I agree it may not be fair, but that is the rule as written.

Rule is "ability" to shoot a legal shot not "intent" to shoot.

I have less of a problem with shooting space and more of a problem with the lack of dangerous propels being called. Just because the ball doesn't hit the player doesn't always mean it isn't a dangerous propel.

Obvious you never played. If they aren’t in shooting space it’s not dangerous. Ref letting it go and girls standing there with out a call say it’s ok to shoot. Lots of girls running in when someone shooting too.

Looking at Spooky Nook results…did Pride not play? Three 10-1 losses seem like forfeits.

They didn't show. I'm sure there's a good reason. They are always game.

Owner notified the team a couple days before the tourney. She was preoccupied and forgot was the reason given. By then, players were already committed to their other sports, out of town, accepted other activities, etc.

Sounds like a well run club.

Wait, the owner of Pride "forgot" about the Indoor Championship? There was a waiting list, she had to have already paid the fee, that makes no sense?

Unless the coach/players were never notified about being entered, which is a shame, given there was a waiting list.

So no divisions within A this year of NGLL.

So there 18 teams in A announced? That means teams play less than 50% of the league.

Could be a few top teams miss playoffs and a few outside top-8 make it too. I don't get the logic.

Something else must have been there, as Pride's 28 team was there.

So people cry about "uneven North and South"

So they do away with Divisions and make it so the top 6 teams regardless of Division make it and now people are going to cry about that.

If you're worried about your kids team not making it because of fairness or "logic "...they probably shouldn't or wouldn't make the playoffs anyway.

Should be interesting with NGLL this year and this one large Division. Looking forward to seeing schedules in early February. We will have the normal top teams (Hero’s Green/M&D Black/BLC), the solid teams (MDU/M&D Shore/Pride), rising teams (SW/Integrity), teams dropping (NEMS/Coppermine Black) and the bottom tier teams (CCLAX/ Coppermine Blue/ FCA). There will definitely some complete mismatches this year. Hopefully the schedule allows for the best teams to battle in the Playoffs but some might have their “Playoffs” with their season schedule.

I was surprised to see that Integrity tied both Pride Loudon and Next Level down at the Eye of the Hurricane. Did they have their full squad?

I wouldn’t put M&D shore as a solid team based off fall results. I believe they lost quite a few girls. Integrity lost 2 solid players at the end of fall that moved to MDU.

Maybe you don’t follow the 2027 age close but Coppermine and NEMS last year made playoffs and wouldn’t have won 4 games in South.

Pride Loudoun posted all their games from Eye of Hurricane to YouTube, you can see games for yourself. Looked like Pride tied Loudoun in final minute.

Should be an 8 team “Elite” division. Or whatever you want to call it.
Then AAA, AA etc.

Issue with one massive pool of teams is the schedule only allows 8 games.

You'd hope they break it down so no one team plays all M&D, Hero's Green and BLC, and no one team avoids all three.

Although there may not be split divisions, you'd need to put teams into silos in order to try to make a balanced schedule. US CLub rankings should be the guide they use to do this.

Here is the teams and their US Club rankings

Hero's Green 1
M&D Black 4
BLC 9
MD United 12
Skywalkers Blue 17
Pride Red 20
Stars Light Blue 28
Renegades 33
Coppermine Black 35
M&D Shore 40
Integrity 42
Hero's White 46
CCLax 48
Next Level 59
Rebels 60
NEMS 67
FCA Blue 113
Coppermine Blue 159
MC Elite 163

Now you just break them into two groups and everyone in each group plays each other. Only issue is uneven number of teams, MC Elite is 163, not sure why they or say Coppermine B is in A division but if you remove one its pretty simple.

This is pretty darn even. Nobody is getting away without playing a top team and everyone gets chance at bottom teams.
Best 6 teams in terms of wins makes playoffs.

You'd likely have it play out

HG 8-0
M&D 8-0
BLC 7-1
MDU 7-1
A good battle for the 5th and 6th seeds amongst SW, Pride, Renegades, Coppermine.

Hero's Green
MD United
Skywalkers Blue
Renegades
Coppermine Black
Hero's White
CCLax
NEMS
FCA Blue

M&D Black
BLC
Pride Red
Stars Light Blue
M&D Shore
Integrity
Next Level
Rebels
Coppermine Blue
MC Elite

Neither of those teams are top teams, but both are far from the worst teams in the league. at least 8 team worse than pride Loudon and six worse than Next Level

Hopefully schedules are somewhat even. However, geography will still play a significant role. VA teams have been promised no more than 2 games north of Baltimore. This will restrict the schedule a decent amount.

