All of you crying about holdbacks sound worse than the very few parents who support it. Life isn't fair. Adjust and move on. The kids will be stronger for it.

Holdbacks take roster spots and time on the field away from on age kids, that’s the problem. Some kids will never have the chance to “get stronger” because they are being blocked. Take a look at the top ranked kids and, more often than not, they are on the older side. It’s a clear advantage. It’s not even really debatable and I don’t blame parents for doing it. I’ve seen it with my older son, on his 91 team two kids dropped down right before they entered 9th grade, one’s going to Harvard, the other Michigan. It worked. The two starters they replaced weren’t quite as happy.
