What are the five best teams on Long Island for 2026?
YJ Manning and Jesters, after that it’s all downhill
Didn’t they recently bring in some new directors and coaching staff? Sounds like they have been reorganizing and are putting in great efforts for the club and their teams. They do offer a lot of training and opportunities. Club seems to be doing the right things. Unlike some others.

Torre wants his team to do well. He puts in a lot of time with the team.
Ranked 4th in the country and 3rd in NYS in US Club Lacrosse rankings. Fake news
Both are solid squads but the rosters have 26 deep each, probably consider another club as not much movement will occur. Both excellent coaches and highly competitive. Voss team is a touch better -

I hear they lose a lot of players each year, playing time and too much parent involvement but you can really say that about any club

yes there is some that are leaving on all teams
There seems to always be movement and positioning up until like 9/10th grade. So, if you want to go to the tryouts. Could be some openings? Not sure though? Can’t hurt to tryout if you are interested in that club.

YJ Tryouts were postponed due to weather. New tryout date 8/29
YJ Manning and Jesters Black are the two top teams by far. Huge gap between these two teams and everyone else
I think that the tryouts happened for 2026
Sundays tryouts were postponed but Mondays tryouts were still on. 2026 had a good turnout. At least 15-20 new girls trying to secure a spot.

stop seriously the whole island knows who is number 1 ..... it sure isn't jesters.

It must, also, be frustrating to not know when to use “lose” vs “loose” in a sentence.
Voss is not even close to better. the team can't compete with the other YJ teams and it plays lower divisions and sometimes ages in all tournaments when the other teams play up.
I wonder why so many of Torre’s girls wanted to leave and came to Voss…

The scores and games are all posted online. Torre lowered a division all season hardly playing the big names and every loss is an excuse. Ask the team mom, he’s got one for everyday of the week and a ton of time on his hands!

How is the YJ Gryz team? Saw they went undefeated at QOTI.
Ok. I know that the fall rankings are meaningless but I just saw US lacrosse’s new rankings. How is YJ number 1? They played 6 games. Two of their wins were against their B and C teams and the only team that would have been worth beating was Heroes and they lost. How are the rankings determined when other teams played more games and had more wins?
lost to heroes , got doubled up 8-4. nothing is real.

It’s ok. It really depends on what you are expecting out of it. If you want some decent lacrosse then it serves it purpose. If you are expecting to get “seen” by college coaches(in 8th grade ) then it’s a waste of time. College assistants make terrible money. They come to these events because they get paid to come. They are not looking at 8th grade girls for recruiting purposes. Just my opinion

Definitely try and get your daughter moved if you are not happy! Reach out to team directors. Ask about opening and a private tryout. Maybe practice with a team for a tryout. Going to get much harder to leave / get on a team going foreword.

If you are good enough, there is space on every lax team on the island.

It gets harder and harder to get on top teams as they to HS age. Teams will pretty much be set unless a girl is a super stud. The teams pretty much know the girls out there by then.

How is UA150 similar to NYSR? NYSR you’re playing against other counties in NYS. UA150 is more of a camp for the top 150 players. Maybe you’re thinking UAAA

No reason to be pushing an 8th grader to play Varsity other than bragging rights! Unless it’s an 8th grader who should really be a 9th or 10th grader? Held back?

NYSR games are the new version of the Empire Games. Back when i was in High School the Empire Games were the pinnacle of NY sports... the ability to claim you were the best in the state... happy to see them back. But its a NY state only event... can be high profile if you get good players from the regions... but i wouldnt compare it to UA 150

i doubt any 8th graders will see the field on any hs team. unless its a smaller school with not a lot of talent. the bigger school teams won't have 8th graders playing

At this age, the people running it do have an idea of the LI talent. So, true they prob. Had some idea of some of the kids they were picking.

honestly it should be te YJ team players because they def have the best players on LI...not all but that team does pretty well so wouldn't you eexpect they make it?

Definitely a YJ skewed tryout. Most girls LAX things on LI is going to be if they are involved. There is also a reason, as most of the top players play for YJ teams. They are in top 5 club in the nation and top club on LI as far as talent goes. The tryout teams will be made up of a lot of YJ players and maybe rightfully so? With that said, I believe the other players needs to be giving a fair evaluation! I don’t think that always happens.

Every evaluator at the tryout has been or is currently associated with YJ. Including the 2026 coach walking around telling his kids, don't worry you are going to be on the team. I mean you could had tent to stand under that wasn't a YJ advertisement. Be honest.

Is YJ Gryz a 2026 C team or a Nassau A team?
As an outside observer I was wondering how many teams does YJ have at the 26 age group. I’m at tournaments with them and see several teams. Also, what does this team do other than tournaments. In MD the top clubs play in NGLL and have a “season”. Does YJ do something similar?

Yes! Always! If your daughter shows up and out performs their “stars”, she will be offered a spot. Don’t be intimidated, be ready!
