Not the ones that matter. Spalding is heavily courting the 2028 hawks/7th graders I am hearing. Heavy recruiting the top third of that team. St Marys will not be good after this year for years to come. Correct in saying they need to win it NOW

You don’t know what you’re talking about and there are families that will never choose Spalding.

Spalding? Better do your research.

Honest question - What are the major differences between Spalding and St. Mary's? Academically, athletics, culturally? They seem to come in about equal in online Maryland private school rankings. Is it just the "charming" downtown Annapolis local? I know kids that live closer to StM that Spalding.

Diversity! Its night and day..........see what I did there!!!!

My son toured and shadowed both. He did not end up choosing either, but if he were to have his pick between those two he would have chosen Spalding, and it wasnt close. Besides the grounds of St. Mary's being downtown on the water he didnt like a ton about it.

Tip of the hat for picking up that story. If it's the same story I heard, he wasn't drunk, or coaching, but had a beer can out in the open at a sports event, which is definitely, explicitly not allowed (and as dads we're reminded of such), but also not a disaster.

Except that this isn't his first incident with alcohol in public. I seriously hope this dude gets the help he obviously needs.

Guess you got the same story he gave his club to keep his job after coaching 5th graders with the same blood alcohol level. Not that they wouldn’t excuse him anything, but you’re misinformed.

I'm the "tip of the hat" poster. Yeah I was misinformed. The story is out now. What a mis-hire by LB (which we knew already) and I guess when it comes to 12 ouncers and his job in club lax, he trains more.

He keeps playing the way he is, McNaney will be the backup when he comes back.

Ha. Doubt it. People are forgetting who was the goalie last year already? Ruppel may need to consider a move if he wants to play next year.

Tillman will take 3/4 more years over 1 more year of McEnnaney - similar to the logjam at Alabama with Hurts and Tua.

Tillman is not a football coach at Alabama. When McEnnaney returns it will be his job. It’s called treating people the right way not the Alabama way.

McEnnaney is presumably graduating this spring so transferring for grad school in the Ivy league or at another top academic lax school would also seemingly be an option.

Tillman is too smart to give away the starting position while he is winning. Ruppel will have the job for all 4 years if he continues to play the way he has been. Amazing work for a non-holdback, true freshman from a public school.

The question was whether public school lacrosse prepares you for D1. It does not. Like other good public kids, club and GoalieSmith did much more for him. No substitute for playing against the best.

Weak academics, guidance counselors are useless, they have block classes so the classes are an 1.5 hours, diversity is non existent, teachers there are there to collect a paycheck and nothing else, if you are not a family of once a saint always a saint your kid will NOT survive, you think Spalding is bad with politics STM is 10 times worse. Oh and if you don’t live in Annapolis Cove your kid will be excluded. Watching my nephew go through this was heartbreaking.

Prob can’t afford shot clocks. They’re really doing a disservice to the players who are going to need to play faster in college. Not giving them the head start with the shot clock in high school is a disadvantage IMO

There are reasons why you can be the #4 goalie at Gilman, never touch the field at varsity, and play D1, while the same kid would be the #1 goalie at Westminster goes D3.

One of those reasons is readiness to play the college game.

And if you're unlucky enough to go play in west coast tournaments, you'll see that the vast majority of programs out there never play with shot clocks.

The #4 string goalie goes D1? Really! Any facts or just delusional.....

If he is 4th string he might be younger. If there are three senior goalies on the team only one of them might have a chance at playing high level D1! Top 10 D3 beats the bottom 40 D1 schools anyway, so who cares if they play D3. And what does the shot clock have to do with the goalies?? The shot clock is an unnecessary expense for public school systems. You think they can't afford it....that is insane....they have plenty of money. It's really only an issue for private school dads!!

Ruppel style of goalie play is not championship caliber. Too many rebounds! Look at the last two goalies that won championships for Maryland totally opposite from Ruppel. McNaney and Morris are more composed and patient in the goal. They are actually tracking the ball.

Amazing how he can get in front of so many balls when he isnt tracking them!! How many games have you seen him play? You're probably just hating on him because he went to public school. Unzip your quarter zip a little....it's cutting off the blood to your brain!!

In advance, yeah we know nobody cares about LB etc etc. So keep scrolling.

LB program's in a bad place. Patchwork of random coaches from Varsity all the way to 7th grade, 1 season contracts, trying to hold it down until the next varsity HC is announced and he's allowed to start hiring his staff and vouch for the lower level teams' coaches. Doesn't seem like the worst game plan until things happen, like happened 10 days ago with the Fresh/Soph Coach.

See y'all in the MIAA playoffs around 2027.

Allergy medicine and bourbon, a fine combination for a Wednesday at 100pm when you need to be on field with the kids at 400pm! No one will ever know!

STM dominants CHC 13-2. criminal goalie makes his return in the second half but it isn’t enough. stm navy commit is too much to handle early as he trickles in 7 goals. VMI ex stm player makes return for his 7th season and contributes 5 goals. jamie lily caps off the night with a btb

Saints take over on Friday and beat The Hall by at least 6. That sorry excuse for a team has nothing on the boys from Annapolis. The Cardinals will have no answer for the killer offense of STM. Dillon Torggler and the saints play lock down D all game and Saints control possession with ease. Gavin Burlace does nothing but Erik Chick (him) nets a hat trick in a 12-6 saints victory.
