Undersized now or will always be undersized? If the objective is to play in college (not saying scholarship) then don't lose sleep on him being undersized for another couple years. With the new rule, you have plenty of time starting in 9th grade and, more realistically, 10th grade to get him exposed to college coaches. For the time being have him do what he is doing. As the previous poster stated, it doesn't hurt to have him play other sports if he is not already. College coaches like that. Most important since the kids in 7th grade. tell him good grades are as important as good lacrosse.

Well said. Multiple sports, good grades, and hit the lax wall. There are plenty of smaller guys playing D1. Speed is just as important as size in Lax.

Speed, athleticism, IQ , skill, strength, attitude, motor etc.. all much more important than size. Not sure about the "early recruiting geniuses" but I know a few of the old school guys ask their assistants one question before they make an offer "Can he play?" Bottom line, they take all sizes if "they can play".

Good luck to your son. Work on strength which will improve speed. Develop skill and IQ. Hit the wall and shoot. Watch college games. Find a good strength coach or training facility that understands how to work with athletes not bodybuilders. When watching games have him watch the players that do not have the ball and the defenders who are not playing the ball.
