Reposting last post from previous SY:

honestly why would anyone want to be on the rebels. constant B level teams. constant lies on this board about how great they are. and constantly bashing other programs. is that what people want to be a part of?

Rebels are having 5 li teams at 31. AA is best team in country. Only lose to 1 1/2 year older 2 way. Which also had 30’s playing.. B that’s for legacy 91 and express. In 4 weeks the top program imwill be Rebels. Come to tryouts. Heard capping at some ages have 80 -100 kids already signed up. If your son can make stealth, come and see how good they are.

Lost by a goal, no excuses. Beat S2s again, that’s getting old. Let’s see what happens Sunday.

And handled Sweetlax Sunday to win their 6th championship of the summer. Great summer Rebels. Top 31's should be looking to head to the Rebels.

Stealth is 1/iglioo 2. Will both only get better too. It’s a good match up. No one on island close. Both have spots available. If your sons top player on 91/expressS2s/ should check out.

Nice work! I think that was upstate’s first tournament of the summer so they had fresh legs. You probably took it easy on them and rested starters. Definitely not a concern going forward. No chance you burned out a bunch of 9 (and 10) year olds this season.

You might have any to educate yourself in rebels opponents and results this year. Clear top team, will not be close next fall. Any really good player should try to make it.

“Jump to my team, we’re winning all the time, we will blow out teams next year”. Blah blah blah. Who cares!!!!!!

Here is what matters most: ensuring my kid is (1) loving the sport, (2) loving his team and (3) developing life skills.

Too many clubs, coaches and parents have lost their way because they lost sight of what matters most.

Why would parents want other great players to come to their kids team? Parents don’t talk like that. Parents don’t advertise tryouts. That means less playing time for their kids. Look at the big picture. The more kids that attend the July tryouts, the more tryout fees are collected. The more tryout fees collected, the more money the club makes. The more money the club makes, the greater the income is for a few individuals. We get it already. We got it a long time ago.

Rebels Kids Love the game, absolutely have a great Family atmosphere. I am sure this will bother you, also Trained and practiced 136 times last year. The Coaching staff is amazing. Yeah, why would any kid or parent want to be a part of this.

I don’t know…….Maybe the blinding restless narcissism that we get in every chat room on this site from you and your brand.

No one is going to a program where they carry too many kids and the brand is blind to their shortcomings.

Good luck to you and anyone who follows down your yellow brick Road.

What's the word on the Jesters.

They are based out of Massapequa, they have a Girls program. Some years back they had a boys program. Not sure what happened to it. I heard many different stories not sure what to believe. I was told to google the owners name, when I did, I was a little shocked at his past. He seems to be or has been associated with some unsavory people. Not sure what to make of it. True blue is also based out of Massapequa and Be the best is based out of Seaford. A lot new choices for that area.

Rebels had zero kids leave, except the 32’s that are now playing in that age. Added some excellent kids. The best got better.

The Boys teams are new for the Jesters. They got crushed this year but improved throughout the season. They attended more tournaments than 91 or Express so I give them credit for putting themselves out there, they’ll grow from that. I don’t know how often they practice.

All clubs have dissenters so let’s keep a level head. Haters are going to detest obviously. Just let the teams be the focus.

Honestly think people (1 or 2 people) go on all the boards and pretend to self promote the rebels… knowing the rebels people I don’t think they are doing it.

Rumor has it Hawks are having LI kids play with them. Any confirmation? Hawks’ star player was a ‘30 reclass from Igloo (kid’s dad now Navy coach) so there’s a clear pipeline.

The HOCO elite division will only have like 5 teams. Rebels and igloo need to commute down for Sundays in spring.

Weekend predictions. Legacy, Express, 91?? Who comes out on top? 91 been very low key at this age group> Their 2030 Cyclones team plays all over. This group has been very selective regarding tournaments they play in. Rush and Moose always compete. No clue about East Coast or DD. Anyone know either?

No idea just saying that it seems they have. At least Igloo ventures out of LI to get smoked by HoCo teams.

If Madlax continues that level of play, no one will be able to touch them. The three new kids from BLC were a big add

I mean they played weak competition in a fall tournament. Their main strength last year were their crop of 10yr olds. That said, if they got BLCs top players, they’re going to be hard to beat next season.

Can’t be a better team if you keep ducking all the better competition so you can win a t shirt

What age do all the kids on LI move to Express and 91? Rebels and Igloo both have very strong young teams (30,31, 32), but don't seem able to keep the kids together.

When the parents realize that those teams are not invited/eligible to play in some of the most competitive tournaments.

Usually around 5th - 6th grade. That’s when they figure out who is going to to be really good. Then they offer those kids free tuition to come play for them. This has been happening for years

Maybe. But both Express and 91 are both terrible at this age group right now. They would need a ton of talent to defect over to be competitive.

That’s the way things have been in the past, but times are definitely changing. Think rebels have positioned themselves with a bunch of good moves to keep their talent that they are developing.

Rebels / Igloo are the clear top programs from 30 and down right now

The transition is happening.. Nothing stays on top forever and people are starting to see that there are more options now. It's not just a 2 horse race (91,Express). Many others will be competitive moving forward. Legacy, Rebels, Igloo etc all are taking a big piece of that pie. Rebels have definitely grown the fastest and we will see if that growth can produce top teams that stay together.

