Heard a bunch of rumors….

Crabs has 4 reclasses rejoining the team. Lost a defender and didn’t add much in the way of external talent.

91 lost their top attackman but added a new kid. Doubt he can fill those shoes.

FCA has added several new players. Sounds like the roster is improved but how they play with the new coaching staff is tbd.

Preds has 2 reclasses coming back and is swapping some kids between A and B teams. Seems pretty similar roster to last year.

Hawks had a ton of kids at tryouts. Not sure what changes came out of that turnout.

HOCO is not in line with the 2023-2024 NLF groupings. 2024-2025 are not yet posted on the NLF website. Just watch -- the 2024-2025 NLF groupings will match what HOCO has on its website for next year.

Not sure that kid will learn any semblance of maturity playing on that squad, unfortunately

Why would they mess with the team chemistry bringing in that toxicity. No way that kid beats out their current goalie. Heard they're starting at AA team at regular Fusion for Futures hopefuls. Wonder if he was offered a spot there.

Hearing Fusion Futures is heading to HOCO next year.

Makes sense now that the age restrictions will be relaxed and they can bring their 28s with them.

Word is some teams are challenging the HOCO age limits for 8th grade as they are not in line with NLF and US lax.

They should. To change the rules and break up teams for a single year is notIntelligent.

Has anyone heard how much the DC Express formation has impacted Madlax, Next Level or other area clubs?

Isn't HOCO a rec league? Or is it a for profit business? I am curious if there is any legal precedent for welfare of participants that comes into play here. I get that you can't control the for-profit club lax scene but rec leagues should be a safe spot from all the fool stuff that is happening in youth sports

HoCo operates a rec league and a club league. They are very different from one another.

It's a county run club league designed to raise money for the County. Long story short, it was developed by county staff as a grade based alternative to MYLA 10+ years ago. Hoco has subscribed to every bad chillaxin trend in youth lax except 2:

---rosters actually do mean something. on the rare occasion when they're checked, it's enforced.

----hold back as many years as you want, but no 9th graders allowed.

Once the teams are set for HOCO, it would be great if a parent representative from each team submits the number of kids on their team's teamsnap who haven't listed a birthdate.

Tell us you never played sports without telling us. How about we have a weigh-in and a bench press competition just to make sure everyone is the same size and strength.

Can someone explain why if the HoCo league is so terrible everyone keeps clamoring to join teams who participate there? Why not just take your princess and go play somewhere else? MYLA still exists, right?

Imagine thinking that the kids who want to play kids on age are the princesses and not the ones who need to hold back to be able to compete.

Welcome To Youth Sports is reporting all the holdbacks on Instagram.

My guess is the same parents of holdbacks who post videos of their kid posterizing opponents 2 years younger suddenly won't like social media.

You can look on the older grad class pages on BOTC and see the same complaints. Our family has been sending kids into the Hoco league for 10 years now and what they say about Capitalism is true about the Hoco League, "It's the worst.......except for all the others."

Hoco is the most substantial, competitive, and sustainable youth lacrosse league in the country, drawing about 40 teams per grad class per year, from future D1 super stars, to rec-club kids who probably won't play in 9th grade. It's clunky and has all kinds of problems, but it still, for the most part, WORKS. It is the standard, and league membership is pretty affordable, given the quality of the facilities.

NXT has had a multiple of problems (despite amazing facilities and piles of cash) replicating Hoco in Philly - with only 3 brackets - the HS standards of AA, A, and B, with about a third of the teams of Hoco. Maybe they'll be successful? Currently apples to oranges though.

Imagine making a statement like the one above to protect your fragile ego from the knowledge that your parenting decisions are made solely for youth athletic purposes. Come on man...a few months older!?!? Aug 1, 2011 and June 1, 2009. That is 12y 7mo vs 14y 9mo. Here is a fun experiment. How about that kid playing up from 2030 next year playing against your "few months older" kid. I will spell it out for you Aug 1, 2012 and June 1, 2009. This is an 11y 7mo player vs a 14y 9mo player. Not a few months. Sorry your child is young for his grade but congratulations on fixing that for him. He will thank you when he is older.

What is healthier for a sport? Leagues that allow a few talented and/or genetically gifted kids to play up or leagues that allow unlimited number of kids at any talent or size to play down? Parents can't fake talent but they sure can come up with lots of excuses and justifications to play down. "Just a few months older". 🤡

Somebody call the manager for Karen over here. Why not join a AA team and/or play MYLA if that's realistically your kid's level?

The holdback thing is a problem, but we all know the median age difference is hardly 2 years across the board. No reason to be so dramatic about it.

You are funny for sure! I have an on age kid who makes the boys his age ALL look like holdbacks because he is small. Not a care in the world if he plays against 15 year old or 18 year olds. At least the grown men and high school and college players he does play with and against don't have their daddy's walking around behind them telling them it is all ok. I don't have a dog in this fight but stop hiding behind the name calling and played out rhetoric. Played out dude. Take your licks , grab your high noon on the sidelines and complain about coach not seeing your boys talent.

And to think these posts are still coming after a full year with the Age Verification rules in place. 2029 is the only division where the extended age range applies. Clearly not a perfect system, but lacrosse was never going to go straight to a pure age-based system (like soccer). Maybe one day it will, but unless the club and tournament directors are pushing for it, this is it. Like the earlier poster said about the Hoco league, the system is the worst, except for all the others.

No matter how much you complain, it’s not going to change. There will always be someone bigger, faster, stronger and yes, older. You can either adapt or move on. Next year they will be mixed in with 9-12th graders plus holdbacks.

Kids develop at different ages and not everyone can make a top team or be a star. Support them to the highest level they can achieve and be proud of them. (also, please stop complaining)

The same holds true for reclass kid... Why can't he hack it with kids his own age or a few months older than him?

Many of the holdback kids end up being the juniors on JV in the MIAA.

They are so used to playing against younger, smaller talent, their entire youth career. So when they get to HS, they often struggle.

Yeah, but they had all of that glory in middle school. Totally worth it.

So let the poaching begin. Red hots is holding a “camp” to create teams for the red hots Maryland teams. Hmm camp = tryouts.

Any even halfway decent player is already rostered and paid for another team. Not a chance families drop a second $2500 to leave their current squad to play for a start up team of unknown quality.

True statement. Red hots seems to be trying to make a push for players in Maryland like true is. There must still be a lot of money to be made.

Red Hots won't get a local full time maryland team off the ground. I could see them trying to build a tournament team until they get enough of a foundation.

Red Hots National is a true national team and is where the "fly in" kids play. I can assure you that top players are not flying in from California or Texas to win an Aloha tournament with a bunch of former True Baltimore kids.

You are not alone, I'm a moderator and I've seen several issues occur since the June; not sure why either.

Firewalls, identity theft and virus protection software goes absolutely nuts when you visit BOTC.
MD forum access is blocked. Can only access from "Active Threads" link.
And the 27 thread only gets posts from Russian Troll farms, selling knockoff Yeezys.
Admin needs to disavaow all bad Backlinks or its going to make the site totally unusable in a year.
