Nice try. Give it two years when your daughters are headed to high school and want to play beyond. That’s when the movement will happen. The connections the other clubs have to the collegiate track are just a fact. You can’t develop that in just a year and one team. Look at recruitment for each club and the history there…

College coaches aren’t going to turn away interested talent because of what name is on the kid’s club jersey. Plenty of M&D, Hero’s & Skywalkers go on to the sit the bench at high level programs. Who cares if your kid was on the team if they never see the field? Show me their stats on how many of their kids transfer or quit in college comparative to other clubs.

Is success simply getting a kid to top D1 or is success getting players to complete 4 years of in game playing time and graduate with a degree?! High # of Transfers = failure to help the player find the best situation for them.

Good idea, lets always keep things status quo and never change, expand or push the envelope. The "that's how it has always been" agruement is so worn out. Good things happen when you have people willing to take a chance on something they believe in, put in hard work, time, energy and resources, and begin to experience success. Success breeds success. So to think that if a team continues to have success and be ranked at or near top in the country in 3 years that college coaches won't be standing on their sidelines watching them play is both niave and ridiculous.

And you can tell they are becoming a factor when more and more lax people try to attack then so they can keep their own players. Keep working Coppermine and no I’m not a parent there. Love they are creating another good option for kids!

I don’t feel like the post was attacking Coppermine 2028, but rather even complimented them as a team. However, they are clearly an outlier within their club and you should be proud of your team. No one can pretend or conveniently forget their history of success of a Club as whole to date. No one is faulting anyone for the strategy of hope and monetary investment. They have invested in every team they have fielded for years, and the results aren’t terrible but you are who you are. Coppermine is not a new club.

The 2028s have outshined the rest of their club and to this point have been the most consistent 2028 team. No dispute there. I can acknowledge and respect many peoples hope and belief for the future of that club based as what that team has done to date. One also must acknowledge and not dismiss the history or the club to date as if the 27s, 26s, 25s etc don’t exist. I believe Coppermine 2028 will remain a good team. However when choosing a Club the choice is either one of proven success, or one of the strategy of hope and belief.

I’ve never understood the logic that having one great team is suddenly going to catapult Coppermine into being a big time club. I’m not saying the club won’t get there eventually, but having one great 7th grade team won’t suddenly change things in the larger landscape. Do you know how many clubs have one excellent team and then are just good to below average at other years? A lot

I get they’re investing in their younger years and a sustained investment should pay off in time, but it seems only reasonable to assume it will take some time to build up to a club that is known to college recruiters, has college connections, and has a reputation for excellence beyond just parents with kids in the 28 (maybe 29?) year.

Does anyone know if Skywalkers requires attendance at both tryout dates? Trying to work out a tryout schedule for a couple of teams.

Coppermine has zero history of recruiting, one really good team (28s) and their parents think the program is dominate?

They aren’t even close to be nems let alone a top tier program

Nems has multiple good / ranked teams 24s, 26s and 27s

But Tucker is coming…you are hoping a retired slightly above average coach is going to save the day and build a dynasty?

It’s not about college coaches turning away players it’s all about connections and the ability to connect players to schools they’re interested in. Whether you believe it or not, it’s a large part of the recruitment process along with going to specific college camps players maybe interested in attending. The more all around successful programs already have these connections. That’s just the truth and coppermine is just not there yet.

NEMS is headed in the wrong direction! Their 28 team lacks quality coaching and their 29 team is terrible. While Coppermine is building their program’s youth teams with quality coaches from the 28 team and younger.

NEMS has one great team - the 24’s. The 25 & 26 team is average, the 27’s are crumbling, and the 28 and 29 team are terrible.

By stating they have “zero history of recruiting” is saying they don’t have players recruited which is a flat out lie. Every team has great recruitments, some ages better then others.
Also, “a slightly above average coach” is just an ignorant comment.
Always blows my mind what people will come on here & say. Usually the negative comments are due to some form of jealousy.

I agree that the comment about the coach was ignorant, I don’t understand when people make fact less based opinions. But I also don’t understand how in this conversation that any defense of Coppermine never addresses the facts that have been commented on here about overall club success (not opinion). They continue to speak of hope and future change acting as though who the club currently is doesn’t count or matter. I get the idea of being sold hope and investment. But to act like it’s not a gamble is silly. To be clear Coppermine 2028 is great and yes an outlier.

24s are good not great. The only good players are the 23 holdbacks and the coaches kid.

