You just confirmed what we all thought. The kids are 10 playing against 8/9 yo lol. Not one kid was 10 last spring or this fall in LI. They likely turned 10 December and through 2023. In fact many have spring and summer birthdays so you’re playing with kids that at 6 months - 1 Year younger.
End of day that’s why they are starting this new rule in USA lacrosse. Won’t be able to play if your kid was born before Sept