When Catholic school, reclasses, and positioning for recruiting years come about, you’ll see the transition.

Top tier kids will gravitate towards an NLF team.

Not necessarily. Legacy Taz has plenty of D 1 commits and they are not an NLF team. If your team is very good then you will get invited to the premier tournaments.

This is true but 91 and Express for years have been known to poach top players from other teams and offer either reduced or free tuition. With their track record and the amount of money that you are saving, many families jump at the opportunity. It's not always the best decision but free tuition is hard to pass up. It' not only the money, it's the bragging rights...

All clubs will reduce tuition for the right player, not just 91 & Express.

And the top clubs will also recruit/attract kids from off LI as they go along, always looking for the next best thing. All the clubs are in business. The business of making money. And winning makes for better marketing and more money.

Rosters in 3rd & 4th will be quite different by 8th, 9th etc.

Rebels are becoming a watered down product, they slap shiny red helmets on any PAL team that asks and then throw in a few of there better kids to keep things competitive, which at this age it works. Rebels won’t be a top team once 5th / 6th comes around. Facts

5th grade is right around the corner. Seem to be doing ok thus far in 4th. Care to elaborate on which teams will be the top programs?

Agree with that, watered down teams with sub par coaching.

Not sure what all the detest is about. You can tell a lot about a program when you see how a team/ coaching and training drops off from the AA team to the A or B team and I can say based of experience as a parent there is a HUGE disparity from Igloo to Rebels. Rebels has the kids practicing with older age groups for example their 2031 Riot team practices with their 2030 Blaze team. I can say that from experience the A or B team at Igloo was not doing that. Positional training as well as play calling wasn't even a thought with their Arctic wolves team. I do see that Igloo changed their B team coach from last year and brought in new kids which was a good thing because $4k for 1.5 coaches wasn't worth it for sure.

Glad to see a healthy rivalry out there but many of the kids know each other so it's just fun at this age. Hopefully that continues and Long Island continues to breed the best.

As a parent of the Rebels can say the coaching is great, and the amount of opportunity to play is extremely high. 4 coaches on my sons team + trainers that are at certain sessions.

It’s really not though; while there are teams popping up everywhere, most LI clubs are the farm teams for Express and 91.

We have friends (parents) on the Winter Soldiers and Arctic Wolves as well as Rebels Stealth, Riot and Raiders and looks like scheduling is still being finalized for 2023 Spring all around.

Last head to head was at Tristar Octoberfest in GC but some were missing Igloo 7, Stealth 6 still very close.

The Rebels look very strong on all their 2031 teams as does Igloo. So I would consider all to be good at the 9-10 year old level. Definitely Top of the clubs in LI by far. Coaches on both Igloo and Rebels seem very composed on sidelines this Fall year and they all run plays and make calls on the field. Kids are kids but will only respond to the training and mindset of the coaches.

Looks like from the Tourney Machine app the Igloo Winter Soldiers AA team played the Rebels Riot team in championship on turkey shoot out score was 7-2 but both teams were missing a few key players so not sure what the outcome would have been. The Rebels Raiders team also did very good but lost to Rebels Riot on the semi finals. Not sure why both teams within the same club have to play each other. That Turkey shoot out was very weak turnout, only the Winter Soldiers, Riot and Raiders were there at the 2031 level, definitely poor planning on the organization to get teams.

I guess it was payback since the Rebels Stealth team beat the Igloo Arctic Wolves the weekend before at Fall Lacrosse Classic at Stony Brook 14-0. Then Stealth met the 91 Team Titans in the championship and Stealth won 9-1 who are also very good. The 91 Team Warrior look ok too but many of those players were from a regroup of last years sharks and ex igloo / rebels that wanted more play time.

Definitely looks like some disparity from their AA teams to their non AA I guess but not by much.

I think it will be a fun spring/ summer as all these boys grow and get better.

Rebels and Igloo top teams are the class of LI. The other teams, LI Express, Express East, Legacy, Team 91 all require significant development to catch up with Rebels and Igloo.

Don't waste your time. The LI teams better skilled but they are also 1-2 years younger than all the MD kids.

In Maryland if you are born after 7/1 You are then in the following years class. New York is 12/1 most states it’s 9/1. So if a kid is born July 10th and the parents hold him back for Kindergarten. Then he will be 2 years older than a lot of the kids in NY This is becoming a more common practice

This is the new norm.
It is destroying the sport at the youth level and in turn limiting the popularity of the PLL.

This is the new norm.
It is destroying the sport at the youth level and in turn limiting the popularity of the PLL.

College coaches may like it but as a parent I don’t and as a fan I’m not impressed by a 19-20 yr old college freshman or a 25 yr old PLL rookie.

That's just bonkers but I guess what can you do? I guess that's why some LI organizations have their kids practicing with older kids so it's not so much about age but more about skill.