People may say its unfair, but it is reality and it was the deal made to get/retain the VA teams in this league and not have them start their own section of NGLL.

I don't get the whole geography thing, there's not home fields? Why can't Pride play NEMS at Whitemarsh Park in Bowie? or Western Regional?

I also don't get why you'd feel the need to placate to the VA teams. Losing Pride and Stars would not be ideal but those teams playing in VA only NGLL would be not ideal for them.

As long as the VA teams play south of the Baltimore beltway it's not a big deal. Should be able to find fields in Columbia or even Catonsville. If a team has to drive from Alexandria up to Bel Air for one game it's really not worth it. You're in the car each way more than you're on the field. If a team in Bel Air or possibly Towson came "down" to Columbia it would be close to an even commute. More teams gives the league better flavor as long as they are not doormats.

They had LBC (Eastern Shore) going to Carroll County multiple times. They've had MD United, Integrity kids go to Utica Park in Frederick. Its obviously not ideal but its reality. Wish the AACo private schools (St Marys, Spalding) would get involved, would benefit many. Regardless, its not an excuse to make one sided schedules like they've done.

The VA/DC fields will be Madeira School and Georgetown Visitation. Whitemarsh Park, Moose Athletic and Western Regional could also be considered close for the VA teams.

Losing Pride and Stars wouldn't harm NGLL much, but the alternative for those teams to play elsewhere is very limited.

Why don’t they create a VA NGLL? So the rest of us have to travel hours because they want to play with Maryland based teams?

Like everything in club lax, $$$ is the reason.

Because that is revenue that the NGLL MD organizers would lose. You could very easily get a 6-7 team VA division with 2 stars teams, 3-4 Pride teams (including the old Cavalier team), YJMA, CavLax and maybe a couple more. In fact, it would pretty much guarantee Pride teams spots at NGLL nationals as well giving them another elite level tourney.

Other than guaranteeing Pride a spot in the National tourney every year, this would be a big waste of time for those teams. Wouldn't you have BLC, Next Level, Metro and MC Elite in there as well? Those are all considered VA/DC teams. If the VA teams want to play in NGLL Mid Atlantic then they need to be prepared to play at whatever field is on the schedule in MD. It doesn't make sense though to send Pride/Stars to Coppermine 4 seasons, just as it doesnt make sense to send NEMS or Coppermine down to Kent Island HS.

Agree with all of it. A look at where the two teams are located and finding a field that's as close to equidistant as possible would be the ideal solution. VA teams would still have to go MD, just not north of the Baltimore beltway. Not sure NGLL is that organized or would have the field availability to provide that level of service though.

Its 38 miles from Pride's tryouts Bishop O'Connell to Western Regional.
32 miles to Whitemarsh Park in Bowie
45 miles to Moose in Glen Burnie

Its 38 miles from Davidsonville where Integrity and MD United practice to Western Regional.
35 miles from there to Roland Park.
Seems the Pride road trips aren't any worse than the M&D Shore, Integrity or MDU.

Kent Island is a bad idea. Traffic on the Bay Bridge can be dicey. Its great for M&D Shore but not for anyone else. 2021 when Kent Island High was a location, car fire on bridge caused a 45 min delay.

Hopefully the use of Kent Island HS is very limited but it's on the list of fields.

Is there a lot of movement between clubs this summer based on the HS girls decides to good to? One father told me to be prepared to changed clubs based upon the club team affiliation with the HS we chose. I had never heard of this but sounds like some people plan on it. If true - what clubs are affiliated with which schools?

Will there be some movement? yes. However on the maryland side, most girls are already affiliated with the club closest to their HG team (eg. Integrity/Spalding).

However biggest thing that will drive movement will be BLC. Some of their stars will likely try out for (and make) M&D/Heros/SW in addition or instead of Capital. This will create some movement at the top which will have trickly down effects as well. You will also see some Pride/Stars girls who don't make Capital who may move to AA clubs instead of playing for Pride Black or Cap Orange.

Also, this is the year that M&D and SW tend to bring in out of state players. I know SW had an Ohio girl at practice during the fall.
