Just looked at ua150 roster for the first time since they added some more players and wow, just wow. How did all of these SWs kids get in there? Does UA think that SW is still a top club? The 29 blue team has maybe one kid who should make any all star circuit, the same stuff happened at AS last summer. They took all these SW girls and it was clear that they didn’t deserve it. There are like 6 SWs on the UA roster and team isn’t even top 30, complete joke. You do not realize that Skywalkers and Robinson own UA 150? Of course they are going to showcase their own girls, even if mediocre. None of the SW girls made AS last year. Well maybe 2 did?? If you are worried about this, suggest you apply for BIC, where at least its a somewhat independent evaluator. I knew about Robinson sports being involved, but had no clue about the SW connection. There were 4 girls on current SW team at AS, 3 on Red. Given how SW has performed, that is even too high a number for any legit all star team, but 12 or whatever they have for UA150 is insane.

I havent seen anyone coment that a qualified player did not make AU. Without that being the case whats the problem. Who's to say.

Looking at the roster for both at this age, they are very similar. Both are very similar on how they select kids. Only difference is BIC limits how may girls they will take from one team. This is good and bad, if you are on a top 5 team you may be left out of BIC even if you are better than some of the girls on other lower level teams. This is first year for both and a lot of girls just didn't apply. UA150 is still a top event once the girls get to HS.

Girls that can barely catch and throw make it. Robinson tries to invite girls from as many clubs as possible and it shows. When my daughter (a top 10 D1 school commit) did it, her team was absolutely terrible.

I know at least a half dozen girls who applied and haven’t been invited yet, and they are way more deserving than the SW, 3d VA Metro, and M&D shore players. And they might get left off completely bc UA will want to get girls from all over the country and will be mid-atlantic heavy already. There is simply no way that these girls should get an invite to this, especially in the early waves, when the supposed best players are taken. That is the problem.

Robinson is M&D, not Skywalkers Correct - Robinson (M&D) and Skywalkers (2 separate entities) own the rights to and run UA 150, to my knowledge.

Question about winter and pre-spring team events....... For those 29's and 30's that played in indoor championships last weekend at Spooky Nook - did you club cover the cost or did you have to payextra (above your regular club dues)? Did your club take your whole roster or did the coaches select certain players to go and exclude others ? Did you have equal or somewhat close to equal playing time? Did your teams have girls that sat out significant amounts of time or even entire halves? Was it considered optional, mandatory, or optional with the expectation that all the girls would attend? Just curious how different clubs handle that tournament.
My other question is how clubs handle non-club run practices and outside leagues during the winter. Does your club play in outside leagues in the winter ? Do your actual coaches coach in these outside leagues or do parents jump in and coach ? Do non coach parents enter portions of your teams in outside leagues and exclude others ? If so, how does your club and/or actual coaches address this ? IS your team holding winter practices that are not through your club and covered by your regular dues and asking everyone to pay extra) ? If so, are non coach parents running these practices and only inviting certain players? Or do your actual coaches coach and include everyone ? Are they optional or are they mandatory ? If you can't attend winter practices because of conflicts are you still being asked to contribute to these extra costs that pay for the indoor spaces ? How are conflicts with winter sports handled ?
I'm just curious how all the different teams treat winter lax events. I'll be interested to see the replies

American Select and New Balance All America are on the same weekend, New Balance is the the more select tournament, correct? Outside of Maryland, AS is the premier event for the rest of the country. It seems the Baltimore region tends to do better in AA than AS. Not sure if its because other regions focus on AS or because of how the evaluation process is handled for AA vs. AS. But to answer your question both are great events if your daughter makes either team she should be excited.

Our club does most as a team and the team covered the expense at Spooky Nook. All played relatively equal time. I believe we may have paid a little by those only that decided to play the winter indoor because some decided not to because of other conflicts, but all were offered the opportunity. We do have some practices included with the club and are also offered others that cost between $10-$15 only for those that make those extra practices. Certain practices are preferred to attend and covered while the extra we pay for are all optional because the club understands some don’t play a winter sport and prefer the extra training. Maybe I am reading your post incorrectly but it sounds like you have major concerns about how your club operates?

American Select and New Balance All America are on the same weekend, New Balance is the the more select tournament, correct? Depends of what you consider "select". Both require tryouts, so theoretically you need to show up and perfrom. AS has multiple teams per region, so many more spots available. I believe Long Island had 4 teams last year. AA only has 1 yeam per region, so less spots available. That being said, the talent can shift depending on where the better players want to play. Seems like more of the NY players have headed toward AS last 2 years. MD has had a pretty even split in top talent between the 2 teams. Ask around, see who is tryng out for each, and make the best decision for your kid. Oh, and AS costs about 3x as much as AA. Just fyi...

I see you guys rushed to add the game on USCL for rankings purposes, but when do you guys play them for real? Full strength, full field, normal draws after goals? You guys duck the NGLL, so I guess it will have to be this summer when you guys make your typical quarterfinal appearance at whatever tournament after dominating #37, #112, and #51 in the lowest bracket possible before bowing out. M&D should run over to USCL and get their indoor national championship games added and their games against varsity HS teams added too. So weak.

I'm just curious how all the different teams treat winter lax events. I'll be interested to see the replies Winter expenses for both clubs we have been with were extra. Indoor league cost was divided equally between the girls who were participating. Not all chose to participate due to other sports. They have all gotten equal game time if their availability has accommodated it. Goalies have alternated games each week. We have also done extra training with outside coaches but that has been included in our club fees so far.

Next level went down to FL to play a bunch of nobodies and I think is playing in the st james league in VA, m&d black is playing in the varsity league at 4 seasons, and integrity is playing in a HS league somewhere in aa county. Don’t know what else is going on, but that and the bwi league seem to cover all the ngll MA teams. Same story the best teams are still the best.

NGLL schedule is out and half of the teams have no business being in the A division. CClax, Legends, m&d red, m&d shore, MC elite, Stars, Renegades, and MDU west are simply not A level teams. And honestly, MDU east and 3d VA really aren’t either, but they should be left in to balance out scheduling. Man, what a disappointing last season of NGLL play. Jacked up by overzealous parents and directors that want to be able to say that their team played in the highest bracket. So weak. Should be 9 teams in A, maybe 10 tops.

West is doing better than East so far this year. There needs to be a third bracket. It’s not as simple as A and B anymore. All those B teams that should be in B brackets but the actual B bracket teams are more like C bracket teams. So how are those B teams going to grow when there is such a large gap between some of them and the teams that are in the B bracket? I don’t blame teams like West being in the A bracket, they have no business being the in B bracket, the gap between them and actual B teams is too wide.

There really needs to be a third bracket. There are too many in the A bracket and too large a gap in skill level between the top and the bottom of the bracket. One could argue that some of these ‘B’ teams would be too good for the actual B bracket, but are also not string enough for the top 10. Hard spot without a middle ground.

All the girls were told at the end they would receive an email if they made the team within 72 hours. As far as I know, nothing has been sent out but, 72 hours is Thursday so give it some time.

You sound nervous crying about it. Let me know which team your kid is on and I will let you know exactly how nervous I am. But I can tell you that if your kid is on any of the non-A teams I listed above, I am not nervous at all. Nobody is scared to play any of them.

Anyone's daughter do AA tryout yesterday? Did they give a timeline when the girls would hear whether they made it or not? Team was selected and roster is out. Completely stacked team.

This has to be some notIntelligent troll job, probably that YJ parent again, but I will still bite: https://www.USCL.com/rank?v=2029&alpha=N&y=2024G3 of the top 5 and they play all the top teams, all three are unbelievably good.
