I don't think teachers or administrators should be pushing their political agendas on children, but that's just me.

I couldn't care less what they do outside of school or off campus.

You don't think Pink cat hats is political then I guess red "Make America Great Again" isn't political either? This is a private school anyways, isn't there some sort of dress code?

Can you please explain this comment? my daughter is looking at GFS as an option. We love the small size, the chance to play early and often. the ability to play multiple sports.

Great school if you can get past the politicalness…..but remember, it is everywhere. The lacrosse program is rebuilding and will be just fine. Not everyone cares about winning championships. Some people actually care more about the academics and that their kids will actually have a chance to play and not ride the bench. If your daughter did a shadow day there and liked it, then send her there.

Just curious is woke or politcalness worse that subtle racism and bigotry that goes on at other schools? Asking for a friend.

Poor mommy and daughter feeling left out? I’m sure it has more to do with her skill and your attitude. But as you said carry on.

Majority of parents I have spoken to who played for him or know him, love him. He supports and goes to bat for his kids. Plus you are not accurate in your description of that event. There was no escort off the field, He got carded out after a bad crease call which cost the game. Stop spreading BS.

New coach is the real deal. They will be top flight within 2 years

Solid school. Pretty affordable by Iaam standards and you know he will be there for 4 more years.

[ChillLaxin].

Awful example for a leader of young women.

Why?

Looks like my reply was sent to soon or edited by moderators.

Anyway, the new Maryvale coach got kicked out of a game last season over a bad call. (probably cost them the game)

Dude went ballistic on refs, yelling / cussing / etc for several mins and had to be escorted off field.

I get it, we all get caught up in the moment but there were tons of little laxers around and was in bad form.

Let's be honest. GFS belongs back in the B conference. Since 2011 their conference record is 19-97 and 8 of those wins came in one fluky year. 4 of they years they didn't win a single game. One year with 1 win, two years with 2 wins and two years with 3 wins.

Question, what is the process from moving from A to B or B to A? Can it happen in an offseason?

How big is the gap from Top B to Bottom A?

Schools can request to move between school years. No, there isn’t a huge difference, if any, between the bottom of A and the top of B. But neither group is competitive with the top half of the A conference. The A conference is far too big most years but schools won’t typically voluntarily move down because it could effect enrollment.

Completely false. The bottom A school is much better then the top B. The two teams scrimmaged last year with a 10-1 score and could of been worse.

No of course not. But should it be 14? No other sport in the IAAM has that many teams in the A conference. Why does lacrosse other than that it is the highest visibility sport in the conference? Since 2014 Mt de Sales best record in conference is 4-7. They haven't been .500 once in the last decade. Every other year they had 0-3 wins. Already posted the history of GFS over the last decade. Why are these teams in the A conference if they can't compete with the other teams? GFS is at least trying to get better but MDS doesn't really support their lacrosse team at all. If you can't at least be .500 twice(MDS hasn't done it once) in a decade why are you in the A conference?

Part of the problem is these top A teams have more talent on their sideline than the other A teams have in lineup.
Not sure the solution is to make less A teams.

I’m the other sports you’re referencing schools in the A still play most teams in the B division anyway. Really only one less round In Playoffs we’re the top teams get a bye game anyway

Every other sport in the IAAM does exactly that. Why is lacrosse any different? Softball has 4. Soccer, basketball and volleyball have 6. Field Hockey has 10. You are correct about talent. So if those schools aren't doing what it takes to bring in talent and compete with the other teams why aren't they playing in the B conference with the other schools that also choose not to do it? Shouldn't there be some expectation of competing at some point over a decade?

Yes, he has been known to do that with his club team too. It will be interesting to see if he is on his best behavior at his new school.

Last season Mercy lost 16-8 to MDS and 10-2 to RPCS in scrimmages. MDS and RPCS won a combined 2 games in the A conference last year. Mercy went undefeated in the B conference. That should tell you all you need to know about the difference between the A and B conferences.

The difference between the 'A' conference and the 'B' conference is exponential. Same with between the 'B' and the 'C' conferences. Generally speaking, 'A' conference teams will consist of mostly club players from very strong club teams and 3-5 game impact players. 'B' conference may have 5 or 6 club players with maybe 1 exceptional impact player on a team. 'C' conference teams might have 1-3 players from club teams and are mostly made up of athletes from other sports like soccer or basketball and lacrosse is their "second" sport. Just kind of what I have noticed over many years of being involved in IAAM lacrosse.

It’s very hard for a coach to recruit “A” level players to a school in “B” conference. A school like Mercy would have a hard time taken that next step. Have a great soccer program maybe if they could find some soccer players that also play lax.

You definitely have a point. Though if they moved to the A conference recruiting would be a bit easier and they would have a much bigger pool of girls to recruit from. Not every kid or parent wants to or has the means to send their kid to St. Paul’s and McDonogh. Mercy could be a great alternative. They could focus on the middle of the pack players and sprinkle in a top tier player every other class and have a competitive team. Other schools have done it like gcs and trying to do it like gfs.

GCS built their program by throwing a lot of money at lacrosse players to come there. They are not going to keep doing that(Part of the reason BR is no longer there) and their program will fall back to the pack. But that's what they had to do to successfully move from B to A like they did. Is Mercy willing to do that?

Same can be said for McD. CR had a lot of money to work with and recruited lots of talent. His last group is the 2022’s. McD does not throw money around anymore and does not have the recruits they used too. Team is top heavy this year, what will happen next few years?

I would say the 21 class was his last group. The 22 class is when the purse strings from administration were cut. 98% of that 22 class has been there since lower school years.

Winning every game is nice but in the end - Who cares? Great school with long term benefits and the girls get to play a high level lacrosse schedule that rivals anyone else's schedule. McD will always be a draw because it's still one of the top, if not the top, school in the area academically.

Let’s be honest- most parents with kids who go to private in 9th grade really only choose the school for the preferred sport

So if 20 of the varsity players and 10 jv who ride the pines at a school like NDP chose mercy or RPCS or Bryan Mawr instead they could have meaningful high school lax experiences. But instead they sit the bench for their school teams and watch the same 18 girls play year after year.

It never ceases to amaze me

But hey …, they can say they went to NDP right ???

It's almost like playing time isn't the primary motivating factor for most kids/parents despite your claims to the contrary.

Most definitely a factor, but not the deciding factor. Can not be when there is a chance of burnout, loss of interest in a sport or any other reason. the education has to stand alone or it's a bad decision to rely on playing time as the main reason.

I have a 7th grader and to be honest, you don’t envision them sitting most of their career, you assume they get on the field. By the time writing is on the wall, kid may be socially or academically comfortable so you plow forward I would imagine.

Many players on the sidelines at MCD, NDP and SPSG still play in college (or choose not to for whatever reason) which tells you how talented these teams are compared to the rest of the league.

I’m a bit confused why we’re putting SPSG in the sesame conversation as McD and NDP. These are storied programs that have been producing quality D1 players for decades. SPSG usually around a 500 team for the last 20 years and has won one championship shouldn’t to be compared to what other programs have done certainly not McD. Even if they win again this year which they may the history isn’t there.

Dude I have gone onto D1 and D3 with my kids. Some clubs and schools are great at getting their kids recruited. Period.
Just look at how recruiting went for the girls this year.
Almost all of the players on CT Grizzlies went before many other teams. The second string on CTG went before the first team of MDBlack. All on word of mouth over talent.
There’s plenty of room for good players but don’t act like bench warmers on SPSG, NDP and McD are more talented than others.

they were comparing the bench players the rest of the league not the CT Grizzlies. No one really cares how many CT Grizzlies got recruited and before who.
