Garden City does'nt really have much of a youth program. They play parent-coached PAL like everyone else then go play club lacrosse when they are in 4th grade and are trained by the club teams. The HS team dominates the class B scene in NYS. If they played class A from March to June they would not be as dominant, but still one of the top teams.

Anybody who does not see that there is a great relationship between GC and the yellow Jackets that benefits both groups is blind. The kids and parents from GC are some of best around.

I don't think thats true at all. First not every P.A.l. org is the same , some are good and some are not as good, but what they are supposed to do is teach the fundamentals, obviously G.C. does that vey well because they have a long history of lax and many people return to G.C. and in turn , teach them to the younger generation. Not every parent thinks it a good idea to thrust there child into club ball at 8 years old, and 1 or 2 practices a week are nice , but that will not build a team like G.C. I think it's the other way around Clubs rely on schools and parents to make better players , and clubs just showcase them. And lastly, you don't really think that a school with a couple of hundred more kids is really making a difference do you. Do you really think Farmingdale or Northport could stop G.C. if they bumped up to div. A. if you do than your crazy.

Parents (like you) are the clubs worse nightmare if they do more than write a check, and I'll repeat since you seem learning impaired: GC has no special youth lax program. They play PAL then they realize they are not learning well so they go to the club teams in 4th or 5th grade which is where they learn lacrosse. Ask any one of their HS players where they learned how to play and 99% will not say from GC Youth PAL, and very few girls learned from their parents (many of the GC parents dont know the rules or have learned them from sitting in their beach chairs) why isn't there GC based equivalent of YJ or Liberty ? fl$ may be building one but If you are a girls youth standout lax player you are not playing for a GC based program as your main focus, because there is'nt one available except PAL. So when you say GC has the best "program" what exactly are you talking about ?

Garden City benefits from a high salary per capita. They are a rare district where most everyone there can afford the crazy cost of paying for the yellow jacket program with all the tuition fees, tournament costs training camps etc...... Add it all up, it is thousands of dollars per year. Sad part is it is nearly impossible to be competitive on the elite level unless you also belong to an elite club for training and exposure to other elite clubs. And exposure to school ball "ain't" the same thing.

The boy's lacrosse clubs crossing over to girl's never works out. They see the oppurtunity to make $, hire said women coach to head it up, but it never seems to work out for any of them.

Are you from Garden City because if your not , your are speaking way out of turn . You must be from Northport because you seem really sensitive about this.

the history of Long Island lax Is simple . First Long Island team was Manhassett, second was Garden City. For many years they were the only 2, hence the Wood Stick Classic. They played each other when Northport was still a 3 block fishing town. Secondly Carol Rose is a product of Manhasset High School, so what your really saying is that all girls lax cut there teeth at the feet of Manhasset.

Why don't the Yellow Jackets participate in any of the local leagues, particularly in the developmental age groups from fourth to sixth grade? It would seem that playing a weekly game along with Spring training would allow for better development as opposed to just doing tournaments.

Garden City is a very prestigious program. They have won many state championships and have girls at top D1 colleges, however, I think this year things will be different. They lost a great of talent and not many to fill there places. Only a few have committed to colleges, unlike many of the other teams.

They do participate in local leagues. It is up to the coaches or parent admin's of each team to see if there is enough interest to play in local winter and fall leagues. It has become year round experience for some YJ teams. A lot of these girls play multiple sports and cant always commit. So some of the players get the extra playing time with there teammates. smile

WHY IS THE 2017 YJ PARTICIPATING IN A HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR LEAGUE ? IS THAT A YJ CRITERIA OR JUST A STUPID UNEDUCATED COACHES IDEA?

Current GC players have committed/accepted to play lacrosse at the followings D1 schools: Penn, Princeton, Hopkins, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, Georgetown, Siena, Richmond, Fairfield, Quinnipiac... many have still not finalized their college decision... so much for a down year.

Figures gotta add other travel programs, yes I see top guns 2017
But allstars is the older group.
And by the way don't get your man pantys all up in a bunch when someone
Questions about why are they Playing up that much of a age barrier
I gather your the coach which is without a doubt not
Qualified enough to have common sense . It's not all about
Image and power tripping ! Especially when that team is a c
Team in disguise as a b just to make you and the parents happy.. Like it or not. That's the fact.

My daughters team played against a 2016 yellow jacket team today which was the first time we played any of their teams. I wanted to just say they were a very well coached, well behaved group of players. there are times when their teams get a bad rap on this forum and I just wanted to congratulate the YJ Defeo team on their great showing today

we also played a 2016 yj team at t3 today , in talking to one of their parents it was one of their blue teams who split up one group in middle school division the other in high school b division. Both teams won their age groups , they seemed to be very skilled but I would say not overly coached. by overly coached I mean very few set playsvjust seem to let them play and figure it out on their own. They had no subs so small fields definitely helped

This has to be one of the funniest posts in the world. Yellow Jackets service is "so community friendly" that the question gets asked here on BOTC - kinda tells you where the real action is. LOL.

Not that I'm recommending or poo pooing this camp, I don't know to much about it. I will say it is very nice to sometimes get away from your own clubs coaches, teammates, camps and clinics and venture out to different coaches and different players to have your daughter interact with. A lot can be learned from a different approach or different perspective.

I once read a comment from a Jacket parent , basically berating and making fun of a parent because he had the audacity to bring his daughter to multiple teams tryouts. When pressed the demonized parent allocated that he did it because his daughter might make friends , and learn different philosophies from other clubs and coaches. So to now see what i assume is a different Jacket parent saying that same, just accentuates the hypocrisy so rampant in the Yellow Jacket Organization

L.I. Blue Chip

Nice shameless plug.
Not that I'm recommending or poo pooing this camp, I don't know to much about it. I will say it is ed from a different approach or different perspective.
I once read a comment from a Jacket parent , basically berating and making fun of a parent because he had the audacity to bring his daughter to multiple teams tryouts. When pressed the demonized parent allocated that he did it because his daughter might make friends , and learn different philosophies from other clubs and coaches. So to now see what i assume is a different Jacket parent saying that same, just accentuates the hypocrisy so rampant in the Yellow Jacket Organization
. What!! 2 people have different opinions!! That's crazy, impossible!! Please!
it is crazy if you take into account that your a yellow jacket drone, doesn't Carol tell all you idiots what to think, other wise she might replace you with some one that will
. Wow someone is really bitter. I know what to say and think that's why my kid plays for the best program out there not the second rate program you play for.

"The best program out there" is really a matter of opinion. If you want to say that the Yellow Jackets are the most successful program within the context of wins and losses, then most would agree that you are correct. But that doesn't make it the best
For my daughter , being taught by one of the best female players to ever play the game goes way beyond winning only. Though Carol Rose was a very good player, she never reached the level that some of her players have. that makes her a very good coach. but not much more .
I'm glad you are very happy with your club , but on the cusp of a new year, bravado is just talk from people that don't even pick up a stick and play the game, and most never did and should probably keep there opinion to themselves.
lets let the season play out , because the start of every year brings an opportunity for teams that lagged behind last year to catch and maybe exceed last years victor.

a very good coach that taught your best player in the country to play...but i'm sure you will all find a reason why she had nothing to do with how successful your best player in the country has become. She's modeling her program right after CR.
