What's the rundown for girls 2026? Who are the teams to tryout for?

Is there any Fall lacrosse teams out there for this age group?

I know there are multiple YJ teams in this age group. Do they have a A and B or is it done by geographical area? Also where do each practice and lastly why do they hold tryouts so late? I also here TGs are a good team in older age groups and are starting a team in this age group now. Anyone know where they will practice out of?

They do have geographical teams (YJ South for example) but assuming you mean the LI teams, they are A, B, C, D, etc. Practice locations seem to depend on the coach. Tryouts are so late so they can scoop up all the girls who didn't like where they were placed on other clubs, or to make all the girls who aren't sure wait until they are past the commitment dates for the other clubs, so they don't have another option. There are (virtually) no cuts at YJ - they will keep making teams until everyone has a spot. Beware once you get past A or B.

Can anyone with experience on elevate at this age. I don't care if it's good or bad. How is the coaching, do they do winter training and are all tournaments out of NY or do they play local also.

My daughter played at Liberty few years too..never saw mommy coaches but plenty of unqualified college kids filling in and very weak hs coaches....

Great for your daughter and niece. I’m talking about the 2026 team since this is the thread.

Some pretty harsh words about Liberty. My daughter played last year on their black and is playing again this year. Oh and she also made TG black. She had a great experience, made a ton of new friends, and increased her lax IQ ten fold. You have to evaluate your daughter and decide what program is best for her...after all that’s who it’s really about.

Why not try it ( YJ) your still way early in the process, if after the summer you realize its not for you move on.. It's not the Army, you can leave after 1 summer
you'll have something to compare other clubs/tryouts to and you'll have a summer of playing travel lax under your belt.
YJ has its warts.. but in my opinion all travel clubs do.

I am sure any club will take your daughter at this age. Depending on where you live - Nassau or Suffolk reach out to some of the clubs - fl$, Liberty and others in Nassau and TG, Legacy, YJ and others in Suffolk. At this age focus on training and developing your daughter and what clubs have the best coaches. Dont listen to clowns on here that tell you that their team is the best 2026 team - its absurd. Coaching is key.RHt

It's true!! Lived it and left! My daughter plays in an older age group. She was snubbed at YJ tryouts. Then she went on to a different team and excelled. Committed to a top Ivy now. Stay away, it's toxic!

My daughter didnt play travel last year and is a year older than your daughter if she is a 2026 but went to a lot of the Liberty clinics. Coaching was excellent and her skills improved greatly. SOmething to consider if you are in Nassau.

Jesters is the club to be at...no other

Yes jesters is the club if you like mommy and daddy coaches and B players that left another club.

At least Jesters provides their own lacrosse balls for tryouts and doesn't ask players to bring their own.

Thanks for the summary. I'm in Nassau and daughter will be starting travel next year.

In regards to TG vs Liberty, did you prefer one over the other? Pros/ cons?

Thanks in advance.

I guess when you have 10 girls tryout you don’t need the extra balls
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2026-5th Grade Fall 2018/Summer 2019 - 09/25/18 02:11 PM
Well when you have 5 new girls tryout, you really don’t need the extra balls. Plus every girl should have a ball in their bag anyway no?

After you charge girls $65 for a tryout you can't provide a ball. You people are really brain washed.

It’s not about the ball or the $65. It’s about the coaching at this level and if the girls improve throughout the year.

Its about making money hand over fist and you tell people to bring their own balls. Really?

If you don't bring a ball, do you automatically get banished to the B team?

You were likely already there before the try-out even started

Where does Liberty, Jesters, Empire fall within the lax hierarchy?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2026-5th Grade Fall 2018/Summer 2019 - 09/28/18 12:40 AM
Jesters and empire are not even in the same league. While they may have a couple of good age groups they have zero history of getting girls recruited or dealing with college coaches. Liberty has a fine reputation. You don’t have to be on the best team in an age group to get recruited. You need to do a lot of work on your own and have someone with credibility among coaches to back you up!!!

