Aaand the thread dies with a whimper after 99.9 percent of these kids are now ensconced on JV (or quit), bc, you know, math. Who knew? It was fun while it lasted, I'll never forget the golden quotes, "My 7th grade son is being looked at by numerous high schools." "HoCo elite players have the expectation of making varsity freshman year." "Brian Kelly told my kid that you have to make varsity in 9th grade to get seen after 10th grade." (Winter of 8th grade), "My son is expecting numerous full scholarships to HS." What's funny is that if you walk around the MIAA schools during weekend/after school events, you can see all the kids who have already quit the sport, still wearing their Crabs, FCA, and 91 shorts and hoodies. So much for "developing athletes" - these clubs have some of these kids for 5+ years, year-round, and then when their 3rd line of "elite" players get a sniff of what high level HS lax looks like, nevermind, they just quit. So much for Dad's big lax ambitions and Mom's MIAA lax sticker in the Yukon.

So much for Dad's big lax ambitions and Mom's MIAA lax sticker in the Yukon. Without putting too much effort into it, I can think of 8 kids from my son's club team who are on (MIAA A or DC) varsity teams this year as freshman. There were several others who were on the fence. I'm guessing some of the other club teams are similar. You sound insecure and bitter.

Sure, maybe when they play Ryken or the public’s, but not in real games. The level of play is simply way above 14-15 year olds at this point. But no need to quit or lose the window decal, lot of sophomores will have big impacts on these teams

I think "level of play" is oversimplifying and gives older players (and their country club dads) too much credit for what nature (and weight room) does naturally . The varsity freshmen are generally big, fast, and talented. But not compared to 19 year old MIAA seniors. The MIAA play books are complex compared to Calvert County high school teams but it is not thermodynamics. A kid who has played 0 varsity games will have to push to keep up with guys who have played 30 varsity games.

So there are freshman having an impact at the varsity level?? In real games? I don’t mean the blowouts against bottom feeders. Name me one. Or just the team if you don’t want to single a kid out for having an impact.

Of course your freshman are playing on varsity, they are all old enough to drive. They can probably vote next year.

I know it's hard for you to understand but your kid just might not be the best player. It's ok. Guys like you have been crying on here for years. Some kids are just better athletes, work harder or are in a better situation with their coach, the guys ahead of them or whatever. Clearly you have no clue so you come on here and challenge people to name some. I can think of 7 freshman attackman, 4 middies, 4 fogos and 1 defender who are on varsity in MIAA/DC from my son's friend group alone. Some of them play more than others but all of them deserve it and some are even on age. Grow up.
