that have been out or come in for the special games. The ML way! Let's be honest didn't help much as you can see from the score and you keep #5 from the goal and you are home free. They have as someone else posted previously incorporated an LSM in the offense.

What will be your excuse next year when your son is in HS trying to compete against JRs and SRs? My son is on age and competes each week in the Elite division. Guess what he never does; complain about playing against older kids. In the end it will just make him better and to be honest the excuse is just that and excuse.

If you didnt hold your son back, that is on you. If you want him to play at top level, holdback is required in the modern lacrosse age. Look at MD lefty from BL...Whats he 25 and still slinging them in the goal.

We all have ti make choices in life. We have just decided that teaching our kid to cheat the system wasn’t right.
The Big lefty at Maryland was not a holdback at BL....He was on age at BL.... He is 24 now .....Normal College senior is usually 22~23... He is 24 because of Covid year and redshirt status as a Freshman..... Don't spread lies bro

Lefty Maryland attackmen is 23 bro

Turns 24 in June BRO.

Wait a minute.....you mean if enough of us complain things will change? Has this ever been tried before? Do you think any of these schools are making money on this holdback thing which is why its being encourage?

Hit the wall!!!

Two weeks after winning the title, he will turn 24, if you don't see a problem with that, you are part of the problem.

Agree! I am no fan of MadLax, and if you said its 2026 team is a toxic crew with poor coaching that has been in decline for a couple of years, I would say guilty as charged. But don't make up stuff about non-rostered players. They do fly players in from around the country, and they have a different group week to week, but they are smart enough to have everyone on the roster.

Agree, the ML and Hawks is sooo old. Same results. ML Loss and bad coaching. DCE and Crabs for sure is the new game in town. Good coaching and disciplined players = good games.

So then shouldn't it be "Run IAD" instead of "Run DMV", or do they fly in through Baltimore, so it's really "Run BWI". It's really a shame what happened to that team. Poor coaching, probably 3-4 head coaches over the years who did them no favors, no development (actually regression), age group ignored by the owner, toxic environment, and a few well liked teammates that left. About half of the current team looking for a new home, but be careful to any takers....caveat emptor.
