Newsday takes a look at the top 100 high school boys lacrosse players on Long Island heading into the 2014 season, listed in alphabetical order.

TYLER ANDERSON
Shoreham-Wading River, D, Senior
At 6-2, 205 pounds, he's strong one-on-one and quick when getting to loose balls. Committed to Stony Brook.

BILLY ANDRLE
East Meadow, D, Senior
Has a menacing presence and will go to Marist.

GERARD ARCERI
Smithtown East, M, Sophomore
Emerged as a dominant faceoff guy last season and became Penn State's first reported 2016 commit.

MICHAEL ARONOW
Sachem North, D, Senior
A fixture at lacrosse showcases for the past couple years. One of the top defenders in the country. Headed to Penn State.

CRAIG BERGE
Massapequa, M, Senior
The future Georgetown player had 21 goals and 43 assists last season and is widely considered Nassau's top midfielder.

LIAM BLOHM
Syosset, D, Senior
Always defends the opponent's top scorer, and for good reason. He's headed to Ohio State.

DAN BOCKELMAN
Half Hollow Hills East, A, Senior
The Cornell-commit had 36 goals and 21 assists.

SAM BONAFEDE
Chaminade, M, Senior
Could be the fastest player on Long Island. Will take his array of skills to Princeton.

MATT BORGES
Garden City, D, Senior
Committed to Ohio State. Disrupts offenses with good stick skills and a knack for getting groundballs.

BENNY BORGOGNONE
Manhasset, D, Senior
An aggressive player with great off-ball communication skills. Committed to Fairfield.

EDDIE BOUHALL
Lynbrook, D, Junior
Committed to Lehigh. Key returning starter from last season where he excelled as a sophomore. Can cover opposing attackers or middies.

RYAN BRAY
Shoreham-Wading River, A, Junior
Had 79 points last season and was a presence as an underclassman for championship teams. Committed to Ohio State.

DAN BUCARO
Ward Melville, A, Junior
He had 57 goals and 30 assists as the Patriots finished undefeated and won a state championship last year. Committed to Georgetown.

JAMES BYRNS
Massapequa, A, Senior
A very creative scorer (61 goals last season) who is headed to Quinnipiac.

KYLE CAIN
Wantagh, A, Senior
An adept finisher and feeder (33 goals, 26 assists in 2013). Headed to St. John's.

MICHAEL CALVAGNA
Sachem North, M, Senior
An exceptional faceoff specialist who is bound for Stony Brook.

BRIAN CANNON
Northport, A, Senior
He scored 48 goals and added 38 assists last season. The dynamic scorer is headed to North Carolina.

NICK CAPUANA
Massapequa, D, Senior
Made a name for himself defending some of the best in a powerful conference. Committed to Towson.

J.T. CAPUTO
St. Anthony's, M, Senior
A savvy playmaker who will go to Princeton.

JOE CARIDI
Sachem North, A, Senior
The Stony Brook-bound standout racked up 62 points in 2013.

BLAKE CARRARA
Riverhead, M, Sophomore
The longstick midfielder was named Suffolk rookie of the year. Committed to Maryland.

SEAN CERRONE
Chaminade, M, Senior
Could help the Flyers capture a second straight state title. A great scorer and passer who is headed to Villanova.

ALEX CONCANNON
Syosset, A, Junior
A Johns Hopkins early commit who is prime for even more production this season.

JACK CONCANNON
St. Anthony's, G, Senior
Emerged in the state final last season and is one of the Island's best between the pipes. Headed to Hofstra.

JOHN DANIGGELIS
Smithtown East, M, Junior
A tremendous two-way talent playing in a deep division. Committed to Yale.

JASON DEBENEDICTIS
Sachem East, A, Senior
A four-year starter who racked up 45 points last season. Headed to St. John's.

DAN DOLAN
Garden City, G, Senior
One of Nassau's steadiest net-minders. Will make stops for UMass next.

TYLER DUNN
Manhasset, A, Junior
Can dodge and finish with the best of them. Could have a big season.
BRENDAN DONNELLY
Comsewogue, A, Senior
Racked up 31 goals and 32 assists last season.

JAMES FARRELL
Manhasset, M, Senior
A special player with a high lacrosse IQ. Will go to the University of Pennsylvania.

NICKY FERRERO
Port Washington, G, Sophomore
Still young, but considered by many to be one of the county's best stoppers. Started since he was in eighth grade. Verbally committed to UMass.

MALCOLM FLYNN
Half Hollow Hills West, D, Junior
A four-year starter who committed to St. John's.

JJ FOLEY
Smithtown West, D, Senior
One of the Bulls' trio of starting D-I defensemen. Headed to Lehigh.

JOEY FROCCARO
Port Washington, M, Junior
A top-flight scorer and faceoff guy, will follow his brothers' footsteps toward Princeton.

