So Live Love Lax is behind us. I have a very disappointed daughter as she has been anticipating to see what coaches would look at her recruiting profile and she got zero notifications. She played well and contributes on her IAAM hs team. She’s on a mid-tier club team so her games don’t attract the same attention as others. She knows this only the first tournament, but she’s been sending her emails to coaches fans getting her film out there. She was excited for this summer, but the reality of now looks has been sobering. I’m worried for her and all the pressure she is under. She is going to attend a few prospect days this summer as well as a showcase so we know she’ll be seen by schools that she is interested in.
For those who have been through this before, how did you help your daughter with the mental aspect of recruiting ? Is it too early to reset expectations? IMy recommendation would be to look at your remaining summer schedule, and do as many fun non-lacrosse related things with your daughter you and her have always wanted to do, but never got to. No matter how well-meaning or true any lax recruiting advice you're going to give her, it's going to add to the stress. Focus on relieving the pressure and anxiety, not adding to it. With the showcase and prospect days, she's doing everything that she can. You can't make the coaches look at her Sportsrecuits profile. Make sure that she's aware that profile views don't mean much and vice versa, no profile views don't mean that much either at this point. In mid July, if she still has no profile views and is expecting high D1, a conversation is probably in order. Other than that, your part is done on the lax side. Hopefully she has a decent coach or club director.

How does Maryland have two teams in AS and neither makes the playoffs? Combined 4-6 and one win was in a consolation game. I know the AA team had a lot of talent but this area should be able to field another team almost as good. Especially since the great Mg was the coach.

However, our A team had girls from 8 different club teams and B team had girls from 10 club teams. A majority of the games were against "states" which had a majority of their roster (usually more than 75%) girls from a single club. Some of them were just running club plays and sets. More important in a tight game. Also, we played our bench a good deal. Not exactly even playing time but somewhat close (as it should be in a recruiting event). Teams we played, not so much. For the A team 5-6 loss to Jersey. (11 girls from Steps NJ) 4-5 loss to Mass (14 girls from Mass Elite) 4-5 loss to Georgia (15 girls from Eagle Stix) 10-1 win vs. Cali ( 12 girls from Steps Ca) 13-6 win vs. Upstate (11 girls from Aces)

17 girls from Capital Blue on the DC team. Didn’t fair well for them. But goes to show the competition was had more depth with competing teams than AA.

Just because they were from the same club, doesnt mean they were on the same team your numbers are slightly off on the opposition count.

I think M&d had the same amount. There were 9 girls from Aces not 11 and 8 field players. 11 girls from monster and 2 from salt city and there was no “bench” everyone played equal playing time. Hence no chemistry and losses.

Thoughts on the IL 4 star, 5 star, and top 10 rankings of players? All of the girls on the list are talents. A couple of them, aren't elite athletes though. Even though they are top HS players, they may have more of a problem adjusting to top 10 D1 lacrosse. I'd argue players 6,7,8 are much safer bets to be top college players than players 1,2 and 3.

Thoughts on the IL 4 star, 5 star, and top 10 rankings of players? Rassas should probably be #1, she is exceptional and a true 2-way player, but not surprised at who they named #1. Reese is more deserving of #1 than Spallina was. Fossati not being top 10 is surprising. McD goalie is overrated and not the best goalie in the class. But for the most part I think they got the correct players.

Fossati is a hustler with a great stick and shot, but not a very good IQ, so i can see her being just outside the top 10... but with top 10 upside in the end.

Why is that? They not only topped HS players but they dominated the club scene as well. 6,7 and 8 have a much harder time against top clubs.

You must not know anything about the top 3. Do your research on who’s a top athlete

Fossati is all flash. Looks like the got something right! please stop referring to these girls by their names. It's tacky. They're kids and these comments aren't it. Unless you put your own name and daughters name in your post be quiet.

Very quiet for the first two days of recruiting. Offers made or asking girls to come onto campus? Would have thought top clubs would have some immediate commits

Regarding IWLCA Presidents cup. They are seriously threatening to not put teams on the schedule because they have not met the minimum 8 hotel booking for 2 nights. So tell me how this is the best interest for girls lacrosse and not money grab. IWLCA is going to make money on tourney registration fees. but because the hotel commissions will not be high enough, they will boot teams and players from one of the most important tournaments of their recruiting process?
The tournament is a week before thanksgiving and many families have plans to stay for the whole week, or stay for prospect camps, or have relatives in the area or may have booked VRBO with other families to save money. Just appears that one of the main organizations that is supposed to be promoting and growing girls/womens lacrosse is most interested in the money grab!

All tournaments are money grabs. If they couldn't make profits, they wouldn't have tournaments. It's big business.

They don't care if your daughter gets recruited. They just want everyone to pay the fees.

Those days are long gone. These tournaments and and 99% of recruiting events are always First about making money, second many are about getting players seen. Lacrosse no matter how much the holier than thou coaches talk, are interested in the bottom line of money and winning, players are secondary. Doesnt mean you cant call them out as they are necessary for many. Buyer Beware.

If your daughter has a good tournament, they will be on a team's radar. The rubber meets the road in the summer tournaments. Those 4-6 weeks in June and July are most important.
