How was box this weekend? Preds, Warhogs, primetime ? Not sure about those programs, but Superstar was at the northeast regional in PA. They did as expected (some good, some bad), seems like this is the norm for superstar too. First, my son is on the JV team, and we were informed on Friday that there will be no jv team and that the boys are to play the varsity team. with! The varsity went 1-3, with only one game being really blown out. The other two losses were close games. They did beat 845 box, a rockland program. RC and staff are extememly knowledgeable, were great players, are good coaches, but the business adminstration of superstar is horrible. Communication from RC is horrendous! He should honestly hire someone to run the business end because he is pathetic. But no one can get that arrogant person to respond to an email/text in a timely manner. I'm done with superstar after this season. The quote for me that captures RC best was when I was told by Superstars parents that even Roys friends dont like him. Actually confirmed with some old teammates too that he is one arrogant laxer. Anyone that goes near UVA should have their head checked. Imagine being at a team dinner with Colsey and Millon? Only thing RC doesn’t have is the annual NLF video showing what a l0$3r he is. Millon cornered that market. The UVA locker room is going to be a bigger dumpster fire than UNC……though with all the bong hits going on in UNC locker room Tar Heels may be the ones to start a fire sooner. Let’s review our local landscape EN- Schrieber in name only. Not a player, not an uber laxer but not for everyone JH at Eclipese- Great player, good person, not good at recruiting but ego is generally in check DE at 2way- Great player, very nice person, does require the reclass but would help anyone needing help MM Preds- Holy biggest lax bro laxer out there and is proud of it. Dumpster fire just like UNC. Go figure. MB 91TS- True family man, family lax program and just good people. Not trying to be anything more than what he is which is a good person and very good lax player Have you seen that RC is now head coach of PLL chaos! The over/under is 1 season: takers? I’ll take the under every time. Have to think he may not even make it out of training camp. I cant imagine how his ego and attitude will go over with grown men. The man is a bully of young kids and star struck parents with very very limited coaching capabilities. Not to mention, one of the largest Meanyh07es of all time. Ironic they hired him after the fall out being about an OC that was an incompetent MeanyNice job Rabil, you now hired an incompetent Meanyto be the headcoach. Just what the PLL brand needs

A - Mamo B - Greeley & Ytown C - Rye & Somers D - Bronxville
Seems to be a big gap between Mamo, Rye, Greeley, Somers, Ytown and everybody else... I think this is accurate. But the everybody else group does contain a lot of very good teams that would be at the top of the food chain everywhere else amongst public schools except for LI, parts of CT, and bits of PA and MA. Section 1 has never been better overall, even if right now the top teams are not better than in years past. Especially in C this year. A lot of very good teams that nonetheless won't beat Somers and especially Rye. Those other teams have to hope that Somers and Rye meet prior to the final. The 8th best team in C might be better than the 4th best team in A, B and D.

Regarding football, this game should have been played in the last two years. I don't think Somers will be nearly as good as they have been. Graduating and have graduated a ton.

Greeley 3rd? why? every year we hear how good they are, but they haven't won a thing. Putting them ahead of Yorktown is a joke. Same with Somers.. haven't won a thing. This is Greeley,s year!!! just like every other year!

This is Greeley,s year!!! just like every other year! Greeley's best class are the 2025s. Consistently getting better each year and took lost Ytown in the finals last year. Beat Mamaroneck and Somers last year. Graduated 4 seniors and a ton of young talent. Ytown graduated much of their offense, which was not their strong suit last year. Graduated the best LSM in Section 1, leaving their top goalie and not that much more behind. That said, Greeley hasn't won a thing and until they do, there will be doubts they can win it. But, the talent is there...

8,9 and 10 are up in the air. Scarsdale will not be good this or years to come, just lost to much talent to graduation and founders league. PV has a good 2025 class so they should do well and will beat BV (IMO) due to lack of goalie and new HC who is a d coach. Carmel may have lost to many to graduation to be relevant, but always have great athletes.

Yorktown returning 4 juniors on offense , one of them their leading goal scorer. Defense is down, but they have one of the best coaches to get them ready. Best goalie in the section and a very good fogo. Safe to say that rye is the best in the section. Rye will make a legit run to states. Somers has a lot to prove. John Jay lost 2 AA on offense. Greeley.. all or nothing this year. Mamaroneck also very good. Be nice to see a couple of sec1 teams get past Long Island. Pvillle and Yorktown almost did last year. I think this year we will see a state champ, out of section one! Let’s go !!!

Any sleeper teams to look out for? Watch out for Pearl River. Returns the entire roster from last year and will get some back who were injured previously. Most of the kids play hockey so they are tough and gritty. I think TZ can always make some noise too they have a lot of talent as well. Rockland lacrosse is getting better and these two will represent it well this year.

