Long Island Express had a good year in the 2015 age group. 2015 Blue won the Forsberg Tournament. Meanwhile 2015 Orange won the Tristate (14AA Division), Jersey Shootout, and Shamrock Tournament. Good season in this age group.
Per a user request, bringing the Boys 2015 thread back to life. Comments and discussions covering the Boys 2015 age group may be posted here.
Just one dad's observation, I was at the Stony Brook tournament yesterday and it was great to see all the kids from all the different teams being so friendly with each other, this is a new year for a lot of kids some leaving town to go to St A and Cham as well as a decent turnover on the travel teams, you also had a bunch of kids seeing old teammates for the first time since the Summer, i really liked the interaction from so many different towns and it wasn't on facebook

I was at tourney as well. Lax community is awesome. Saw some good games also at the jv and Varsity level.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Team swag, 2015. Every kid had an express or flag bag. Saw the team play last night. The game pinnie was the st ants freshman tie and shirt. They ran over both teams in two games last night in smith town arena. This team is good. They could have won by 15 or 20 goals with no problem.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
The team you saw was probably the Express Blue team, which is the "B" team. The Orange "A" team doesn't play in the indoor league as far as I know. What's a flag bag?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
he meant fl$ and I think this is a team put together for the fall and winter made up of fl$, Express Orange and Blue as well as some other kids, anyone please correct if I am wrong
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
If I'm not mistaken, there is probably no mixing of Express and fl$ kids on this particular winter indoor team. Any fl$ bags may have been from kids that have jumped from fl$ to Express this year - at least until the fl$ teams are selected.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
You are correct. It is to play indoor during the winter. All of these kids will play for the clubs they are with already in the summer. LIE Orange, Blue, fl$, and others undecided. It is a good fun team to watch. Keeps the sticks in their hands for the winter.

from what I understand it is a lot of fl$ -
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
4-5 different summer club teams are represented on this team this year. These boys have been friends and or teammates since 4/5th grade. They are a great group who are lucky enough to have a supportive dad coach. Team name has changed through the years but it has always been about having fun and enjoying the game during fall or winter!

Based on my understanding of the close relationship between the person who organizes the indoor team and the Express as well as how this indoor team has been organized in the past with Express-only players, it would be the first time that they include any kids dedicated to playing for fl$ next summer. Not saying it can't happen but it would be a first. BTW - fl$ has their own out of season team called the snipers. Are you talking about 2015 or some other grade?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
I think everyone is talking about two different teams. Team Swag is a good team as are the Snipers. The Snipers do have alot of fl$ kids on the roster, but also include Express,Lizard,Outlaws and Jester players. It was put together by kids who wanted to play in the winter season 2 years ago --just to have fun with their friends. When you take the parents out of it,the boys get along fine - -NO DRAMA.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Who's going to Winter Nationals Indoor Lacrosse Championship in New Jersey, so far The Ballers and Outlaws, anybody else?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Outlaws are not going - Jesters are going
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
There was a great rivalry last year with fl$ and Express Orange 2015. This year it seems like they have entirely different tournament schedules except for U-15 in Florida. This is a shame - the game that I saw last year at Tristate was epic! These teams should be matching up as many times as possible. What gives this year? Who is ducking who? Anyone have any insights?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Both fl$ and Express (2015) are very, very good teams! fl$ is not ducking anyone (nor Express). Both teams will meet in Florida this summer. As for that Tri State tournament last summer you coudn't ask for a better final than that! Express goalie came up huge and the kids really respect one another. Doesn't get any classier than that.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
3D Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip invites went out yesterday 2/16 - who's going?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Just heard that the U-15 championships in Florida are limiting each team to a maximum of 24 players. Fact is that fl$ 2015 and Express have several more than that on the roster. Awful lot of money to plunk down for those kids on the roster who will not be invited to go. Who gets "uninvited"? Pull up a chair and let the fireworks begin!

that will suck for the kids not asked, last year i think teams had to bring up kids from the younger teams to fill the spots of the players that were over aged so it was not a problem, with the age change, probably very few if any 2015's will be over aged this year. good luck to all.

From the U-15 tourney website:

Championship Roster Size
24 players per team MAX – four coaches and four chaperones (coaches may double as chaperones).

This can't possibly be called a U-15 "National" Championship unless the Crabs attend. And they are not attending.

with teams from California, Texas, Washington St., Florida, Georgia, Arizona and the Carolina's, as well as all of the traditional hot beds and 3 regional play in tournaments I would say this clearly is a "National" tournament and since it is open to any organization in the country as well as being run by the National Governing body of the sport, I think it is fair to call it a "Championship" even if the Crabs choose not to participate. If tiger would decides to not play in the US Open does that mean that it is no longer a Championship?

Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Crabs can't attend! Age issue. They will be taking their SATs and going to drivers Ed. You know, because their all 9th graders.... Lol
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
If the Crabs did attend they would take this tournament without a sweat.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
My bet is a California team will win it. They are just physically much stronger and better conditioned athletes that will hold up better in the blazing heat. Their team conditioning programs are like the Navy Seals. By the end of the tournament nobody will be able to keep up with them.

