Sacred Heart and Saint Anthony's should be able to give most teams in Nassau and Suffolk a run for their money.Have to show the Catholic's a little love.

The Catholic High Schools are ranked outside of the public schools as you probably know. Generally speaking, the local rankings seem to be pretty clear.

Girls Catholic High Schools

1. St. Anthony's
2. Sacred Heart
3. Kellenberg
4. St. John the Baptist
5. Our Lady of Mercy
6. Holy Trinity
7. St. Mary's
8. St. Dominic's

The ranking gap between St. Anthony's and Sacred Heart is much larger than the gap from Sacred Heart back to the rest of the field.

St. Anthony's would be competitive with all the top Nassau and Suffolk teams. Being fair, Sacred Heart is probably competitive with the fifth ranked teams and downward across the two counties.

BOTC Industries has just learned that Ms. McPartland has turned down the North Carolina offer after her verbal agreement and has signed a national letter of intent to play for the University of Maryland.

Lacrosse, JV Asst. Girls $5,210
Lacrosse, Varsity Boys $8,622
Lacrosse, JV Asst. Boys $5,210
Lacrosse, 7th & 8th Gr. Boys $5,210

6 WEEKS and we have a new season upon us. Lets hope for plenty of excitement, lots of improvement and some hard fought battles. Lets hope those with injuries are fully recovered and those with strong potential have worked hard since last season. Can't wait to watch some of the early season battles. Good luck to all our defending champions and those who plan to take the top spots. Lets get the dialog going.

If it ever stops snowing. If we keep getting buried in snow through February it could make it a real pain for girls to get out. Season starts @ March 16th and we can get some reason snow storms in March. Ugh

Open question ; Who will be the top sophpmores this year from Section VIII and Section XI?

Sophomore year is the primary BO year for most top players. Some to watch :

Courtney Fortunato - Northport
Maggie Bill - St. Anthony's
Danielle Doherty - Massapequa
Nadine Hadnagny - Farmingdale

Any other sophomore "shots to watch"?

Question: Why don't the high schools on Long Island plow their turf fields like all of the colleges on Long Island? In most cases, it is the same style of turf so that can't be the issue. With all of the new turf fields we have throughout Long Island and most of them sit covered in snow, the kids have no where to shoot and play and get ready for the spring.

Schedules for Nassau are posted on the Section 8 web site. Things look a lot different this season.

How is this going to work as far as playoffs go? Is this good for the sport in Nassau?

Just finished looking at the records of the Class C teams mentioned. Have I looked at the wrong data or were all of the leading Class C teams at most two games over .500 last season? With budget cuts looming all over in the New York State and shortened schedules (non-division scrimmages), it will be tough to gauge just how well these teams would match up with one another.

Some of the current Class C schools played in the Nassau County "Power Conference". A small school like Cold Spring Harbor played schools like Garden City, Manhasset, Farmingdale, Wantagh, Friends Academy, North Shore, Massapequa, South Side, Syosset, Calhoun, Carle Place, Hicksville and Plainedge.

Only three of those schools were in the Class C playoffs; all of the others were in Class A or Class B.

Cold Spring Harbor was 10W-8L with the fourth strength of schedule ranking.

Nassau Class A: Farmingdale is an overwhelming favorite while Massapequa and Port will be fighting for the second spot. Calhoun will also be in the mix tihs year but the upgrade to Class A might be a problem.

Nassau Class B: Obviously Garden City is the clear favorite but Manhasset moving into Class B makes it more interesting for the first time in years. Wantagh, South Side and Division should be in the mix to round out the top four.

Nassau Class C: Cold Spring Harbor and North Shore will battle for the top spot with Friends, Carle Place, and Mineola for the next spots - remember only top 6 make the playoffs.

the thought of sayville being ahead of bayport is disgusting. bayport beat them twice last year ...not even close games. Mount sinai will not beat bayport in the class c title. Bayport has only lost 3 key starters and still has it's top scorers. do not under estimate loren generi, gen stickney , christy thoden, julia ohnson and rachel obrien.

I don't understand how Bayport Bluepoint could be placed under Sayville having beat them last year. They are sure to win their county game as well, nobody on Sinai can stop their best players.. Sinai has a young team who lost twice to Bayport. Don't underestimate BBP.

The ranking clearly reflects Sayville's overall record last season which favored them over BBP. Mount Sanai girls side has improved this year and could well challenge for Suffolk's Class C title. That does not take away from BBP - but the whole season goes into a ranking, not just the head-to-head games.

The ranking clearly reflects Sayville's overall record last season which favored them over BBP. Mount Sanai girls side has improved this year and could well challenge for Suffolk's Class C title. That does not take away from BBP - but the whole season goes into a ranking, not just the head-to-head games.

Middle Country Girls played Bayport in scrimmage yesterday. I know its just a scrimmage but they were down 6-2 (Bayport) at half and lost by about 11-8. Maybe they were missing some girls? They didn't look to be a force??
