I do not know a single Women’s Studies major currently playing DI women’s lacrosse (I currently have 2 in college at top 10-20 programs). STEM is not the end all be all and not every student wants a specialized major. There are Many very successful people who majored in everything from engineering to political science. I know engineering majors at top 10 lacrosse/academic schools and know somewhat recent grads who have gone to Med School and are now MD’s.
Nobody said it would easy, but it can be done.