Seriously, new hotbeds Texas vs. Cali in the final.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Lizards tied Ballers and Jesters tied fl$ - parity in 2015 or watered down product? hopefully we will see 91 and Express play some locals and we will see - 1025 looks to have a bunch of teams that can compete not just one or two.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Was anyone at the fl$ game at jdrf. I heard they were outplayed. Ballers and lizards ended in a tie also. Looks like a lot of evenly matched teams in the mix this year.

Hey, if New Jersey can produce the number 1 HS football team in America, anything is possible. However, keep a sharp eye on Stong Island in the final!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
I was not at that game but we played them both. Jesters were definately more physical defensively. fl$ is a talented group. All the players had great stick skills and it would be hard to pinpoint a weakness. Their defense is probably where they could use a little help but their attack seems solid. Its hard to find a team that is real good on both ends of the field. Jesters had a little more speed. Hopefully Ill get to see these two play over the summer. Should be a good one
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Don't be fooled by fl$'s performance at the JDRF. They were missing at least 2 if not 3 of their best difference makers at all 3 field positions because of the ongoing public high school playoffs. Once they get those players back they will dominate Jesters, and I think will be even better than Express Orange. However, without those missing players fl$ is a good team but not great and very beatable.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
The old, We were missing players excuse.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
How many HS varsity players still in the playoffs were the wannabe Jesters, Lizards or Ballers missing at JDRF? My bet - Zero.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Now Now. fl$ is the best. We all get it. The problem is that you don't.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Jesters and some others are definately as good as fl$ but only when fl$ does not have its varsity players. Lets see what the summer brings.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Yeah definitely. We were missing guys and it was the refs fault.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
We decided to stay for "the game of the day". Both teams playing at a higher level than most. Both teams had some missed opportunities. The jesters looked like the better team. Their defense looks to be their strong point. Jesters midfield was fast and played well. Both teams overall very solid.

"Who cares who wins" - ha, ha thanks for the "kum-ba-yah" chuckle. Just a hunch but I bet fl$ and Express care very much who wins.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
The 2014 and 2013 express team didnt live up to the hype in Deleware. Maybe its time for daddy to step down.
Seems that the 2015s have it right. A real coaching staff is the difference.
It is ok when they are younger, but when they get older you have to get rid of the dads.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Do you think it is the difference of havng a different coach after x amount of years . to much of the same thing may not take them to the next steps. good bad or indifferent

fl$ and Express Orange did not play. Not sure about Express Blue at Maverik.

Heard So. Shore Ballers did not win "A" bracket at Maverik as many might have expected. Did not hear result but NJ Diesel and Superstar (Westchester/CT) were in the final.

Too bad the West Coast Starz and the Crabs will not be there. Those are the only two that have proven they can beat the Express this year. fl$ might as well hand over the trophy to the Express right now and save both teams the plane fare.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Six Florida teams and only 2 from MD. Seems watered down. Congrats Express.

FCA usually has kids from all over, LI kids have been on this team in years past, I don't understand why if the 2015 Baltimore teams don't go because so many kids are not U15 why they don't send their 2016 teams that are U15? Just adding any Crabs team would legitimize the entire "national Championship" concept

Agreed - add laxachussets and a couple of others to the notable missing. Curious if anybody has any insight into why so many good clubs bypass this? Cost? Location? Heat? It can't be the age thing anymore since that was adjusted this year. Without the clubs mentioned that are missing, the NSCLA has to be considered "the real" U15 championship. This is going to be a cakewalk for Express. Another NY final for sure and Express by 7 or 8 in the final. It'll be over by halftime. The rest of the teams are wasting their time.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Winning this will be much easier than the NSCLA and therefore won't mean as much. But still a good test and not a total waste of time. But, until somebody beats the WC Starz they will be the unofficial best U15 team. Does anybody know if they've lost this year? Aside from the NSCLA is there a tournament out there where EVERYBODY will meet (Crabs, Express, Starz, Laxachussets, Jesters, Ballers, fl$ etc.). Maybe we'll just have to wait until next year. I know this summer has just started but what are the key tournaments for next year were all the best clubs might meet?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
They bypass because their players are too old to play in it. They may be in 9th grade, but they are NOT U15.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Many of the teams you mention will be at the Young Guns July 7-8th Tournament in MD. Should be a good couple days of lax. Its for 2018 and 2017 teams.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
How about crabfeast
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Prediction: fl$ 2015 won't make the final 4 in FL. I saw them last week in MD. Great F/O but team has a low lax IQ. Strategy has been to assemble the best athletes they can find but not necessarily the smartest lacrosse players. That worked two years ago in rising 8th grade but has caught up to them now. They have good team speed and try to out hustle and run past other teams with most of their goals coming in unsettled, transition situations. But, in settled situations, they have a selfish and undisciplined "can you top this" run and gun super star offensive mentality (no set offense - can't pass it around more than 3 passes before somebody can't help themselves and pulls the trigger on a low quality shot) and weak defense. Team looks like tarzan in warmups and 1-1s but plays like Jane against fundamentally sound and defensively disciplined teams. MAke sure you middies hustle back and play rope-a-dope against them and they will get frustrated and make plenty of mistakes to beat themselves. Going home early.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Best thing fl$ 2015 can do is bring in a more sophisticated coaching philosophy that can get these boys back to the top where they should be. This team has stagnated and probably regressed from where it was two years ago. They used to be the best in this grade and now they are just pretty good. Subtract 2 GC varsity players and they are just ok. They used to be a decent match for Express but I doubt they can keep the deficit to less than 7 or 8 in a full game now. I guarentee we'll see the entire team try out for Express Orange again this fall but only the two GC varsity kids are good enough.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Agreed. Its not the boys' fault - they are allowed to free wheel and run the asylum because of their athletic gifts but they are continually outcoached. No way a team with that much athletic talent shouldn't be able to beat anybody - including Dukes, Crabs and Express. They're not even close now, but they can be. I hope they can keep this team together but no doubt changes are in store for next year.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
fl$ 2015 player for player can match up with any other team their age in the country ( express, crabs, dukes...) If they can come together as a team they will be solid. They have a big roster which dose not allow their stars to make plays but if they can play team offense and team defense they can be a great team.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Let me guess, an express parent thinking that express is on top of the world, the past 3 fl$ tournaments not all of their kids have been there. Half the kids are all varsity players, great offense, great defense. Past 3 years been in the finals of a u15 championship with half of the 2015 team playing up and winning a u15 title.

