You are trying to make us believe that the academic and athletics gap between the two schools is so great that he needed to repeat 8th grade?

#1 is a very smart kid and is class president at McD. If you meet him, you can tell that "all cylinders are firing." I have a hard time believing such a gap existed in his case.

Own it. "We held #1 back, as the rules allow, because it was the difference between being the #38 recruit and the #1 recruit - the difference being "very talented" and "dominant." Top recruits are "dominant." We learned from that experience and started #2 a year late, as the rules allow, and he's showing just as much talent if not more, and is a likely top 10 recruit in his own class."

All of those things are true, why not just go there. Nobody (who matters) really objects. As others have noted, the elite 11th grade club teams are nearly all holdbacks. It's not a coincidence and it's very much allowed (for now). Even if the rules change, these decisions were made by the Millon family based on the rules at the time. Why make excuses for the guy?

Totally took advantage of the the system, to get his kid advantages! He’s not the only one, can’t wait for rules to change at the youth level. It will Even up the playing fields at the youth level and give on age lower and middle class kids a fair chance to develop. It will make it more fair for families who can not afford to “game” the system!
