News from the Long Island Wave Girls 2013 : The 2013's were finalists at the Upper Atlantic loosing the championship game by only one goal after spotting their opponent a 5-1 halftime lead. They followed that tournament up with a semi finalist performance at the Club Nationals with a 5-1 record. This team will win a couple of championships next summer. They are an excellent team that is extremely well coached by Ali Bourgal and Linda Sulinski.

Long Island Express 2013 is now 3W-0L-0T along with Sky Walkers 2013 Blue in the Chincoteague group. Unfortunately, these two do not face each other in group play.

Long Island Wave 2013 stand at 1W-2L-0T in their group despite a +2 goal differential.

Long Island Top Guns 2013 Black have been outstanding so far at 3W-0L-0T and a +13 goal differential.

Yellow Jackets 2013 Blue have torn up their bracket with 36GF in three matches.

Yellow Jackets 2013 Gold are also 3W-0L-0T with a +13 goal differentials.

Long Island Liberty 2013 Black stands at 2W-1L-0T with a tough final match pending.

Playoff action kicks off at 2:40pm.

Two Signings at Richmond

Michaela Aymong, a 5’4 goalkeeper hails from Northport, N.Y. and plays for Northport High School. Aymong was a four-year letter winner and starter for her squad and won the New [lacrosse] Class A championship in 2011. Aymong also was a member of the Suffolk County Class A regular champion team in 2009 and 2010. Amyong was a senior captain and a two-time All-Tournament team selection. Amyong is a 2010 All-County selection and a two-time All Conference selection. In addition to athletics, Aymong was a Suffolk County Exceptional Senior Award winner and a Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholar-Athlete award winner. Aymong played club lacrosse for Long Island Yellow Jackets Elite Club Blue Team.

Catherine McTiernan, a 5’5 attacker from Garden City, N.Y., plays for Garden City High School. McTiernan is a two-year starter was named a 2011 All-Nassau County selection. McTiernan also was a member of the six-straight New [lacrosse] State Class B Champion team, Nassau County champions and Long Island champion team. McTiernan was a scholar athlete in lacrosse. McTiernan played club lacrosse for Long Island Liberty Black Lacrosse.

Congratulations to both of them. But they're class of 2012, not 2013.

I would like to congratulate a former Long Island student, Alanna Costigan, who signed her National Letter Of Intent to play lacrosse for Urbana University next year. I think that it is important to recognize all students who achieve something that not many players will have a chance to do. It is even more important to recognize this player since her home school, Shenendehowa, refused to recognize her. Congratulations!!!

Garden City (Garden City, N.Y.) junior Marie Cristoforo verbally committed to play women's lacrosse for Marquette.

Cristoforo gave her commitment on Dec. 8. The defensive midfielder plays club lacrosse with For the Love of the Game.

Most often, via e-mails from coaches, supervisors, parents, or clubs that want to recognize particular players. Of course, some posters add their own information without e-mailing us first which is certainly preferred. This also allows some clubs to be recognized for working with players.
