To help with the BIC part I looked at the middies list to see if any were recently added/it looked full. 56 middies seems pretty full to me, I will say it also seems pretty political and a lot of who you know as the new Coppermine coach's daughter is now listed at a middie for BIC...

Honestly none of these camps really matter and only increase chances for injury after a long spring and summer season. Let your daughter rest and enjoy being 15, it won't impact her recruiting at all especially if she plays for a big time club with good recruiting coordinator

I will say I don't think most players/parents have this opinion as the majority of the girls that participate in these events are from big time clubs with a good history of recruiting.

I think at this point BIC and JO are pretty much done. I am not sure if this is typical of UA 150 to keep putting out wave after wave or if they are struggling to fill the spots with good players.

I don't think MOST parents/players think the events are "GOOD" they are just too afraid not do do them. For the cost of the events, travel, and time the instruction is not beneficial. There aren't really true stats to know whether or not these are helpful, but the coordinators and marketers of the events will make you believe that they are a necessity. As long as the parents keeps spending the money and the event marketers keep creating the FOMO, people will continue to feel the need to attend or try to attend them. College coaches are starting to push back about the number of events being scheduled in the summer as their time is getting spread too thin.

This^

IMO attending these events are probably more important to the parents and their social media than the player. The kids are smoked by this point in the summer and are starting school in a few weeks. It is dog poop lacrosse and risk not worth the reward

BIC is basically done and said they will be completely done early February. UA 150 has always done invites in waves and I believe they said they're coming up on final wave.

Did anyone go to the Winter BIC? How was it? Looks like BIC is trying to align itself with every event out there this summer.

A significant factor for many girls from top clubs is FOMO rather than any actual benefit of being noticed, which is unlikely outside of a recruiting years. You do get the chance to play with other good players, but often it's good players playing bad lacrosse in an effort to stand out. Obviously, this is not the case for ALL, but it certainly is for some. And by the way, no judgement, of course parents want their child to be included and do not want to see the pain it causes for them NOT to be invited come June when all of their teammates and friends are posting themselves at the event all over social media. It's a life lesson moment, but @ChillLaxin just the same.
Newest Fomo is the Nilly thing. The Draft. Really!!!!!!! Saw a edit on IG today that said "First Round Draft Pick". I like LM, but this feels like a scam.

They will keep coming out with this @ChillLaxin until parents and players say enough. I have 3 olders girls who went through the process and opted out of all of these events and went to very good D1 programs. The coaches laugh all the way to the bank at the parents behind the scenes who pay for these events but looks good on the gram!

Heard from a friend who went with her DD that there it was a good event. Since it was open, rather than invite-only, the players were able to work directly with college coaches. Not a big MD presence, but large group from Monsters and mix of solid players from other clubs, including Florida-based clubs.

Rosters are posted on their website. Looks like a lot of middies and a lot of Heros players which isn't a surprise since they were the evaluators and will be coaching the team. Some top players which likely means team Maryland will blow out everyone in AA and lose most of their games in AS which has been the trend the last few years.

Especially because other areas around the country favor AS so the competition is much better there and much weaker at AA. Maryland is much stronger at AA because it is local. It will be a cake walk against weak competition especially since Maryland is stacked.

Looks like most of the top talent from all the clubs showed at AA... that team is stacked. A little heavy on Heros but looks like they did get a mix from all the local clubs

Pretty heavy on private schools too, unless you are on Hero's and their coach is going to be the AA coach.

American Select might perform exceptionally well for Maryland this year because many of the individualistic players from last year will be on All America. Emphasizing teamwork appears to be a strong winning strategy, as most of the America Select teams from other regions consist of a majority of players from the same club program, so they are already accustomed to playing together.

All of lacrosse in this area is all about Private Schools. Anyone with any talent needs to go to a private school if they want to play in college.

Good luck with that. You'll pay 1K + to spend 2 hot days in DE while they field as many teams as they can per age group. Unevenly spreading talent out across the teams just like last year, thus limiting the effectiveness of any "top team." Just to lose to a NY team that is basically Monsters, a GA team that is basically Eaglestix, or a LI team that is basically YJ, all teams your daughter will have just played, perhaps more than once, over the summer.

It's not just talent. The cost of private school is too much for some families.

Not true at all - plenty of examples of public school players who also play for top notch clubs and have gone to high level D1 programs and been successful

That is a shallow comment, some of the best players in the state have come from public schools, currently the number 2 recruit in the country is from public school in MD. Its whatever is best for the player and their family, if the player is talented enough they will get recruited through their club team.

Unfortunately this area has made it this way and I don't think it can change back any time soon. Unless you are fortunate enough to be zoned for the 7-8 public schools in the region (including the one where most of the Heros 2028's go) and are good at lacrosse it is really hard to not get @ChillLaxin into the narrative that you need to go private. Thus people are spending $$$ (whether it is a strain on the family or not) to send their kids to schools with varying levels of academics and with 35+ players on each of the varsity, jv, and fresh/sophomore teams because they worry if they don't it will be the end of their daughter's lacrosse dreams. It does seem like with most of the recruiting still coming through club this would not be the case but Baltimore privates and lacrosse have a strong hold on families in this area even if the school does not have great academics, costs too much for their family, and their kid never sees the field.

What does All America charge? Is it only one day in Baltimore? Do college coaches go to one event over the other? Why does Maryland do so well at AA?

It's around $550. It's not one day, it's a tournament that starts on Thursday with a team practice, then games go Friday - Sunday. I think everyone is guaranteed like 6 games.

Maryland does well at AA because many top girls choose to stay local after a long summer of travel. This event also turns into invite only regional teams junior year and an invite only north/south game senior year, while AS ends after sophomore year. If you WANT an invitation to those teams, some believe it helps to start playing the event at younger years.

The competition at All America last year was very weak in the 27-28 Division which is why Maryland did so well. That in addition to the fact it is a local tournament for most Maryland players adds to the allure of it. There are college coaches at both but 95% or more of the coaches will be looking at the 27’s this summer. Use it as a hammerhead to prepare for next year when the 28’s start to get viewed this Fall.

Is it normal for club coaches to ghost their girls during the high school season? Our coach hasn’t reached out to see how tryouts were or anything.

Do they normally reach out prior to now? I don't think I would ever expect my DDs club coach to text us in the off season.
