Iona head coach Michelle Mason named four captains for the upcoming 2017 season. Seniors Erin Pugh and Brianne Towey will lead the Gaels alongside juniors Jenna Tolzmann and Gabriella Di Domizio.

Pugh, a 5'10" senior from Wantagh, NY, has led the Maroon & Gold in goals since her freshman season. After tallying 25 goals as a rookie, Pugh totaled 48 and 47 goals respectively the following two seasons. As a junior, she accumulated 2.0 goals per game average, ranking 10th in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Last season, Pugh averaged 2.75 draw controls per game, good for eighth in the conference.

Towey begins her fourth year as a defenseman for the Gaels. The Hauppauge, NY native has been stout on defense throughout her tenure. She acted as a catalyst for the Gaels last season, specifically in caused turnovers per game where the Maroon & Gold ranked third in the conference.

Tolzmann returns for her third season with the Maroon & Gold. The midfielder standout posted 20 goals and six assists last season. Tolzmann tied for the team lead in caused turnovers (17), and ranked fourth in points (26). The junior appeared in all 18 games for the Gaels, grabbing 28 ground balls and registering 25 draw controls.

Di Domizio enters her third season as a defender for the Gaels. Her 1.83 groundballs per game ranks ninth all-time in Iona history. Di Domizio currently ranks seventh in program history in caused turnovers (50), and sits atop the program record books in caused turnovers per game (1.43). She appeared in all 18 games for Iona, recording team highs in groundballs (40) and caused turnovers (30).

The Iona Lacrosse program will kick off its 2017 season on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Wagner. The Gaels' home opener will take place one week later when Central Connecticut State visits Mazzella Field.