NEMS 2024 is a perfect example of kids and parents thinking that a strong 5th, 6th grade, and 7th grade team will persist into the years that matter. A former #1 team falling outside the top 10 when it matters while somehow inferior teams surpass them.

Even worse, the 24 NEMS coach will only look out for her daughter who is only the strongest player because she helped direct the supporting cast to get her the ball all the time. It will get worse as more clipboards appear on the fields.

Lots of similarities to the same conversations about 28 teams. Being blinded by t-shirts and wins are short sighted and miss the big picture. As parents, these are nuances your daughters don’t understand and it is your role to help them see the big picture. Thinking “but (fill in the club) has a shot to win the NGLL next year” is the wrong mentality.

Former # 1 team? You must be a Nems parent. They never won a tournament witht the top teams in it. Never remember them in playoffs at NGLL either. Their current middle school teams are average.

No! If they like you they will offer before tryouts and you don’t have to attend any. SW knows who they want to poach before tryouts.

This response is not even commenting on the purpose of the post. The post made another great point and example of what continues to be explained on this thread. The winning sometimes blinds people of reality.

I personally hope the Coppermine 2028 team stays together, there are some really talented girls on that team that could potentially take roster spots away from girls on my daughters team.

Tucker is all-time winningest coach at Johns Hopkins with a 303-171 (.639) record in 28 seasons, including a 235-155 (.603) mark at the Division I level.

Honestly, is that an elite record? Especially when you are in the backyard of the some of the best players in the country

Would Coppermine 28 parents be thrilled w winning 6 out of 10 times?

A lot depends on if you have practiced with them over the summer. If they don't know who you are, I would attend both to have any type of chance.

Sounds like someone who hasn't been through the process at all. A good recruiting director will never get you an offer at the D-1 level at least. (they have more influence on D-3). What they can do is 1) help get more coaches to your games and get you preferred invites to prospect days and more importantly 2) get you real time feedback from coaches on your chances of actually getting recruited.

For a top MD team, since none of them are exactly underexposed, this is not that big of a deal. If this club were in Texas, Chicago or Denver (non lax hotbeds), a former coach recruiting director would be a much bigger deal.

Never saw that and not one person outside of Nems would believe they are the #1 team. They are #4 in Baltimore area at best.

If your daughter isn't on Coppermine, why are you so concerned or quick to bash. You are welcome to stay with your established program, and hope that it continues on the right track inspite of a corperate take over and chris Robison leacving right when the 28s get into HS.

Nothing is garunteed. But, I can assure you regardless of the ne on the jersey college coaches will be watching the top teams in the country.

You must feel like such a big person to talk so much trash on kids. Please remember these are 10-12 year old girls you are talking about. Is there something that you could comment or contribute to help these coaches or teams grow and improve? DB

Not a lot of Heros chatter on here lately. Are they done adding after several BLC girls came over last year, or are they still looking to add more at tryouts? Haven't seen white play in a while, but will their best stick around on white or try for something else?

They would need to add quite a few impact players to compete with the other big 4. Right now they looks like the 5th team at best. They are far behind the talent of M&D, Coppermine, MDU and Crush. Plus you have the Heros parents dynamic that is there.

They would need to add quite a few impact players to compete with the other big 4. Right now they looks like the 5th team at best. They are far behind the talent of M&D, Coppermine, MDU and Crush. Plus you have the Heros parents dynamic that is there.

There has been a lot of talk the last few weeks about trying out for MandD, Coppermine, Skywalkers and Crush snd nothing about heros. I guess I am not totally surprised. After playing them twice, it isn't a program I would want to be a part of.

That team atmosphere, parents and parent coaching leave alot to be desired with the Heros team. Can't imagine they attract much talent. Plus they have tryouts starting Sunday night? More nonsense.

Coppermine and Skywalkers have already added girls - how many spots will these teams even have left by tryouts?

Maybe it depends on if the girls trying out are better than the already added girts? Not sure what hey would do if they already offered girls prior to trying out.

My daughter's team played them twice in close games and I can't imagine what you are talking about. Parents and coaches all seemed totally reasonable.

On the off chance that teams don't know before tryouts who they are selecting...

How long after tryouts can you typically expect to get notified? And do you only get notified if you make it? Or do they also let you know if you didn't?

Within 48 hours, usually much sooner.

With Mid Atlantic this coming weekend I noticed Coppermine has 28 black/blue team listed. Is this a hybrid of the two teams? Just curious
