ALL the travel teams that play indoor should be playing up at least one year
Majority of the team is from CSH
Is the 5th grade Elevate team made up of 4th graders? They are a travel team.

The only teams I consistently see doing that are YJ. Go to in line 1 and watch TG teams beat up on town teams that are the same age, pathetic to beat a town team like 20-4 .
which is it, yj or tg. you lost me
which is it, yj or tg. you lost me
The only teams I see play up in age on a regular basis are YJ teams especially when playing town teams, I have watched the TG teams playing at in line 1 against town teams in their own age winning games by 20 or more goals although it seems the 2020 TG team actually lost to a town team of equal age.

So....
Really....5th graders playing indoors in December. Who cares....let them play...go home and enjoy the holidays before idiots like you bust their chops until August.
TG @Inline?
Not sure you are watching TG games...there is a town Team that seems to give every TG team a run, even winning most over the Loaded "travel team" regardless of age group.

Actually I was responding to the person who stated they feel travel teams should play up one year when playing against town teams which I agree with. The same way I agree with people who say when people come on websites and call others things like idiots it is usually a sign they are cowards and their children and wives and children are embarrassed of them.If you are too much of a coward to call people such things to their face stop acting like a tough guy and shut up.

Who are the top town teams in your opinion in nassau. Same question goes for suffolk. Ant opinion would be appreciated, remember they are just someones opinion. Please don't rip them a new one. Thx

in nassau pal for the past two years manhasset and huntington have been the two best teams, they tied each other and manhasset beat huntington by one goal in the other meeting. no other losses for either team
are the two teams balanced teams or true A teams?

It looks to be a question of which town teams, not club team.
are the two teams balanced teams or true A teams?
All teams were supposed to be balanced teams up until 5th grade, now PAL gives teams the option of going A or B and placing them in brackets according to the competition. I guess it will be up to each individual club as to how they would like to proceed going forward
If memory serves me correctly Team Smithtown has had success against Manhassett in tournament play all three teams are very capable.
CSH wasnt in the mix or West Islip they play Nassau PAL still?
For Suffolk Girls Lacrosse league, there are a bunch of pretty good teams. But if I had to pick three...it would be Riverhead, Bayport, ESM...in that order.

Riverhead, ESM for sure, don't know if bayport would be before ESM. Don't get caught up in PAL strength, it doesn't translate well to travel capability or to school ball success. The biggest difference in PAL is coaching. One coach can take a team with reasonable talent, coach em up a few offensive and defensive schemes and run buckshot over most of the teams in the age group. Another coach may have a group of girls with better skills and talent and look like road kill at every game becaue of bad coaching. In the case of riverhead I thinkyou got both talent and coaching..
sorry thought I was on the boys thread with the CSH and West Islip. As of last year their boys teams played in Nassau PAL.

Girls. Both clubs have more than one PAL team and one inevitably is better than the others

Girls also play nassau pal, very average teams at best

Does Smithtown play Nassau or Suffolk PAL?
Riverhead had the best team at this age group in last years tournaments however not all girls were from Riverhead. The coach made a couple of phone calls to friends on club teams and filled in his roster . Still a fun team to watch.

I've heard they all do that!
Riverhead, Bayport, ESM is the correct order. Don't know anything about kids from other area, what i do know is that with only 2 or 3 subs it is alot easier to beat a team with 7-15 subs.

West Islip Has two girls teams both balanced with 23+ girls on each team. With that amount of kids average is what you get.
Best Nassau Boys team - Manhasset
Best Suffolk Boys - Huntington
Best Nassau Girls - Toss up Wantagh, Massapequa , Harbor Fields
Best Suffolk Girls - Riverhead
Harbor Fields plays Nassau PAL.
People go crazy when the question is asked who the best 2018 or 2017 teams are. Let the girls play, they are 5th graders!
Some of the best 8th grade Lax girls now were D1 soccer players first and foremost in 5th grade and just started playing lax in 5th grade!

At that age most of the talented girls are not even playing on the town teams anymore. Some PAL teams keep together and can mop up on the rest of what's left to play against, but many of the girls have moved on to travel, school and other tournament teams leaving the fustrations of town ball far behind. I made my older girls stick through the PAL to the end, but will not with my youngest. I'm sure each town is a different story, but anyway you slice it, the competition is way watered down, even the strong teams have many girls who have no ides how to defend or even catch the ball. It is a great introduction league, but the time certainly comes when you need to move on.

in 7th grade other than school ball and summer travel there is nothing else but lisgyll if you want to play in the spring. most girls will continue to play and the weaker players will stay on pal team or stop playing
The oppurtunities of teams, leagues and so on, is so much more developed for soccer than it is for lacrosse. On one side that is a good thing as you can put in some time and hunt down developement opportunities for your daughter that will put her in ahead of the competition. The flip side is you have to put in the time and effort to find the opportunities. Soccer teams on LI and elsewhere are light years ahead with the organization and aggressiveness of developing players. That is sort of the cool thing about lacrosse, in a sport that is growing in popularity nationwide, LI, MD, NJ, PA, MA, VA are leading the way even without the structured backbone that soccer enjoys.

