OK big momma, your daughter played against average competition

They played against Jesters, FL Select, and Eagle Stix. But sure, average.

So now anyone who isn't top 4 is average? The stuff some of the clowns write.

And for the record, M&Ds bread and butter is draw, getting up and down the field and scoring. I've never known them to be defensive juggernauts. Like, not ever. Heros, however, has a great defensive unit.

Ok hero’s dad. Hero’s defense is their weak spot, 100%. They have an amazing goalie, and one great defender. Other than that, they are average at best. Most of their defenders would struggle to make the A team on M&D, SW, MDU, and Capital.

Just ask Jesters how great Hero’s defense is. Jesters beats them everytime they play them and their offense is average at best.

Don't need to ask anything. It's the match up and draw control. SW beat Jesters by 6 (8-2); M&D beat Jesters by 1 (4-3). And M&D beat SW 5 -1 in the chanpioship. What can you gather from that? Not much. Ill say it again: draw control, matchup. SW has a strong D as well (16 goals allowed in the midatlantic). They do foul, but they play HS level physical D. I think Heros is overrated.

So by this logic, SW is the best team in the DMV...got it

By your logic, you can't read. You missed the sentence where i said: "What can you gather from that? NOT MUCH."

Then why mention it? Put a lot of thought into your post? "NOT MUCH" I guess

I posted because the other posts talked about who had better defenses, using scores as their support. I made the point that you can't only go by scores bc they don't fully reflect quality of defense. You actually made by point by implying SW beating a Jesters by more than M&D didn't mean SW was better than M&D. That's my point: Sometimes it's about match-up, style of play and draw control.

Listen, i don't know if you read after you have a buzz, can't read with conprehension, or...or... hear me out... are just dense. Either way, please keep posting. This brings me joy, bigly.

Bigly? Gotta be a SW parent.

Missed another joke and wrote a slow-witted come back? You bring nothing to the forum a 3rd grader couldn't. Go sit down or hire better writers.

Nah. Rather get a rise out of a dullard like yourself. Go SW
Wait. Are people switching sides? I'm so confused.

Is the take All-American is still an inferior product? I know old threads have addressed this.

Also, do all the bmore teams go to presidents cup? And is this an actual recruiting event? Or is it just the start of getting ready for recruiting season?

Go Baltimore, right?

The roster was actually balanced really well leading to tons of assisted goals as opposed to constant hero-ball. Coaches played equal PT the entire tournament including playoffs. Can't speak to competition elsewhere vs AA, but our DD thought this was a great experience overall.

Is DD defense daughter? Did the team really only have 3 defenders? If so, was there a strategy there? And is this one of the reasons there was so much scoring.... bc they had a ton of offense?

Agree. Competition was definitely lacking. A couple areas showed competition in the beginning of the games but just did not have the depth to hang with Baltimore. It looked liked a goal grab for players who showed athleticism but not lacrosse skills. We all know running through doubles and triples is not going to work. The top 10 teams in the 2027s would not have given up half the goals scored by Baltimore.

Speaking about American Select, I thought it was a really well run tournament. Love that they have all of the other states represented. We made it a beach trip and made the 30 minute commute to the fields for the two days. Seems really well organized and my daughter had a great time. The competition was good and there were a lot of coaches watching the 26's. Can anyone contrast this with AA? Better or worse?

This was not at all what the offense looked like so I have to assume you're just commenting to hear yourself talk. Compared to other experiences my DD has had with events like these, this team did NOT have many girls trying to run through doubles and triples (though there are always one or two who try it) and a large percentage of their goals were scored off moving the ball on fast breaks and assists to cutters. Scoring was spread out. Competition was fine, though admittedly no one came within 5 goals of the Baltimore Command team. But the Burn team, which was loaded, had closer games.

Re: the person's question about defense, my DD does not play defense so I wasn't paying as close attention but there were more than 3 defenders. One girl who made it as a defender tore her ACL so they had fewer from the start. In order to make subbing easy and even one midi played at defense and attack each half, they took turns.

Was the burn team loaded more than command? I only watched the last 2 games for command. The game before the final had more running through double teams. The final game definitely had more passing and smarter play. The smaller draw girl and 2 girls on the circle had control of the game in the final. The goalies for the command team also played well and had a lot of saves. Overall it was fun to watch and a great tournament. Also loved the uniforms.

Good luck and here’s to a healthy season. I hope everyone gets the looks from the colleges they are interested in. And let us all remember the way we as parents act at these tournaments may impact our girls. Should be a fun and interesting year.

Anyone been through this recruiting year with an older daughter with advice? What are the best events to try out for? Better to participate in school prospect camps? My daughter has a goal to play in college and how do we figure out what level of a school is best for her? Should we start contacting colleges now? How do we know which colleges are interested so we continue making sure they see highlights? This is completely new and would love to heard from anyone with experience.

Make a list of schools, D-1, D-2, and D-3. Start with a minimum of 15.
Decisions:
Large school, small school.
Urban Setting, Rural/Small town setting
Desired Field of study offered
Distance from home, (travel distance)
Warm climate, Colder climate
Properly evaluate your daughter's ability.
Google the conferences for D-1,D-2 and D-3 to get idea of schools
Got to school websites
Fill out prospective player questionnaire if available on web-sites.
Send e-mail to coach with fall and summer club schedules.
Attend camps that have coaching representatives from interested schools.
Attend prospect camps.
Try-out for all-star team events (UA 150, All-American, American Select)
Attend IWLCA tournaments.

Hope some of this helps...

Great List to go by . Make sure the school is a place she would be happy with even if she isn't on team. Injuries, playing time, change of coaches, etc sometimes come into play.

Question about positions at these showcase events. My daughter plays midfield but should she always go out as one for showcases? Should she try out as attack or defense? She has friends do this to make events because they might not make it as a midfielder and still want the exposure. I tell her to go out as what you want to play but am I wrong? She is our oldest so this is also all new to us. I don’t understand trying out for a position you don’t play. Someone please clarify if my daughter is correct and if we should be open to change. (I never played lacrosse so are positions this interchangeable?)

Usually a lot of kids sign up as midfielders for these all-star showcase tournaments. My suggestion would be, if your daughter has strong defensive skills, signup as a defender and showcase her midfielder speed on defensive breakaways and clears up field. If she is a strong finisher, sign up as an attacker and showcase her midfielder speed in re-defending.

Agree but will add these showcase events tend to take more midfielders than any other position because most of the girls can play on both sides of the ball. You will see 1.5 to 2 times as many middies as there are attackers and defenders. So something to think about. If you are going to move her to one side of the ball or the other, consider the numbers game as well.
