"I think that the competitiveness and level of talent at the tryouts was a gauntlet that the players who made the team had to survive and show their absolute best," Tim Flynn, head coach of the U.S. men's U19 team said. "Because of that, the team assembled is one that is tough, diverse and talented."

"The seven sessions over the four days of tryouts were absolutely inspiring," Nathaniel Badder, US Lacrosse Director of National Teams said. "We brought in a truly national pool of players, coaches, and evaluators, and the competition on the field was off the charts. And, through a fair and efficient process, picked a team that we believe is capable of defending the gold medal at the 2012 FIL U19 World Championship in Finland next summer."

The team boasts one of the most geographically diverse rosters in U.S. men's national team history, with players from eight states, including two from Colorado and one from California.

Two players have direct ties to the U.S. national team program. Midfielder Ryan Tucker's father, John, was a three-time world champion (1986, 1990 and 1994) on the U.S. men's senior team and also served as an assistant coach for the 2003 U.S U19 team that won a gold medal. Goalie Kyle Turri's older brother, Justin, was a member of the 2008 U.S. U19 team that won the world championship.