Should be a good summer travel season. Looking forward to YJ A vs TG A matchup.
that was the purple team which carries a lot of 4th graders. The 2020 Black play in a 5th and 6th grade division and are winning by large margins.

Agreed but will probably never get to see the matchup, seems to be the way it is.

Ask your program director to arrange both teams showing up at the Lacrosse-By-3 Summer Tournament on July 5th/6th or the Long Island Beach Bums Fourth Annual Babylon LAX Blast on July 13th. Both tournaments would be more than happy to schedule a friendly between the Top Guns 2020 and Yellow Jackets 2020 teams.

not going to happen - national draw they will be in the same bracket as 2019's (and the 2021's who really have no business leaving long island) and ASE is a showcase that is controlled by cr - both tournaments saw a lot scheduling changes last summer less than a week before the were played in an effort to avoid tg (who granted has everything to gain and nothing to loss) at ASE half of the yj games were against other yj teams, they could have stayed home and done that at mitchell field the following week and saved a lot of time, travel and money

The 2020 TG team is brand new as TG starts at later age than YJs. Some of the girls have played together in oddball fall tournaments and some of the girls are playing together in a winter league, but they have yet to played together officially at all. Practice sessions begin in the fall where they will come together and basically get going as a team. So I haven't even seen the 2020 TG team play yet and my daughter is on it! Compare whatever you may have seen if you like, but it would seem very much premature at this point.

Your funny, your TG 2016 team and your 2019 had the chance to play YJ and did not want to.Granted the 2019 age would have been a scrimmage but still could have at least competed against one another but the TG coaches wanted nothing to do with it, ask them why? If they wanted to play YJ teams then enter them into a tournament that has predominantly YJ teams such as the elite showcase. If either of the clubs had a burning desire to play against one another it would be easy.Look at the other teams schedule then enter your team into those tournaments especially the championship tournaments. Both teams seem to avoid playing one another but eventually will.

if you're paying any attention at all you would know that is not the case, several schedules were changed at the last minute last summer so yj wouldn't have to play tg teams, as was said earlier nothing good can come of it for yj so why risk exposing themseleves unless they're certain that they can win. yj has 13 teams in the 2019-2021 age group and none of them played against a tg team last year, do you really think that was a coincidence, last year there were plenty of yj parents complaining about traveling to ASE to play most of there games against other yj teams, i guess that is the downside of having 4-5 elite teams in each age group - there's no one to play but yourseives!

Last year it was the most ridiculous thing, both clubs at several tournaments and there is no doubt match ups were avoided. It must actually have been a pain in the a$$ for tournament directors to schedule around what are clearly club directors wishes. If I were a club director I would demand that none of my club teams play each other in pool play instead of avoiding competition. Drive 5 hours in traffic, spend two days in hotels to see game after game of YJ teams Playing YJ teams. You can do that for free at home, it really is a joke.

CR brings 30 teams and $50,000+ to any given tournament, don't you think that should buy her a little special treatment?

In many tournaments there s always the chance the teams meet in the finals. Now if TG could just get there we would see the match up!

First of all, no. Second, as the poster above said, why would all the YJ teams (and the parents who are spending the money) want to play each other all the time. What's the harm in kids losing a few games to somebody else? It builds character and teaches life lessons. They won't be prepared to handle HS and (hopefully) college losses later on.
Results from the Jnuary 27th action in the Long Island Sports Hub's Girls Fifth Grade bracket.
Manhasset edges Red Hots, 11-10
Syosset over Huntington Village, 17-13
Northport and Team Elevate Draw, 13-13
Standings After Week Seven

Elevate 5th 7 6 0 1 103 80 19 23

Red Hots 7 1 6 0 82 110 3 -28
Interesting bracket in this age group at the Sports Hub - while the records are spread across the board, the goal differentials considering seven games are now in the books are surprisingly narrow - a good indicator for competitive games being offered.

if you're paying any attention at all you would know that is not the case, several schedules were changed at the last minute last summer so yj wouldn't have to play tg teams, as was said earlier nothing good can come of it for yj so why risk exposing themseleves unless they're certain that they can win. yj has 13 teams in the 2019-2021 age group and none of them played against a tg team last year, do you really think that was a coincidence, last year there were plenty of yj parents complaining about traveling to ASE to play most of there games against other yj teams, i guess that is the downside of having 4-5 elite teams in each age group - there's no one to play but yourseives!
Please tell us the schedules that were changed ,the only schedule change I remember actually put YJ against TG at the 2018 age, so stop with the b.s..Feel free to approach your TG 2019 coach and ask him if YJ 2019 asked to play anytime, anywhere and why they refused. If you were paying attention at all the last 3 years you would realize TG have never had a team win a competitive tournament. How did your TG team do playing YJ this past weekend at the sports hub.Could be wrong but was not very competitive. You top guns keep winning most of your games against town teams in your own age group so you can tell each other how good you are.
This Fall down at Annapolis the YJ 2015 team was scheduled to play TG 2015 team. I was dissapointed when I arrived to see TG playing a MD team instead. All the parents can cry all they want on this site, but the facts are the two programs will continue to avoid each other untill the parents insist on playing each other by calling the powers that be and make it happen! Can we please now get back to talking about 2020 girls like this thread is for!!

