US Lacrosse - Position Paper on Youth Participation (Adobe Acrobat Format)

US Lacrosse has recently published this white paper on Youth Participation which was finalized on October 30th, 2011. Among the topics considered are Overuse and Burnout, Nutrition, Hydration, Concussions, and Fair Play. As a result, several endorsements and recommendations are made covering both the Boys and Girls games.
great document, should be required reading for all parents.
It baffles me that don't mention age appropriate field size. Also, should consider small sided games that are age appropriate so that younger kids only have 7/8 per side so that the kids get a fair amount of playing time.

Fair points - US Lacrosse seems to have started from a medical basis for this report and that yielded some very useful suggestions. Team and field size can certainly be managed at the youth league and tournament level. As we have said, there are many issues that BOTC believes need to be tackled (player passes being just one, league formation being another) before legislating team construction issues. Let's take the paper for what it was : a statement (or reminder) about some very important youth topics.