fl$ would defenitley out match west coast starz and probably would have won the nscla tournament. Since express is so good and will win by 7 or 8, we'll have to see who the better team is in florida when fl$ goes to a 4th straight title, and wins their 2nd straight u15 national title.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
fl$ will shock the Express and retain the title. Express has all the pressure and expectations of winning. fl$ will play lose and smart. fl$ 10 Express 8. It will be a great final.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Dont dismiss the jesters. They are playing some great lacrosse. What LI teams are playing at Hofstra this weekend?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
You got it wrong. Jesters will be in the final in FL. The fact that both fl$ and Express will underestimate them will work to their advantage. They are as solid as any team out there.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
Anybody know how Express Orange did at tri-state? Were they successful defending their title?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Boys 2015 Fall 2011/Spring 2012 -
No prediction here. I think fl$ and express Orange are probably 2 of the best teams I have seen out of the 2015 group. You could argue all day who is better. If they played each other I'm sure it could go either way. There are other teams out there that will give them both a run for their money. The Ballers look good and would not be an easy win for either team. I hear a lot about the jesters also and they should probably in the mix as well.

The why didn't the trutles play 2016 orange in the ships a few weeks ago instead of being claimed a co-champion? It would of looked even better on the website. Turtles are the best team at there age...no where close if they move up and play real AA level competition. The fall down and cry routine to get penalties wouldn't go very far in disney.

I dont know this trutle team you are talking about but the Turtles had nothing to do with the co-champion call (FACT and DEAL WITH IT ALREADY). The Turtles do not need to be anything but the best in their age group. They played real AA this past weekend unless you consider the U-13 Crabs, Next Level and Green Turtles sub par. Go away please none of your comments bring value to this forum!

The reason why Turtles didn't play 2016 Orange was there was only downside for Orange. Orange would be expected to win vs a younger team. It would be [lacrosse]-hum to win and a huge black eye to lose. Orange was ducking the Turtles. Now lets get back to 2015.

But unless they make a surprise appearance in FL (rumor has it could be next year ahead of schedlue), you have to go with Express until fl$ proves they can beat them. 4-3 Express.

If all they need to do is be the best in their age group then why do so many Turtle parents think their kids should leapfrog everybody and be starters on JV (or varsity) next year? Relax!

Once again, toxic text...why are you bringing up JV or HS lax when someone responds to your rant about kids falling down and crying? How a parent manages his/her kid individually is not a reflection of how a team functions as a unit. In the end it is finding whats best for your kid. If some of the Turtle kids are in weak school brackets and need the challenge so be it. Its up to the AD and school coaches, not an opinion by a parent. This is an old argument and does not need to go beyond parent, coach and child. Enjoy the rest of the summer tourneys.

Trust me, 2016 Orange was ready to go when the call came to declare co-champions. They drive all over the east coat to play the best teams and you think they're scared of the turtles? 2016 Orange was the loser in the deal. No one wants to be a co-champion with a younger team.

From the turtles website:

"Looking for a game with the Turtles? Use the contact link to email us anytime! We don't duck anyone."

You need to add the following...except for LI Express 2016 Orange.

Did you contact them for a game or are you just an anonymous clown fish parent?

We beat them twice and our kids were salivating watching the turtles play the outlaws. Joe d could not run any faster to call the game off. Orange wanted to beat them for the last time but the turtles were tired.

From their website, it looks like they are waiting for you to call...did you?
