The Governor Hugh L. Carey Empire State Games will be returning this summer. The events will be hosted in Rochester, New [lacrosse] from July 24ht-28th, 2013. After several years of weak support due to New [lacrosse] State's budgets woes, this news should be cheered by all of New [lacrosse]'s Scholastic Athletes.

The Empire State Games is New [lacrosse] State’s premier Olympic-style amateur athletic event. First held on the campus of Syracuse University in 1978, it is the oldest of 37 state-level competitions in the nation. Drawing the best athletes from each of the six regions across the state – Western, Central, Adirondack, Hudson Valley, New [lacrosse] City and Long Island.

A. Scholastic Division

Maximum Age: An Applicant must be age 17 or younger as of August 31st in the year the summer games are held.

Minimum Age: In the following contact sports an applicant also must be age 13 as of April 30th in the year the summer games are held; baseball, basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, judo, lacrosse, soccer, softball, volleyball and wrestling.
