One of the teams that was referred to me by a friend is the Long Island Wave, headed by Joe Fanning. (Long Island Wave)

Does anyone have experience with this club? The reputation and reports were very positive, but we wanted to check this out with the board readers.

I heard Joe Fanning hand picks the wave teams himself and they dont have tryouts.
Is this true?

How about a thread about Team 91? The tryouts had the biggest turnouts on Long Island with over 100 kids in eacg age group 4th grade through HS. The summer will be telling but there has been a lot of buzz about this team. I hope the buss is right b/c we left an Express Central team to find out... Thoughts anyone? I hope that the kides who tried out stick with the program . If so, looks to be a great team.

Why not just calling Joe and asking? BOTC should be talking to the Wave program to find out more.

The Wave web site is interesting - states that there are no tryouts for 2013-2016 since once a team is put together, there are no open positions unless someone leaves. This is interesting to us since it puts the decision making completely in the hands of the parents as to whether the program is sufficiently competitive. Also noticed that they had 2017 tryouts, but who knew about them? Our family was watching for anything on this site, but it was over before we knew it was happening.

I disagree with that Statement!! I think you need to take your head out of the clouds. If they were top notch they would all be on varsity and starting.

since when does "starting on varsity" have an impact on whether or not they are a solid team. have you seen them play? they are pretty darn good! i know for a fact some of the other top clubs kids are not on varsity and do not all see the field.