Team 91

91 2025 is the exception not the rule, 2026 eh. While the 2025 coach is essentially a daddy coach his pedigree speaks for itself and he has the talent and manages it well.

Top Guns is just starting a 2026 year team. I personally would suggest another club unless you have older siblings already committed to TG. YJ 2026A is solid.

True, M&D is the club YJA compares themselves to. M&D will further separate themselves from YJ this year. YJB is not even in the conversation of best cubs, sorry!

Why are you even commenting on this thread about 2025? This is the 2026 thread - please go whine somewhere else. YJ 2026A WAS a solid team last year. Heard they lost a lot of girls this year to other clubs, cant imagine why? No one drinking the CR kool-aid anymore?

YJ is a dying club.

Looks like CR wins again.

They only had one team for this age group. They folded because they didn’t have enough girls to field a team.

Looks like they filled out the YJB roster.

Outside of the 2025 team, the girls side of 9D1 is an aspiring dumpster fire.

I agree. The 91 girls program is a mess. The 2026 team was a total disaster. Some of us went to yellow jackets and some went to top guns

I saw the Hero's 2026 Green team play YJ's this weekend, and wow, they are good. I heard that the U of MD coach helped pick the team. Wonder if that is true?

Considering her kid is on Hero’s Green- it wouldn’t be shocking to hear she had a hand in the roster. . Seems like the Heroes also picked the refs for LiveLoveLax showcase. No way was that a fair game. Regardless of skill / ability. Some of those calls were compete BS - enough with the dramatics, paying refs, how about playing the game fairly for once. Sorry, they may have been “good” but certainly not FAIR by any stretch.

Welcome to lax in Maryland-who you are is as important as how you play.

If you think the ref's had anything to do with the final outcome, then you did not see the game. While there where a few calls that were head scratchers, the YJ's got smoked. They only scored 2 goals. I am by no means a fan, as my kid's team has gotten smoked by this team more than a few times, they are very good. The MD coaches' daughter isnt even the best player on that team.

Yes, they tied on Friday, but lost in the Championship game 5-0 on Saturday. This will be a great match for years to come.

Yes. Great matches for years to come- Seems they’ve become top 2 contenders in this age group for now. I haven’t seen another team play like these two. It’s always an intense battle— eventually the tides will turn. And YJ will win. Although, I’m not quite sure Hero’s will handle the loss like the YJ’s have. Again, not a fan of either team, just two cents. Hero’s/YJ-A & MD Black and maybe TG’s? Still early to tell. But my money is on YJ pulling thru the most committed. Never fails

I saw the game. I also saw the game they tied on Friday....YJ-Manning will be a problem for Heroes. And they know it. And their time is coming! Always next year.

Looks like Jesters won Laxin Out Loud. Beat some good teams. Is this a top club in NY?

They also beat YJ Manning at LAX by the Sea in regulation play. Definitely a team to watch.

Swarm is not a yellow jacket team. They are team with a mix of kids from west islip, massapequa etc. They are an independent team with no club affiliation.

They are def a good team for now but not a team that will be looked at in the future. They don't put in the year round that gets the girls better and don't draw top talent due to recruiting like the other clubs. They will lose the serious players.

Top teams are YJ Heros MD Black and maybe Legacy and TG,,, Jesters just doesn't have the name behind it.

What’s the average age of the kids on the team?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2026-5th Grade Fall 2018/Summer 2019 - 07/18/19 07:46 PM
Jesters not top club. Got lucky with a few wins. Most on 2026 Jesters are former Manning YJ’s. Curious to see how many Jesters show up at YJ try outs since they are in August now? I know a handful went to Jesterd - Doesn’t look like it hurt Manning much. Team looked solid yet again this year. The B team will get all the Jesters fleeing a dying club. And this age group will probably add a 3rd team this year. They all come back to YJ.