My preseason top 10
1. Rye - The Garnets are talented on every end of the field. This is a hard team to stop. Kids are seeing Ivy League commitments left and right which could cause less of them to go to Brunswick in the future. If they win the state a dynasty could be on the horizon.
2. Mamaroneck - Their ‘26 class stepped up big down the stretch last year and that will continue. They are a large school so the talent pool is big. They have a tough schedule to prepare them for the playoffs. There will not be much resistance in class A this year for them.
3. Yorktown - They graduated a lot but Yorktown is a lacrosse factory. The two most important positions on the field (G/FO) are some of the best section 1 has to offer. They graduate a lot on defense but if there is any goalie that can pick up the slack it’s this one.
4. Greeley - To be the man you gotta beat the man. Greeley is undoubtedly a talented group returning pretty much everyone last year. Goalie from last year was a student but they have a pretty good one coming up the pipeline. If there is any year to get it done, it’s this one.
5. Somers - Somers has so much talent. Good on both ends but the strength is on offense. They know how to win from football and have taken down Rye in that sport. I give the Tuskers a real chance here. They get one shot in May as there is no regular season meeting.
6. Bronxville - On the bright side Bronxville returns a lot on offense. Unfortunately they graduate one of the best Goalies Section 1 has seen in quite some time. Unsure about the new coaching staff but they are still the favorite in D regardless.
7. Pelham - The Pelicans return a lot of talent from last year. They are being slept on and I think they will exceed expectations. The problem is that they are in the most competitive class in Section 1 and will need to take down either Rye or Somers to compete for a championship.
8. Pleasantville - That ‘24 class was amazing and will be missed. They do return a lot of talent though. They have a good FOGO and lots of quality players left over from last year. The field in Class D is wide open so who knows.
9. Pearl River - The Pirates return their entire roster from last year. They are solid in every aspect but not special. They are a gritty group who will try to knock your teeth out. If they can round into form by May they may be a team you don’t want to see in the playoffs.
10. John Jay - They lost a lot from last year but there will be some familiar faces in the lineup. They barely squeak into the top 10 because they have an amazing goalie who can single handedly keep them in games. I think he will see an uptick in shots this year but he can handle it.
HM (In order) - TZ, Scarsdale, Westlake, Lakeland and Carmel
Really looking to watching Section 1 this year in the new shot clock era. Will make the games more entertaining, no more stall ball. Lots of talent in 2025 were in for a wild ride.

Most of the kids play hockey so they are tough and gritty. I think TZ can always make some noise too they have a lot of talent as well. Rockland lacrosse is getting better and these two will represent it well this year. Very very few also play hockey. Maybe 3. Must have them confused with another team. And while they return their entire roster, it was a lot of juniors (now seniors). The jump from junior to senior is the smallest jump. While they will be good, and better than last year, expectations should be managed on how much better exactly. And C is very deep. Maybe 8-9 teams that would be top 4 in the other 3 classifications. While one can argue that Section 1 is not better at the top than in years/decades in the past, it has never had as many good, competitive teams as it does right now. Other than 1-3 teams at the top of the section, and certain bottom feeders, a lot of teams have the potential to win or lose a lot of games depending on injuries, adaptation to shot clock, goalie/fogo play, strength of scheduled, and just plain luck and randomness.

I think Carmel will be decent. As we saw in last years section final they were very top heavy, they had a good senior class. There are good players coming up the pipeline though. Hopefully they did themselves a favor and watered down the schedule. They are young and inexperienced but could still be a feisty team.

feels like most the best players are headed away to private I disagree, Section 1 isn’t what it used to be but there is still lots of talent. I never understood why a kid from a decent program would go private. College coaches primarily recruit through the club circuit anyways.

is anybody following /looking at the founders league teams this year Taft is only team in the league that matters. after Nic Bell left Taft, Taft has fallen. the stats indicate Loomis is the new King of the league. If you are a good player and you play on a high end travel club, you do not need to play private. just look at Rye, JJ goalie, Yorktown goalie. stay at home and be the leader at your HS.

if your looking to use a private school to get recruited, go someplace where the coaches have real relationships with the college coaches . unfortunately after Nick Bell left, no one is getting recruited from Taft unless your club program is very strong. These schools can set the stage for you , but the coaches need real relationships . The track record at Loomis the last 3 years is nothing short of amazing , Holderness has does an amazing job

Should caveat that with if you live in a lacrosse town with a good school. Even though school is important lacrosse is importanter. Staying home in JJ, Rye, Mamaroneck and Yorktown and being on a top club team makes sense. Shout out to Rye and Mamaroneck who lose plenty of kids to prep schools and still turn out top tier talent and winning programs. Loomis is an interesting one. Looks like they are the parking spot for a whole bunch of 24 commits doing PG years. Is coaching why Taft is falling behind as they seem to have a lot of talented and highly rated playes.

consensus seems to be stay at your high school especially if your on a good club team Let’s be honest, the reasons to leave HS for private school are; 1. Grade inflation (leaving a good HS to go private, the most logical reason would be Johnny is awesome on the field, but average in the classroom), 2. Re-classing (cannot be done in public schools; Johnny is no longer dominate as he was in youth lax and Dad/Mom/player cannot accept that his best days are gone already), 3. He’s a big fish in a little pond. His development and competitiveness is very limited (last season, 49 public school teams in Sect One. Only 23 had winning records above .500; if your son has talent, but the HS @ChillLaxin and your not on one of the five local AA club teams), 4. Injury, loss of season. Re-classing makes sense, 5. Parent/HS coach drama (delusional parent disorder). Nearly everyone reading this knows of at least 2 kids that left public to go private and those kids usually fit in #s 1-3 above.
