At what age should girls who enjoy lacrosse join a club team? What if they want something more competitive than rec lacrosse.

No 4th grade girl is asking their parents to play more competitive lacrosse and if they are asking about club it's because their friends are doing it or the so called cool kids. This is strictly a parent decision.

Then let them try out for a club team if it is within the family means and something they want to do. Don't listen to the cheapo parents who couldn't shoot the lock off Mommy's purse to let their daughter play. Do whatever you and your daughter thinks is best.

And a very few have older sisters. But, this is just too stupid for parents. I bet most of these parents do no realize what it's like for the girls during the summer tournaments. Enjoy paying for therapy later people. I have two older daughters in club and was shocked to see a forum heading for 2025 AKA 4th graders.

On the boy side most boys do this from 5th grade tell 8th grade for sure. The travel teams on the boys side mostly play on Sundays. I am guessing the girls should follow the same model.

if your club allows the kids to play rec then do it, but most clubs would prefer that the kids do not play rec. Remember club practices/games comes first. Also if you register for a rec program check their refund policy, some will not give a refund after a certain date.

What are you talking about? Hardly any boys play rec lacrosse after 5th grade anymoreif they are playing club. Most clubs play in the Saturday and Sunday spring leagues and the ones that don't practice on Saturdays. There's a reason there are any MYLA teams in the Juniors and Midgets age groups. Lightning is dwindling as well.

That's the million dollar question. Most people would say YJ because the 2025 coach is also the coach of Stonybrook girls, a top 10 program. But he never comes to practice or games so discount that.

My daughter is new to the YJ 25 team and the coach (SB) has been to every function and held a parent meeting stating goals and expectations (helps w his daughter on team ) Every practice has had SB players there, it has been incredible for my daughter as well as the others. Should be a fun summer. Good luck

My daughter plays for HoCo (different age group) and we've been very happy with the program.

Don't just leave for Hero's but the good ones all eventually do leave.

interesting to see some clubs don't have enough kids for a 2025 team. Diamonds and Check Her's both have combo 24-25 teams.

Pretty broad statement that all the good ones eventually leave. EVERY program has girls that leave for various reasons. We are talking about 4th graders, let's enjoy their love of the game for now.

Looks like a battle at the top of the NGLL 2025 division.

Hero's undefeated
M&D with zero losses and 1 tie
HOCO with 1 lose (via Hero's)
Bethesda with 1 lose (via M&D)

This should be interesting.

Hero's doesn't play M&D till the last game of the season. Wonder if this was setup on purpose?

Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2025 -
I am a parent who has a daughter on the Hero's '25 team & I'm embarrassed to read what someone recently wrote about our team in this thread. Trust me when I say that the overwhelming majority of our parents do not feel that way. Yes our team is talented & fun to watch, but they can certainly lose on any given day. This division is full of 3rd & 4th graders who can play as inconsistent as the upcoming 5 day weather forecast. They may want to focus more on their grammar & less about how our team is performing on the field.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2025 -
Agree with the above statement! Should be a good matchup this weekend: Heros vs M&D

Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2025 -
Great weekend of lacrosse in the 2025 division!

Saturday's games were good. Bethesda vs Heros was exciting. Bethesda ran out of gas and Hero's turned it on late! Love the Bethesda goalie, super aggressive and mad some tremendous saves to keep them in the game. Just not enough firepower.

HOCO vs MND. Great game that came down to the wire, HOCO had ball at 8 meter but got stopped and lost possession, or it's going into sudden death.

The final was outstanding. Both teams brought their A game. Biggest lead was 2 goals. MND was able to tie game, take the lead and then run out the clock. Both teams gave it 100%.

The future looks good. Very interesting to watch this division as they get older. Lots of skill at such a young age.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2025 -
I agree with the above statement. Instead of trash talking let's celebrate how hard these girls played this weekend and how wonderful it is to see an exciting game (especially for 10 yr olds)

That can only happen if you take Hero's parents out of the equation....at any age group.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2025 -
The championship game was an incredible game for any lax fan to watch, it's amazing how talented these girls are in 3rd/4th grade!! M&D really impressed me by being able to retain possession & keep passing for roughly the final 4-5 minutes of the game, that's not normal for this age group. These girls will be a lot of fun to watch moving forward as they develop & the teams get "settled," all 3 of the games were 1 goal games (just like 90% of the games this weekend in all age groups). I was happy to be there to watch this game and other games while waiting for my daughters team to play.

The only negative I drew from this game was how obnoxious a few of the M&D parents were in general as they questioned the official on every call against their team. I woke up in a cold sweat at 2am this morning due to that lady's shrieking voice, she was yelling as if this was an NCAA Finals game. She said nothing negative at all, she was just way too loud for any age group below college. I was hoping she would quiet down after the game, but unfortunately all of us on the lower field had to keep hearing her tell everyone how great their team is for another 10-15 minutes after the game was over & they received their shirts (right near us as we watched our game).

For any parent of a 2025 player (even M&D parents!!!), I hope Mr. Robinson or the head coach gets her to tone it down a bit.

All the best to this division, their players, coaches & parents.

How did everyone do at playday on Saturday.

Here's the Impulse Lax records

Skywalkers: 3-0
Redshirts: 1-2
LBC: 1-2
M&D 1-2

Do anyone have College Park Playday?

Laxin' Out Loud was a fun tournament to watch, great games & all around competition. YJ has a strong team in this age group, it was nice to see how they compared to our MD teams.
Both of the M&D v Heros games were exciting & fun to watch, everyone was on the edge of their seats until the very end.
ALL of the 2025 teams will be a lot of fun to watch next weekend in Jersey- I can't wait to see how it plays out.

Yj lost in the semis and blame it on the reffings. Same old story.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2025 -
YJ need to blame their boys lacrosse style of play, not the refs. Checks to the hands and charges will get called. Talented team no doubt, but their coach is doing a disservice by encouraging penalties ... And by coach I mean all 30 of them, including the ones on the opposite sideline.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2025 -
Very true! I believe that the YJ coach got a yellow card during a game last weekend because they commended their player for a 'good foul.' The coaching staff appears to be clueless on the rules, I sincerely hope that no player gets injured because of their unnecessary & overaggressive style of play that the coaches encourage. YJ players checking the bottom end of the shaft was observed several times over the weekend, nothing good can come from this foul.

YJ is no doubt a very talented group of girls, they just need a coaches who respect the game & teaches the girls how to play within the rules.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Girls 2025 -
L4C as always was a good tournament. M&D and Hero's faced off 2 times each winning 1 with M&D winning in the championship. It would have been nice to see the starting goalie for Hero's in the finals (But hey, it's summer and they are 10). This is the start of a good rivalry and it will be fun to watch the next 6 years.

Season is coming to an end shortly. Some clubs have finished, and some clubs still have 1 or 2 tourneys left. Tryouts are in August. Do we see a lot of new girls coming out for tryouts, some girls held back, some girls dropping to 2026 and some girls changing clubs? should be interesting to see what the teams look like next year?

Great season for the 2025s!! Seems like Heros and MND battled at every tourney final, splitting the 4 finals! Should see some changes next year, and most likely an infusion of more girls trying out.

Plenty of good times to be had at the beach or the pool - give your 10 year old a month off, will benefit her both mentally and physically.

Any major changes with players flipping clubs? How about Heros? Didn't they have a lot of 2026s playing up on the 2025 green team? How will that impact 2025 team? Will MND get stronger the second year? Their 2024 team went the whole year with only 1 loss in their second year.