KEVIN FUCHS
Hewlett, M, Senior
The Binghamton commit will likely exceed his 27 goals from last season.

EVAN GAGNE
Westhampton, A, Senior

The agile scorer known for a great outside shot will head to Fairfield.
GREG GALLIGAN
St. Anthony's, M, Senior
One of the Island's most heralded midfielders. Georgetown will enjoy his services.

MATT GAVIN
Manhasset, A, Sophomore
The lefty finisher scored 40 goals last season -- as a freshman. Verbally committed to Duke.

CODY GEORGE
Garden City, A/M, Senior
The 5-foot-8 attack could lead the Trojans to another county title. Scored 38 goals last season and is headed to Dartmouth.

LOGAN GRECO
Smithtown West, D, Senior
A physical, strong, big-bodied presence who is bound for Virgina.

JOE GROSSI
Lynbrook, M, Senior
Headed to Binghamton. Off to a fast start with 14 goals this season.

BRETT HALL
Northport, D, Senior
The 6-3 Towson commit has the speed to defend smaller, quick players.

DYLAN HARNED
Middle Country, M, Senior
A two-way player with effective dodging skills. Will play at Division II powerhouse LIU Post.

CORTLAND HENEVELD
East Hampton, M, Senior
The Navy commit is a big presence (6-3, 205 pounds) who causes turnovers and makes plays.

AUSTIN HENNINGSEN
Northport, M, Junior
A faceoff stalwart who is committed to Maryland.

JIMMY HOFFMAN
Sachem North, M, Senior
Came into his own last year and is now headed to West Point.

MATT ISNARDI
Chaminade, G, Senior
The Army-bound goalkeeper should play a big role for the Flyers this season.

BRENDAN KAVANAGH
Kellenberg, A, Senior
The lefty is a good dodger and sees the field very well. Committed to Hofstra.

RYAN KEENAN
Smithtown West, A, Senior
Few high school players in the country can create scoring opportunities and finish better than this Penn State commit.

IAN KIRBY
Massapequa, A, Senior
Three-year starter and leader of team's attack with 28 goals last season. Headed to Towson.

BEN KOCIS
Huntington, M, Senior
A big-time player with all the tools. Committed to Binghamton.

JACK KORBER
Massapequa, M, Senior
A defensive midfielder with a motor that doesn't stop. Headed to Marist.

BRIAN LANG
Hicksville, M, Junior
Transferred from Holy Trinity. A big-time scorer and Ohio State commit.

IAN LAVIANO
Cold Spring Harbor, A, Freshman
Had 35 points as an eighth-grader. Verbally committed to Virginia.

MICHAEL LAVIANO
St. Anthony's, A, Junior
The Ohio State commit will give the Friars a boost coming back from an injury.

JOE MADSEN
Locust Valley, A, Sophomore
The right-handed twin with a knack for creative scoring who is committed to St. John's.

MIKE MADSEN
Locust Valley, A, Sophomore
The left-handed twin with a knack for creative scoring who is committed to St. John's.

CARNEY MAHON
Chaminade, M, Senior
An exceptional playmaker who is headed to Harvard.

KYLE MATHIE
Smithtown West, D, Senior
The 6-2, 190-pound standout headed to UNC continues to get bigger, stronger and better.

TOM MCANDREW
MacArthur, A, Senior
Committed to Binghamton. Could improve upon his 38 goals last season.

PAT MCCORMICK
Hicksville, A, Senior
Headed to Chapel Hill and led the Comets with 54 goals and 15 assists last season

JAKE MCCULLOCH
Ward Melville, A/M, Junior
A versatile player headed to Cornell who earned a starting role on the nation's No. 1 team last year.

KYLE MCGINLEY
Calhoun, M, Senior
The Albany commit had 28 goals last season.

CULLEN MINION
Garden City, D, Senior
Can frustrate top scorers and generate tunovers.

MICHAEL MOYNIHAN
West Islip, M, Senior
A hard-nosed versatile player who will take his talents to Quinnipiac.

KIERAN MULLINS
Islip, A, Senior
Finished second in scoring on Long Island (43 goals, 63 assists). Headed to Army. Has the ability to make others better.

DAN O'BRIEN
St. Anthony's, D, Senior
Will head to Navy after a post-grad year at Avon Old Farms in Connecticut.

MAC O'KEEFE
Syosset, A, Sophomore
Verbally committed to Penn State. A finisher with strong proficiency to freeze and fake out goalies.

AUSTIN LarryMiller
Manhasset, D, Senior
Key for a shot at the county title. Committed to Boston.

BRETT OSMAN
Miller Place, D, Senior
A true leader who helped the Panthers to a county title last year.