The lack of age requirements also plays a major role in hiding the lack of a coaches ability to teach.
Its much easier to just play older kids down and win vs having to coach up 20 on age kids.
This is why the LI teams and Canada indoor box teams will always be a step ahead with respect to stick skills and lax iq.

At this young age, its often grumbling and far less prevalent. Our MD based team has on kid who would be considered a "reclass". On the other hand, almost all of the best kids are Fall (2012) birthdays. Watching my kids go through it, there are very few actual reclass kids, but the ones that are reclass, and hit puberty early (obvious at 28, starting to see at 29 age group) make it easy for the casual sideline observer think its a bigger problem that expected.

The push from IL (Foy) and US Lacrosse to "fix" this issue, only below 14U sounds great, but will have very little actual impact IMHO. Claiming we have a huge issue, and then realizing the stakeholders in the sport only care about middle school kids makes the entire argument ring hollow. The best 14 year olds, will be playing against mostly 17/18 year olds in high school.

Fall 2012 as 31's?
We have fall/winter 2010's as 28s in LI.

The difference in school cutoff is most likely the largest factor. My 2031 team here on LI as an example only has 2 2012 birthdays and they are both December. For the most part we are spring/summer 2013.

It’s more about leveling the playing field in the developing years and Getting rid of the unfair advantages. It will give all the kids the same parameters for developing. If they are that good, they should be playing up and not down in the youth ages. That’s how you get better!

Yea, but then the elite clubs can't brag on social media on how good they are.
Nothing like winning tourneys with sub par coaching and dedication.

Coaching is a stretch, volunteering at Navy is more accurate. But he always introduces himself as a coach, basically Richie 2.0

Regardless of what team traveled 5+/- hrs to play 11 year olds its still a disparity at this age. Once in HS I don't see it meaning anything but a 9yr old still in most cases hasn't grown yet compared to an 11 year old.

Easy to pound your crab filled bellies when you have an advantage. Why don't you drive 5+/- hrs to come play our 29 teams LOL (11yr olds).

Could any LI team play in hoco at this point? Maybe their best team could duke it out with crabs for 6th best?

Igloo and Rebels top teams would both battle for first place with Hawks, Madlax, and Next Level. Any of those 5 teams could beat any of the others on any given day, many already have defeated one another.

91, Express, and Legacy as currently constructed would not be competitive in the AAA HoCo division. We all expect that to change, as historical examples of both 91 & Express show they attract the top talent headed toward middle school years. It will be interesting to see if Igloo and Rebels can break this trend.

No. Unfortunately the LI 9yr olds can't compete against the MD 11yr olds.

In NY State the cutoff is December 1. That is why it’s commonplace to have a year or more difference between kids in NY vs Maryland DC and Virginia in the same grade.. on top of that some people hold their kids back in the DMV.

4th grade on age = 10. If you want to talk about 11 yo in 4th grade, I’m all for it. But this 9 bs is just an excuse for losing to hoco teams.

I haven’t really thought about reading it because my son and the rest of his team aren’t hold backs. They’re all normal 4th graders. I think a few of the kids are still 9 rn. But they’ll be 10 soon enough.

The point though was that 10 is 4th grade age. 9.8ish if you’re trying to get cute. Your LI kids are not some underage mutant lax prodigies like your egos want to believe. Just be proud they’re on age and on competitive teams like Igloo and Rebels. There are other hoco teams which have some “pre-first” graduates on their squads.

Can you be more specific?

Rebels play too physical

Lol - Im not sure if you are being facetious nut my boy is on the Single A team and I will say in all the training they emphasize the importance of being physical but not drawing penalties. If someone checks or hits a helmet they typically will stop practice to point it out or a coach will make a point of it during a water break.

I will say they also play up on all their practices. AA 2031 Stealth plays AA 2030 Aces and A 2031 Riot plays A 2030 Blaze both in routines and drills as well as scrimmages so there's a level of consistency IMO within the organization that we did not see in other Orgs. I guess it will help us when we play the Hoco's as they apparently have 11 year olds haha.

Still haven't seen an agreed upon birthdate marker, is it September, December, or a different date?

What incentive do club owners have to adopt this model, they currently get up to 12 years worth payments from families who would only have to spend 10 years worth in new model.

NLF has already agreed to this.

Igloo will be at NAL. Don't think Rebels get invited

Rebels do not get invited to NAL or NLF.

Anyone can enter NAL. They want your money. NLF even allows non NLF teams to play in their tournaments

First off not everyone can enter either. They are both exclusive and the tournament directors have the right to disallow anyone. Secondly the Rebels stealth is one of the most competitive teams in the country. Big tournament would never deny them from playing as it would saturate their product. The best teams at every age level can get into whatever tournaments they want.

Rebels will never get invited to NAL nor NLF. That's why their best kids will leave by 5th grade

Care to explain why? Right now Igloo and Rebels are clearly the best at this age group and it is not close. Why would a tournament not invite 2 of the best teams?

I agree. Igloo and Rebels are the best out there. The statement about them leaving by 5th grade was probably made by a HOCO dad or coach propagandist to bring solid competition for his 11 year olds. I say we form like Voltron and just this one time bring Igloo and Rebels to create Rebgloo and whoop some 11 year old HOCO kids jkjk.