apparently you have a reading comprehension issue, it's been all over BOTC since last summer and currently has been sighted several times as well - National Draw and ASE were both dramatically changed at the last minute - FACT. Pour yourself a big glass of yj koolade and start scrolling through BOTC. You will also notice that YJ parents were livid that at ASE that they were playing at least two , if not three of their four games againsy other yj teams - FACT. it's ok, you get to play in 2-3 one day tournaments against town teams and play yourselves at ND and ASE - time and money well spent! babylon blast champions!

Again you have a problem naming the changes, do you believe everything you read on BOC , if that is the case you must have a low opinion of TG as I have read many negative remarks in regard to them. The only facts that you can prove are that not a single TG team has ever won a competitive tournament , feel free to go back and look it up it has been all over BOC for months so it must be true. That being said I think that comes to an end this season with one of your younger teams. Stop believing all the nonsense you read.

If you're talking about 2020 (which this thread is) you can find many of them playing up in 6th grade division at HUB. That's what travel players should do in a town league.

Nevermid the koolaid, that's a lot of hatorade against 10 year olds.
I did not make the quote above, but I decided to chime in. The post is not "hatorade" against 10 year olds. It is directed at the "directors" who have adjusted the schedules in the tournaments. Pretty clear.

Just a quick note the Top Guns 2020 Black and Purple teams are playing winter ball at Inline 1 in Mt Sinai. They are playing in a 5/6 division with games against both age groups. The black 2020 team has not lost a game so far (knock on wood).
Can we please keep this thread to 2020 girls and take the other age groups to the other threads!!

Curious which 6th grade teams have you played my guess you were put in a weaker division and not playing the better 6th grade teams. It would not be TG style to have a team play up in age against the best competition.

That is the problem with winter leagues. You enter a team in a multiple grade division with no knowledge of who the competition is. Maybe next year TG will try a different location like the Sports Hub. I heard there are some better teams playing there.

The Hub is a competitive league and the facility is outstanding.
Facility at the hub is ok, not outstanding. Parking is an issue, many thefts from cars outside. Fields play 9v9 but are still narrow, better suited for 7v7. Teams are ok not superb. Look at MS division results. How about just using indoor time to work on skills and scrimmage each other??

The Hub facility is an outstanding indoor destination particularly when compared with other options. We would be interested in your definition of "many thefts" since there do not seem to be police reports from Syosset supporting your view.
This discussion thread is talking about the 2020 bracket, not the Middle School competition. Can we stay on topic regarding the age group being discussed?
As for using the Hub for indoor skills training, that is completely possible - call them for indoor rental times. That is not a substitute for the games, but would a great option for your team to pursue group training.

$300/hour
Grand larceny; auto stolen Dec. 8th. Have heard of other items being taken from cars. Understand this is a thread on 2020 however, was resoponging to a comment on how "outstanding" a facility the hub was, simply pointing out facts that would deter me from using the word outstanding. Again it is nice, but not outstanding. Comment also made on "better" competition there so was simply pointing out looking at MS division not so sure it is the place to play for the best as the original poster was stating.

Not loving the Hub either. I know of no crimes <knock wood>, and the facility is so new it has "new building" smell, but the fields are too small for 9v9. The parking is bad, the spaces are so small anything bigger than a mid-size is on, or over, the line. That said, there is not one indoor facility I actually like. They are a necessary winter evil. At least the Hub has the heat on, unlike Southbay where I really don't think they keep their thermostat above 40. Sorry, 2020, for the threadjack.

Gotta love the St Anthony's feild house. We have indoor league games there and it is incredible. (Not 2020, sorry)
Perfect example of parents having a totally different perspective. Ask your daughter how she likes playing a the hub. Ask the caches who have teams playing in the hub how they like it. The facility is awesome. Is the parking tight - yes it is. However, please name a better facility that is more centrally located.

Centrally located to whom? Not me, not my daughter's team. Not anyone east of 110. I'd rather play at that facility right of Northern State (Center Island?) or the place in Sayville that used to be called ISA.
My daughter is the one who doesn't like the field size. She said, and I'm paraphrasing, that there are so many girls on the field it's next to impossible to get open for the goalie to pass the ball out. Everyone's on top of each other and it would be easier if fewer players were on the field.
Just an observation here, last year it was the 2019 thread that was super active and had parents making self crowniing statements for their team/club. This year the 2020 thread seems to be starting off quite active. The chippynesss seems to wear off with each grade you go up. Just a word of advice for parents of 2020's, keep the emotions in check. This age group is comprised of a roster that will undergo a fair amount of change over the next couple years untill things settle in. The threads are great to share thoughts and ideas, but the chest pounding at this age is way premature.