CHRIS PARLER
Long Beach, M, Junior
A fixture at showcases with unrivaled speed. Missed time last year, but could have a big season.

GORDON PURDIE
Lynbrook, A, Junior
In his third season on varsity, an excellent off-the-ball player who will also look to initiate on offense. Scored 30 goals.

MATT RAGIMIERSKI
Eastport-South Manor, A, Senior
Quarterbacks the Sharks' offense. Headed to Boston. Had 29 goals, 18 assists.

JUSTIN REH
Rocky Point, A, Senior
Likes to push the ball and is an offensive threat from anywhere. Albany commit.

TONY REH
Rocky Point, D, Senior
Also committed to Albany. Has strong skills and is an adept passer.

TOM REILLY
Ward Melville, D, Junior
Aggressive, but always under control with great footwork. Committed to Cornell.

PAT ROARTY
Ward Melville, M, Senior
Can finish and feed. A great leader for the defending state champion.

JAMES ROBERTS
Chaminade, A, Senior
Is great with both hands and is always looking to make the extra pass. Headed to Lafayette.

MATT ROBISON
Carey, M, Senior
The Stony Brook-bound leader scored 33 goals last season.

DAN ROONEY
Smithtown East, A, Sophomore
Tallied 20 goals and 25 assists.

JOE SAGGESE
Smithtown East, A, Senior
Had 26 goals and 34 assists. Committed to Drexel.

WILL SANDS
Friends Academy, A, Senior
A strong shooter and feeder, he led the Quakers to their first county title last season.

NICK SANTORELLI
Babylon, A/M, Senior
A lethal scorer who had 44 goals and 33 assists last season.

LUKE SCHWASNICK
Oceanside, M, Senior
The Syracuse-commit scored 27 goals last season and could improve that total this time.

JAKE SHEETS
Bay Shore, A, Senior
The Stony Brook-commit had 30 goals and 37 assists last season.

MATT SMIDT
Smithtown West, G, Senior
One of the county's best stoppers. Headed to Ohio State.

NICK SPILLANE
Carey, A, Junior
A two-year starter who verbally committed to Penn State.

KEVIN SNYDER
Commack, M, Freshman
A versatile player who is already committed to Maryland.

JAMES SULLIVAN
Garden City, M, Junior
Regarded by many as Long Island's best faceoff guy. Will see more of the field this season.

ROCCO SUTHERLAND
Northport, A, Junior
The Maryland-commit scored 24 goals and had 22 assists last season.

ROBERT TALAY
Smithtown East, D, Senior
Quick and aggressive with good communication skills. Headed to Stony Brook.

LIAM WALSH
Miller Place, M, Senior
Scored 20 goals for upstart squad. Committed to Marist.

JORDAN WALTER
Cold Spring Harbor, M, Senior
Racked up 29 goals and 11 assists. Headed to Notre Dame.

RAY WARDELL
Babylon, M, Senior
The Army-commit had 31 goals and 17 assists.

TYLER WARNER
Baldwin, M, Senior
Headed to Yale. Racked up 23 goals and 34 assists last season.

BRIAN WILLETS
Smithtown East, A, Junior
At 6-3, 180 pounds, the UNC commit presents a matchup problem for defenses.

THOMAS WRIGHT
Garden City, D, Senior
Has played a vital role on championship teams and only gets better. The Penn State commit should have a big season.

MATTHEW WYSOTA
Chaminade, D, Senior
Committed to Villanova. A superb defender with a high lacrosse IQ.

AUSTIN YEZARSKI
Miller Place, D, Senior
Headed to Providence. Has the ability to rise to occasion in big games.

CHRISTIAN ZAWADZKI
Smithtown West, M, Senior
Should give his team a formidable duo alongside Ryan Keenan. Committed to Maryland.

First kid on list from SWR was coaches and developed by COACH ROTANZ.

Defense Borges and Wright are Juniors not seniors. Will be back next year. Although old enough to be seniors lol

Keep an eye on SCHWASNICK from Oceanside. One of the best midfielders and overall athletes on the island. Doesn't get a lot of media because of where he plays. Going to 'cues next year.

It's a preseason list based on predicted performance. For the most part, it's spot on. There will always be a few that disappoint, as well as slip though the cracks. Kind of like the 9th grade recruits everyone's bitching about! c'mon you already knew this!!

Newsday does no homework, Most kids on list were all county league last year(that's what they use). When you do not play on top team school that does not get many, and some kids go under radar.

People complain about lists all the time. This one looks pretty good. They do leave out a few good players but if you play a weak schedule, because your team is weak, you may get overlooked. Does anyone really care if a kid has all his points vs the worst teams in the conference ?

Seems most of these Kids are Top D1 verbals/nli . The two Freshman have verbals at Virgina and Maryland.
