Number of holdbacks on the field, that is the way it should be counted. Who is on the sideline doesn’t matter. So hawks are at 40% and crabs at 100%. That seems more realistic. “Quote”
Lol😂..... If you think ever harder you will eventually convince yourself of another reason why your son’s team struggles to compete against Hawks. Maybe the truth is he is a very good player, super smart, a great artist, all of the above or even more then that. This being said there are other kids who, at this point in life, are simply more gifted lacrosse players then he is. Going one step further, a bunch of similarly skilled kids have come together to play on the same team who, at this point in their life, dominate other lacrosse teams. Do you really think four kids on Hawks born in July or August instead of November or January are the reason they are currently dominating 2026 play? Even if all 4 are on the filed always at the same time, which is highly unlikely, do you really believe this can explain football like final scores in the first few weeks of HOCO? Hopefully you can find joy in all your son brings to you, your family and others in life to allow you to stop trying to justify why he and his friends/teammates can’t dominate a youth sport at 13. Express may take issue with you using the word dominate, FACT! Do you mean the 100% on age Express team?

Hawks Dad - unless your son is the face-off middie or the big middie who generates most of the offense (either by scoring himself or dominating the attention of the defense), you should not be so condescending. Take away those two players and the Hawks would be somewhere in the middle of the other nine teams in the elite division. You forgot the little attackmen who wears #1, you forgot 3, you forgot 5, and you forgot 00&7. The defense and goalie speak for themselves The defense is a joke and average at best. The offense is what make the defense since they control the ball 80%+ of the game. Goaltender is legit but the defense is a major weakness.

Perfect! So you now believe that success is a function of the FOGO and one middie and no longer believe success is a function of the 4 off age kids being on the field at the same time. Problem is the Hawks played my son’s team at WSYL and both the FOGO and mid-fielder played the entire weekend so clearly they are not part of the four in question who are “always on the field” that the earlier post suggested were at the heart of success. Point is one post speaks of older kids on field driving success, another it is the FOGO and middie and an even earlier post it was the goalies. Could it be, if you add all this up, teams like Express, Hawks, Tigers, etc are simply great teams, with excellent coaching staffs that need no explanations or excuses, or mass influx of reclassified 8th graders (ala Crabs and the plethora of teams that conspired to form Monuments, Black Ops, etc) as to why they outplay the other teams? Again, LOL!

Your best argument is take away 2 starters and they would be middle of the pack?? Their attack dominated us and neither one of those 2 guys play attack. We only scored a few goals, so it seems like their d, and 2 goalies did ok. Plus, take two of the top 2 players off of your son's team, or my son's team and let's see where they stand in the elite division. Probably dead last. Accept it, they are the best team in our area.

The crabs fogo has been there for at least 2 years. He left roughriders and went to crabs when they formed the 26 team. He is 100% not on age, like many kids that matriculate to Gilman....he is a reclassed kid. As are most of the Gilman boys who play elite....but its not for lacrosse......its for developmental deficiencies.
Psst...schools like Gilman do not take boys with developmental deficiencies. This is true.

But don't kid yourself that your son is at a higher level than his counterparts on the next best 4-5 teams in the elite division.

Ha, and his own son. So I must have been correct. Either a defender who got cut, or a defender planning on on trying out.

Yawn. Seriously, the holdback talk, enough. It’s not going away. Embrace it or don’t play elite. Plenty of AAA teams with no holdbacks, so join one, make one of them better, be the star. Maybe then you will be happy.

Interesting game this weekend between Team 91 and True Annapolis. I bet that each of their supporters on this Board think that their own team is a force to reckon with, that the other team is a bottom feeder, and hence the game will be a blowout - am I right???

Too early to pick the studs or the duds. Looneys is 0-3 and DFL, but nobody would call them a bottom feeder.

You shouldn’t call any team bottom feeders. These are children you’re talking about.

I would call Looneys a bottom feeder. How about winning a game? Lol The double standard here is awesome. Teams finish in the bottom of the Elite and AAA leagues and they are called "bottom feeders." Teams win the AAA and AA leagues and they "don't challenge themselves" Lots of petty parents. None of this should be about winning. It should be about developing, placing kids and letting them play and have fun. Lots of HOF-type guys in the club programs have taken all the fun out of this sport for children.
